THE ESSENTIALS

1967 Mercedes 250SL, 24k Miles, Previous Original Owner 47 Years, Euro Car, Survivor, Rust Free, Gorgeous!

This is an increasingly rare find. This fine example is part of the Philip Lutfy, MD Mercedes collection and doesn’t disappoint. His cars are known to be the very best and this is a stunning example.

Dr. Lutfy acquired the car from Phillippe Pas, a well know broker in Europe. He bought it from the original French owner who sold it at after 47 years and 24,000 miles of enjoyment. Having accumulated a mere 24,000 miles with one owner, this is a rust-free and nearly perfect car, ready for serious Preservation Class entry in Concours events, touring or daily classic use. Dr. Lutfy states that this is his best driving of his ten Pagodas.

We love cars like this. This is a preservation class show-stopper. It is nearly all original. The Anthracite Metallic paint with Bamboo MB Tex interior is nothing short of stunning. The colors look very modern but reflect a sophistication and elegance that makes sense in France. There are a few signs of some touch up and clear coat repair over the years, but it is obviously the original paint. The interior looks like new in almost every respect. The MB Tex, carpet, wood and chrome are what you would expect from a perfectly preserved 24,000 mile car.

The black canvas soft top and the matching Anthracite Metallic hardtop are also nearly perfect.

The original spare wheel, tools, etc. Even the spare tire is the original, unused, Firestone Phoenix tire! Dr. Lutfy installed new Phoenix reproduction tires for the four tires, leaving the spare original.

Overall, this 280SL is cosmetically in gorgeous original condition and is as comfortable on the show field as a driving tour. Any maintenance needed was performed on the motorcar by Dr. Lutfy’s preferred Mercedes engineers.

The engine compartment and rest of the car has an excellent minimal amount of patina that is stunning. Look at the photos of the engine compartment. The cadmium plating looks all new, but they are all original and breathtaking.

The car is absolutely as rust free as you will ever find. It is in remarkable condition. The trunk is in perfect original condition as well as the mat in the trunk. This example has the power steering, automatic transmission, bumper overriders, tinted glass and the factory hardtop in Horizon Blue.

The chrome is in excellent condition. This car has obviously been garaged its entire life.

The car will be sold with the file, books, tools, and, if desired, the carrier for the hardtop.

This is an increasingly rare opportunity to find a one previous owner 24,000 mile survivor that is a nearly new 51 year old motorcar. For more details please call, email or text Harry Clark at +1.602.245.7200 or sales@classicpromenade.com. The 280SL is available for viewing in Phoenix, AZ.

The Mercedes-Benz SL-Class is a grand tourer sports car manufactured by Mercedes since 1954. The designation SL derives from the German Super-Leicht, (English: Super Light). The original idea was suggested by American importer Max Hoffman, who perceived a market for a toned-down Gran Prix car tailored to affluent performance enthusiasts in the booming post-war American market, which remains the primary market for the vehicles. The SL designation was first applied to the 300 SL, often referred to as the "Gullwing" due to its gullwing or upward-opening doors. The SL is still today the top of the line roadster for Mercedes, and one of the most popular luxury performance cars of all time.
