Harry's Thoughts
THE ESSENTIALS
SOLD to Maryland!!! Yes, that millage is correct. Only 730 original miles on this super cool, one-owner since new, attention grabbing 1996 Dodge Viper RT/10. This Viper is in showroom condition and is one of the nicest in the world. It goes without saying that this car has been lightly used and well taken care of.
With such little usage, there isn’t much in the way of service records (the tires are still original!). But don’t worry, this car has not been neglected; everything works as it should and it drives like new.
The 1996 Viper marks the first year of the SR II second generation. In fact, in 1996, the Viper was the most powerful American built sports car and is now an automotive icon. A well known fact about the Viper is it’s very raw driving experience. With a massive V-10 engine, manual transmission, and basically zero electronic driver aids, this car gets wild real fast and really requires the driver to be skilled.
This Viper was purchased on January 27, 1996 from Chapman’s Las Vegas Dodge and shipped directly to Tuscon, Arizona where it has resided in the personal collection of Bruce Caruth since new. We have a copy of the original purchase order. This Viper cost $69,275 in 1996! This car was driven mostly to car events within Ventana Canyon Country Club. So yeah, this car has been babied.
This particular Viper is painted in Viper Red with eye-popping yellow wheels and decals (factory original options). The interior is black with a stunning red leather wrapped steering wheel and shifter. There were only 166 RT/10’s built with this color combo, making it extremely rare.
The exterior condition is overall excellent. The only blemish we noticed was a small paint chip where the hood meets the front bumper. Beyond that, this car shows just as good the day it was built.
Mechanically, this Viper is powered by an 8.0 Liter V-10 pumping out 415hp at 4,100rpm with peak torque at 480 ft/lbs at 3,600 rpm. All that power goes through a rear-wheel drive limited-slip differential. This Viper runs like new. There really isn’t much else to say here. It’s only got 730 miles!
The interior of this Viper is outstanding. The leather seats are nearly perfect, all trim pieces are solid and fit together as they should. The car is free of any rattles or shakes. This Viper does have air conditioning, and also comes with an extra set of keys, the original owners manuals / books, floor mats, tonneau cover, side window inserts and optional hardtop.
This Viper is probably the closest thing you’ll find to a new car from this generation. These early Vipers are iconic, and with the discontinuation of the Viper nameplate all together, these cars are only expected to increase in value. Now’s the time to get in on this modern classic.
