1983 Rolls-Royce Corniche DHC

36k Miles, Beautiful Original Condition

$52,800

Harry's Thoughts

This is a wonderful, low mileage Corniche that is beautifully original with a mere 36,000 miles from new. We love the Magnolia Corniches and this one is terrific.

THE ESSENTIALS

This is beautiful original 1983 Rolls-Royce Corniche DHC with two previous owners since new and with only 36,200 miles.  We love the iconic color combination of Magnolia and Beige Leather interior.  This Corniche has been very well maintained and is in gorgeous original condition.

This Corniche was ordered through Palm Beach Imports in West Palm Beach, FL as a special order for the Royal Motorcar Corp on March 29, 1983.   The original MSRP was $156,000.  On April 6, 1984, Vantage Motorworks sold it to Dorothy Goldburg with a mere 3,002 miles accumulated.   By 1993, the Corniche was acquired by George Brandel of Lake Stevens, WA and by 1995, her present owner purchased the car from Rolls-Royce of Beverly Hills.  Living in Southern California, she had most of the service performed by the marque specialist Charles Agapiou in Beverly Hills.  We are now selling this Rolls on behalf of the owner of the past 27 years.

The livery is gorgeous in its original Magnolia that is in excellent condition today with beautiful shine and luster.  Twin Beige coachstripes compliment the Magnolia (RR Paint Code 9510418) paint and its original Beige (Code 5201) convertible top is in very nice condition.  The chrome and stainless trim are on in very nice condition as well, as further proof that this Rolls has been garaged and cared for its entire life.  There are the normal leaded seam joints where there is slight checking in the paint, but this is normal and only visible upon close inspection (which is our job).

The interior is also original and in very good condition.  The Beige leather (VM 3234) is very soft with the normal creases from age and use.  The patina we think looks wonderful, as this is nearly a 40 year old car!  The passenger front seat bolster has the beginning of a crack.  The wood is nearly perfect with no visible flaws noticed.  The Cumberland Stone (Trim Code 44) Wilton wool carpeting is in very nice condition with its Beige sheepskin mouton overlays.  The interior really is quite exceptional for being this original.

The engine compartment is beautifully detailed and looks nearly as-new.  The venerable 6.75 liter V8 runs well and all the major systems function well.  With 36,000 miles, this Corniche has been pampered and is in very nice condition.

This Corniche comes with all of its original owner’s handbooks and related booklets, as well as its spare, tools and such.  It also includes a car cover.

The NADA Value is $74,500.

Interesting Fact: The Rolls-Royce Corniche was produced as a hardtop from 1971 to 1980 and as a convertible until 1995. This mode is a two-door, front-engine, luxury vehicle that was a development of the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow. Additionally, Bentley created a version of the Corniche that is the Bentley Continental.   This vehicle originally got its name from the 1939 Corniche prototype and the name itself came from the French word “corniche” which means “coastal road”. The standard Rolls-Royce V8 engine is used along with a three-speed automatic transmission. In 1977, however, the Corniche received a Bosch KE-Jetronic fuel injection that boosted the top speed of the vehicle to 118 miles per hour.   Production of the Rolls-Royce Corniche numbers over 4,000 and the various models were popular with a number of celebrities at the time. The Rolls-Royce Corniche is loved by many and regarded as a comfortable drive by car lovers everywhere!
