We offer on consignment this gorgeous three-owner Southern California car that was bought new in Riverside, CA in 1928.  This Locke bodied seven passenger Touring is a high quality and correct older restoration that is suitable for touring and exhibition.  The past family has enjoyed this stately Lincoln for the past forty years and it is now available for its new caretaker.

The body is perfectly solid with solid door and nice panel alignment.  It is obvious that the Lincoln has led a charmed existence with loving caretakers.  The car exudes correctness and originality, albeit while wearing a forty year old restoration!

The paint and chrome have a consistent patina.  The livery is very tasteful and elegant in tan and brown contrasted with black fenders.   Rust was never an issue with this Lincoln given its sheltered Southern California history.  The paint and chrome is good and is perfect for touring and exhibition.

The interior is in very good condition.  The interior would be considered very nice for touring and show.  The light tan leather has the correct grain and is a fabulous complement to the ample use of wood throughout.

The original 383.8 V8 engine and chassis are in good condition and show years of steady use and maintenance.  It drives well and is used regularly.  The engine and drive train sound excellent with no unusual noises or vibrations.  The six wire wheels are nicely painted in tan.

History of the Lincoln

Bought new in 1928 in Riverside, CA, the original owner kept the Touring until being sold to a local physician in the late 1950’s or early 60’s.  The physician commenced a correct high quality restoration in the late 1960’s that remains in nice condition today.

The present owner’s father was a significant collector of Classic motorcars in Southern California.  He couldn’t resist buying this newly restored Seven Passenger Touring when it came up for sale in the early 1970’s.  He enjoyed the car and used it often, including in the Hollywood Christmas Parade.  By 1983 he had passed away whereby the Lincoln was transferred to his daughter and her husband, Tom and Pat.

Tom and Pat have enjoyed the Lincoln ever since.  Their seven grandchildren have fond memories of using the jump seats and running boards.

This elegant and sporty Lincoln still bears its California “blue plates” issued in 1982.  It runs and drives well but would need some maintenance for significant long distance touring.

The Model L was powered by a 383.8 cubic-inch flathead V8 engine with aluminum pistons and offering 90 horsepower. It was connected to a three-speed manual gearbox.
