Harry's Thoughts

This is one of my all time favorite Ferraris. A classic name plate on a very cool modern supercar!

THE ESSENTIALS

See inspection report, full photos, videos and more at classicpromenade.com.

This particular Ferrari is part of a 70-car private collection in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The current owner, who has been a Ferrari collector for the last 40 years, has taken excellent care of this lightly used example. Originally delivered to Lake Forest Sports Cars in Lake Bluff, IL, this Ferrari has spent most of its life in the Midwest (but garage kept and fair weather driven of course!). And, with nearly $65,000 worth of options, this California has some very nice “goodies.” It’s also worth noting that this car has a transferable CPO good until February 2021.

We love the rare and exclusive Avorio “Ivory” 190 paint. It’s actually what Ferrari calls a “historic color” and is a $11,855 standalone option! (note: this cost is what Ferrari charges to reload the pain gun at the factory with this very rare color). This tribute to the Ferraris of yore is a timeless color and suits the California very well.  We think this color makes the car look very elegant.  The paint is in excellent condition, with lots of depth and shine. This Ferrari also has the optional $4,600 sports wheels, which we think add some great character.

In the interior, the two-tone Iroko leather has a very classy, understated and luxurious look to it. The $3,500 power seats and $5,000 diamond stitching complete the look. Likewise the $4,100 leather headliner and $4,000 diamond stitched sports steering wheel are excellent touches. Finally, we’re big fans of the parking / backup camera (a $3,600 option). Overall, this California’s interior is simply gorgeous and is in excellent condition.

Mechanically this Ferrari is in excellent condition. The engine runs beautifully, the transmission shifts as designed, and of course, it has that intoxicating Ferrari sound. This California has been regularly serviced and cared for, and the inspection report will show a vehicle in very good condition. One of the many accessories this Ferrari has is the ceramic brake package. Needless to say, this car stops well!  Review the inspection report for the details.  But with an MSRP of $261,780, this Ferrari will be an incredible value.

In sum, this Ferrari is highly optioned, well maintained, and luxuriously appointed California example. We have no doubts it will be very loved by it’s next owner.  For more information and details, please call, email or text Harry Clark at +1.602.245.7200 or sales@classicpromenade.com.  The Ferrari is able to be viewed in New Mexico.

Interesting Fact: The name “California” was revived from the 1950s Ferrari 250 GT California Spyder. Launched at the 2008 Paris Motor Show, the Ferrari California was designed to attract new Ferrari owners. This car stands out from other models due to its higher ride height, but it is still considered a landmark model for the company. A gasoline direct injection system was produced by Bosch that helps the engine yield 453 horsepower at 7,750 rpm and a 0 to 62 acceleration in 4.0 seconds. The California is also monumental in that it was the first Ferrari vehicle to feature stop/start technology. There was a period in 2012 where Ferrari was forced to recall some models (approximately 200) due to engine issues, but the problem was quickly fixed. Car lovers and collectors everywhere look for any chance to get their hands on a Ferrari California due to its impressive performance and build.
