THE ESSENTIALS
SOLD to St Louis!! This is an absolutely showroom new 1966 Mustang Convertible that is optioned perfectly to use as a concours show car or for touring. This car has won several Mustang Club of America (MCA) Gold awards. This means it consistently scored several times in excess of 665/700 points. This is a C code 289 CI two barrel car with dual exhaust that is incredibly well done. We love the GT level trim package and the optional center console.
This has it all, a gorgeous deep luster Raven black exterior paint with a light tan top and a Parchment with black luxury pony interior (Trim code F6). It features all the options you’d want, such as air conditioning, the C-4 automatic transmission, power steering and brakes (front disc brakes added for safely and performance), white wall radials and a trunk rack!! It is the most beautiful Mustang we’ve had the pleasure to sell. This won’t last long!
The provenance of this Mustang is vital to its value. Jeff Mays is a renowned and long time Mustang expert and is the past President of the Mustang Club of America. Mr Mays helped acquire and restore this car for his mother, Ms. Beverly Bragg from Pensacola, FL. back in 1998. It was a very nice and solid car when it was acquired. It was purchased from and then restored by the Mustang experts at Salter Restorations in Pensacola, FL and was completed for Ms. Bragg in 2000. This Mustang was built on October 20, 1966.
Ms. Bragg won many MCA Gold awards at various Mustang meets and enjoyed it for at least 13 years. Within the MCA she won every award possible and ultimately received the MCA retirement award. This explains the quality of the restoration and the thoroughness of the options on this car. After each judging, they meticulously corrected any deductions noted by the judges. In total, Ms. Bragg accumulated about 6,200 miles on the car driving to various MCA events around the US. After the MCA retirement, she then trailered the car to local and regional concours events.
The present owner, Ms. Linda Ellison, bought this car from Ms. Bragg in October of 2011 and continued to make the car even better. Upon the purchase, Ms. Ellison had Nites Classic Specialties in Maple Valley, WA perform many thousands of dollars of improvements to make the car what it is today. Ms. Ellison added power steering and front disc brakes to make it more pleasurable and safer to drive.
The Raven Black livery (Paint code A) is just gorgeous. The factory never had paint this nice. It is difficult to find fault with this example. The Mustang passed our forty item inspection with flying colors, needing nothing. There are a few pieces of chrome, such as the door vent frames, that have very minor pitting. Upon very close inspection, there are insignificant fish eyes and some debris in the paint. And the overall wear on the car appears to be that of a car with one to two thousand miles (or similar to a newer car with minimal use). We are pleased to perform a live FaceTime or other video inspection call.
