THE ESSENTIALS

SALE PENDING to Ohio! This is a nice restoration of a very solid 1970 Datsun 240Z that was from Southern California. Overall, this is a great driving tour car that can be a classic daily driver or reserved for weekends and car and coffee. We love the sleek lines on the car, resembling a Ferrari GTO!

Painted in its original Orange (Code 918), this was restored about six years ago by a collector of Z cars. The repaint is in good condition for local car shows and has a nice shine and luster. The bodywork is straight and the car overall looks to be a nice car and would be a terrific car to drive and enjoy. The chrome and stainless are in very nice condition, including the bumpers, etc.

The black vinyl interior appears all correct and in very nice condition. All the instruments function as they should.

The car was restored to be very original and correct. It even has its original carburetors, which these days is a rare sight to see. The car runs and drives very well. The period correct wheels look right on the car, and the wheel caps bear the Z logo. The engine is the correct factory original numbers matching engine.

The 240Z was said to be in an accident many years ago when the car was worth little. There is no evidence of any accident except that the title is salvaged. This was while it was in California. The present owners live in Scottsdale and have owned it for the past four years. During their ownership it readily completed the Arizona Governor’s Cup Rally which is about 600 miles. Next year is the 50th anniversary for the 240Z and this would be a terrific one for the show field.

Interesting Fact: The Datsun 1600 Roadster was produced until 1970 and was a part of the Datsun Fairlady line. This line encompassed the Datsun 1500, 1600, and 2000 roadster. This model was occasionally marketed as the Fairlady 1600, but its official name was also the SPL311.   This model comes with a pair of SU carburetors and a 1.6-liter inline-four engine that provides 95 horsepower under the hood. With a top speed of 105 miles per hour, the 1600 roadster is a powerful vehicle that had decent sales during its peak years. A special fact about this car is the Datsun badging on the sides in export markets, but the Fairlady side badges in Japan.   A big reason for the move away from the 1600 Roadster was to comply with safety standards. While some technological advancements were added to this vehicle, the Datsun 1600 Roadster is a classic in the fact that it would not hold up to modern safety standards. Besides this fact, the Datsun 1600 is a remarkable classic that many collectors still search for today!
