Harry's Thoughts

This is a very nice example that is sure to help make its new caretaker many happy memories!

THE ESSENTIALS

This is a solid original “black plate” California  three owner DeVille convertible (Style number 68367-F) said to have 137,000 original miles.  This car has a new average quality respray in the original color as well as a new glass rear window top and top boot.    It is a fabulous original car that can be enjoyed as-is or improved for show over time.  The mechanicals, interior and chrome are very good.

This car was purchased new on April 16, 1965 in the Whittier, Ca at McAllister Cadillac by BJ and Joan Oganesoff.   The Oganesoff family lived in Whittier as well.   The car has never strayed far from home as it remained in Southern California all its life and still wears the original “black plate”.

It has a fully functioning and new correct black convertible top.   The car has recently installed radial tires and mechanically is very strong and has been fully serviced.   This is a very clean and rust free example with no signs of rust.   We have included  close up photographs of the undercarriage for details.  It is very close to rust free and very solid as you would expect from a “black plate” California motorcar.

There were 19,200 DeVille Convertibles made in 1965.  Each had the powerful 429 cu in V8 with 340 hp.  The 129.5 in wheelbase makes for a very smooth and luxurious ride with an overall length of 224 inches.  Of course this DeVille is loaded with options including air conditioning (not presently working) and power windows and top. These 1960′s Cadillacs are fabulous motorcars.

The NADA value shows High Retail at $28,700 and Average Retail at $19,850.  See details of the value at: http://www.nadaguides.com/Classic-Cars/1965/Cadillac/Deville/2-Door-Convertible/Values.

This, being a documented “black plate” car with documented history is a terrific value.  To research financing alternatives and to learn more about buying collector cars, please visit our website at www.classicpromenade.com.

Interesting Fact: The Cadillac Series 62 is a full-size luxury car that was produced by General Motors for 14 years from 1940 to 1964. This vehicle had seven generations over the course of its life and was occasionally marketed as the Sixty-Two or Series Sixty-Two.   In its earliest years, the Cadillac Series 62 body resembles a sleek “torpedo” style C-body that features slant in the windshield along with a curved rear window. The original engine in the Series 62 is a 5.7-liter Monobloc V8 that outputs 135 horsepower. This model sold extremely well and accounted for 37 percent of Cadillacs sales in 1940.   Eventually, the Cadillac Series 62 went in a boxier direction for the body until the model was renamed to the Cadillac Calais for the 1965 model year. Although the Cadillac Series 62 was discontinued, it is still viewed as a class and is sought after vehicle for many car enthusiasts!
