This is a fresh four year concours restoration of a beautiful hand-built 1956 Mercedes-Benz 300Sc Coupe. The restoration was literally finished in March 2020. It has been owned by the Arsuaga family for the past 30 years in La Jolla, California. This 300Sc has never been shown and will provide ample opportunity to the new owner to share it at concours events worldwide.
According to the data card supplied by Mercedes, this was a USA delivered car from new to Mr. J. Louis. The Arsuaga family bought it from the internationally known 300Sc expert Chuck Brahms. This is one of the 98 fuel-injected 300Sc coupes built by Mercedes-Benz and one of the most rare post-War offerings by the factory. It is rare to have a 300Sc that was delivered new in the USA, and has been in California for most, if not all of its life.
The vehicle offered here is a beautiful example that has been subject to a complete no-expense spared restoration. The livery is finished in a deep dark blue and the body retains all the original chrome work, which was individually made to fit each car. Inside, the deep tan leather is matched with original handles and fittings capped off with the carefully restored walnut dashboard. The rear compartment includes a purpose-built stowage compartment, and the spare wheel and tools are in excellent condition. The tan leather luggage is in the trunk and really sets the motorcar apart as the ultimate touring machine.
This is a stunning, high quality restoration by Sebastian Dominguez at SB Coachwork Restorations in Southern California. They are well regarded for their metal finishing without using fillers. The 300Sc was in nice original condition when the restoration was started. Every component of the car was rebuilt and restored. The original chrome wheels (correctly date coded) look fantastic. This 300Sc is ready for concours competition world-wide. It has yet to be shown and is worth of Pebble Beach, Amelia Island and Villa d’Este. It has recently been inspected by a renowned expert who verified the quality of the restoration work.
The finishing mechanical fine-tuning has been completed by Doctor Jaguar in Albuquerque, NM. The Coupe has been prepared for long distance and spirited touring and is very well sorted. This motorcar is ready for immediate enjoyment.
