Harry's Thoughts
THE ESSENTIALS
This is a spectacular low mileage original (46k miles) Rolls Royce Camargue in completely original, concours condition. This Camargue has been in one of Southern California’s most important Rolls Royce collections for many years; that of Mr. John Ellison of La Jolla. It is being offered by us only due to his acquisition of the unique custom built 1987 Camargue drophead coupe at the Gooding & Company auction.
As VIN X10399, this Camargue appears to be one of the very last custom-built Camargues, only to be followed by twelve Camargues offered in 1987, all in white with red interior. This Camague is elegant and understated in Magnolia livery, tan Everflex top and replete in tan Nuella hides with lighter contrasting piping. The paint and interior are completely original and in spectacular condition. The leather is very soft and supple with no signs of wear. Of course it has the luxurious mouton overlays.
Camargues are fabulous driving motorcars, with the same wheelbase as a Silver Wraith yet with the structural integrity only offered by a sporting coupe. The Pininfarina design is gorgeous and is gaining more popularity every year. As the absolute most expensive motorcar available in 1986 ($165,000 retail price), these are the pinnacle of technology and design for the era.
This motorcar is equipped with electronic fuel injection and has been maintained very well throughout its life. It comes complete with a full set of service records, factory build sheets and records, manuals, tools, etc.
