Z07, 3LT, 8000 Miles, 700HP Lingenfelter Package

$88,800

Harry's Thoughts

The seventh generation Corvette was well received by enthusiasts and the Grand Sport is what many believe to be the best of the bunch.

THE ESSENTIALS

This is a well cared for and fully loaded 2017 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport with racing inspired upgrades from Lingenfelter Performance Engineering. Two owners have logged just under 8,000 miles since new between climate controlled garages in California and in Phoenix, Arizona. With a clean CARFAX, 3LT Comfort & Convenience Package, Z07 Performance Upgrades, $95,000 sticker price from GM and over $30,000 invested in the 700HP Lingenfelter package, you’re looking at a meticulously kept, showroom quality Corvette.

The Watkins Glen Gray Metallic Paint is accented with the subtle Carbon Flash colored fender hash stripes that have become synonymous with the Grand Sport Corvettes. A welcome addition to the body of this car is a high quality paint protection film that is only noticeable if you’re looking for it. This protects the paint from rock chips and scratches, without degrading the brilliance of the paint. The removable roof on this Grand Sport is made from lightweight carbon fiber with sueded microfiber headliner and is painted to match the exterior of the Corvette. Further setting this Vette apart from it’s lesser optioned models is a downforce adding carbon fiber front splitter, side rocker extensions, and stage three aero rear spoiler. Further supporting the level of care this Vette has received is the front splitter that is free from blemishes, despite it’s lower stance. The sinister theme continues with the black aluminum wheels with a thin red stripe, optional on the Grand Sport. On our inspection, we did notice one very small chip on the passenger side rear wheel.

The optional Jet Black Napa leather perforated Competition Sport Seats ($1,995) offer thick bolstering and are contrasted with bright red seat belts, both designed to hold the occupants in place in any driving scenario.  The interior still has the new car smell and the leather still feels soft and supple, with no signs of wear.  Because this is a 3LT (the highest option for comfort and convenience offered on the Grand Sport), the occupants can enjoy heated and ventilated seats, a custom black leather wrapped dashboard, door panels and center console, and the black sueded microfiber upper trim package, among other welcome additions, detailed below. All of these options remain in showroom condition.

Mechanically, this Corvette was purpose built to be very track capable, while maintaining a drivability suitable for long commutes. The stock LT1 motor is known for having a very wide power band, and this Grand Sport takes it a few steps further in performance by way of an Eaton supercharger and other upgrades from Lingenfelter Performance Engineering. After this Grand Sport left the facility in Bowling Green, KY it was sent to Decatur, IN to the engineers at Lingenfelter’s headquarters to begin the metamorphosis into the first 700HP packaged C7 Grand Sport. Upgrades include the supercharger, ported heads, upgraded camshaft, LT4 fuel pump, washable high flow air filter, ECM reprogramming, and Lingenfelter chrome fender badges, and interior and engine badges. On our test drive, the eight speed automatic shifted wonderfully and felt more like a grand tourer than a thoroughbred race car.

When we say that this Corvette is fully loaded, we aren’t just referring to the 3LT Equipment Group. Looking at the original window sticker, you’ll notice that this Grand Sport was also given the Z07 Performance Package. This was a $7,995 track-focused option package available only to the Grand Sport and Z06 Corvettes. Included in the Z07 Package are Brembo Carbon Ceramic brakes, Pilot Sport Cup Summer Tires, and the specially tuned Z07 Suspension. The current owner also added the aforementioned paint protection film, high quality window tints, and a K40 radar/laser detection and dispersion kit (with remote).

In 2017, the Grand Sport returned again, leveraging more than 50 years of technology transfer from the track, while incorporating the distinctive styling attributes and special-edition aura that made previous versions popular with collectors. It is also the first production model to incorporate the chassis and suspension elements of the high-performance supercharged model in addition to its wider tires and fenders. With Corvette Racing in its DNA, the all-new 2017 Corvette Grand Sport is a pure expression of the car’s motorsports-bred pedigree. It was introduced on March 1, 2016 at the Geneva International Motor Show. Like the 2015 Le Mans-winning Corvette C7.R GTE Pro race car, the new Grand Sport combines a lightweight architecture, a track-honed aerodynamics package, Michelin tires and a naturally aspirated engine. The 2017 Corvette Grand Sport offers an estimated 1.05g in cornering capability – and up to 1.2g with the available Z07 package. Heritage-inspired design cues and exclusive features acknowledge the historic Grand Sport legacy, established in 1963 to take on the world’s best sports cars.
