Harry's Thoughts

This is a very nice example that is sure to help make its new caretaker many happy memories!

THE ESSENTIALS

We are pleased to be offering this pristine Commemorative Edition Z06.  This is a low mileage one-owner motorcar bought new and fully serviced in Temecula, California at Paradise Chevrolet.  The Commemorative Edition Z06 (Code RPO Z16) was built to celebrate the amazing success Corvette sustained at the 24 hour race at LeMans.  This Z06 was the first production car to be built in North America with a painted carbon fiber hood.  2004 was also the last year of the incredible C5 model Z06.

This car is offered in its original livery of LeMans Blue with the Commemorative Edition striping only available on the Z06 in 2004.  Being serial number 116759, this is the 245th out of the 2,025 Commemorative Edition motorcars produced.

The Z06 was offered with the famous LS6 5.7 liter V-8 with 405 bhp.  This awe inspiring power is combined with a quick shifting 6-speed manual transmission and a special Commemorative Edition rear end ratio of 3.42.

The Z06 is a performance machine that is refined enough to make an incredibly reliable and comfortable daily driver.  Look at the performance specifications below for this motorcar:

Commemorative EditionPress Release

Event Performance
0-60 mph 3.9 sec
0-100 mph 9.2 sec
0-100-0 mph 13.56 sec
1/4 Mile 11.9 sec
Skid Pad 1.03 G
Top Speed 171 mph (275 km/h)
Nürburgring Nordschleife Lap Time Under 8 minutes

The 2004 Z06 was one of a very few cars that had performance figures this impressive.  The only cars that could come close would cost at least two to three times the price.  And all this performance and power can achieve 28 mpg highway!!!

This motorcar was bought at Paradise Chevrolet on January 20, 2004 for a total cost of about $67,000. The owner (and my neighbor), Tim Smith, was a serial Corvette owner having had several Corvettes over the years.  When the new 350Z was introduced he acquired one believing that this could be a terrific replacement for his love for Corvettes.  Well, it was only a matter of weeks before he realized that he had made a mistake, dumped the 350Z and bought this gorgeous Z06.  It has been always meticulously maintained and typically remained covered in a garage.  Of course it has a clean CARFAX showing no accidents or any other issues.

We have enjoyed driving this car and it looks and drives as-new.  This is an easy to drive motorcar with absolute supercar performance.  This car has benefitted from drilled and slotted brake rotors and a quick-shift short throw transmission lever.  Since Hal is our in-house Corvette aficionado, Corvette Club member and serial Corvette owner please feel free to contact him with questions at 602.245.7200 or Contact Us.

This is a tremendous opportunity to acquire an almost as-new limited edition Z06 for a great value.  These cars will assuredly appreciate in the future.

Interesting Fact: The Chevy Corvette has been in production for over 60 years and eight design generations have been created. Executives decided on the name “Corvette” by comparing it to the small maneuverable warship. This vehicle is also widely known as “America’s Sports Car” and is one of the most popular vehicles in history. This vehicle has always been offered in either a 2-door coupé or convertible. Over the years, different engines have been used ranging from 5.7-liter LT1 V8’s to 6.2-litre LT5 supercharged V8’s. Today, the standard Chevy Corvette uses a 6.2-liter naturally aspirated V8 that gives the car 495 horsepower and a 0 to 60 acceleration of just 2.8 seconds. Notable variants of the base Chevy Corvette have been produced over the years, such as the Stingray and Z06. In the early 1970s, GM president Ed Cole was convinced to provide three NASA astronauts with new Corvettes, and this led to a long-standing unofficial tie between the companies. The Chevy Corvette is still one of the highest-performing vehicles in production and is a dream car for many!
