Harry's Thoughts
THE ESSENTIALS
This was bought new and enjoyed by one of our clients, Ron Jones. It is striking in its red metallic and gorgeous chrome accents. He intentionally modified very little from stock specifications. It has a dual exhaust system that is well balanced and engineered to optimize the torque and power. The carburetors have been tuned to provide better flow specifications to match the exhaust design for this 88 cu in (1,450cc) V-Twin engine. It has been faithfully and regularly serviced by Quaid Harley-Davidson in Temecula and has had no other modifications.
As with all Road Kings, it has the hard cased free flowing saddle bags in the matching red metallic paint as well as the windshield and passenger seat with quick releasing back rest. These features make the Road King a pleasure to ride for longer rides. They can eat up the miles easily and readily. With the added power of the tuned exhaust the bike pulls strong through the gears.
The Road King is one of the ‘fat-wheeled’ Harleys. It sports two tires, as opposed to the skinny fronts on the chopper-styled bikes. It sits midway between the traditional Fifties-styled Heritage range and the famous Electra Glide touring machines. The Road King is a tourer that also makes a good job of boulevard cruising. It has a big gas tank, a wide saddle, footboards and a pair of deceptively capacious leather-covered saddlebags. Like most any Harley, it glitters with deep chrome and luxurious paintwork.
It is in excellent shape with only a few small paint chips (front his boots hitting the saddle bags while mounting it) and slight discoloration on the front shock tubes. The tires and service are up to date and it is ready for its new owner to enjoy. To view financing alternatives and to learn more visit www.classicpromenade.com.
