Harry's Thoughts
THE ESSENTIALS
This ’56 Ford F-100 is drop dead gorgeous! It was originally restored and built in the mid 80’s by Wendel Smith, the owner of Colorado Customs, American Racing, Rampage Wheels and other well known companies. Our client, Brian, purchased it from a friend of Wendel’s about two years ago and started a complete rebuild. With 1,000 miles and completed in October 2012, this truck is fully sorted and ready for tour or show!
It is absolutely gorgeous in a metallic orange with pinstripe and flame detailing.
The engine is an early 1970’s 454 cu. in. Chevrolet with a GM 400 automatic transmission. The transmission was checked and resealed about 1,000 miles ago. The steering column is from Classic Performance Products.
Brian installed a Front Runner Vintage Air conditioning system that works beautifully. The truck has a 1970’s Camaro front clip with many parts being replaced with new as well as a Mr. Roadster Jaguar style independent rear end. The rear end has Dana 44/4.10 gears.
The tan interior was completely rebuilt by Collins auto trim including a new high-output stereo, speakers and sub-woofer. The seat frame is a brand new Glide Engineering unit with tilting, etc.
Some additional extras are power windows, electric parking brake actuator, Edlebrock wheels, refinished bed wood with new aluminum strips, a smooth rear tailgate and Mar-k tail gate latches. There are no wiper motors because this truck is too nice to drive in the rain!!!
The build quality and finish are fantastic. This is a fabulous opportunity to acquire a well built custom ’56 Ford truck at a fraction of the cost to build. For more details please call Harry at 602.245.7200 or email us at harry@classicpromenade.com.
