1999 Rolls-Royce Silver Spur

1 of 75 Made, 56k Miles, Well Serviced, Beautiful

$32,800

Harry's Thoughts

This is a very sharp looking last-of-the-line Silver Spur. Incredibly rare with only 75 made for the global market, this example is likely unique in its Mulsanne green. The light-pressure turbo makes this more spirited than the traditional Spur.

THE ESSENTIALS

PRICE REDUCED & PRICED TO SELL!!!  This is a well-serviced and beautiful 1999 Rolls-Royce Silver Spur in a very rare Mulsanne Green that has accumulated 56,800 miles and three owners from new.  The color is striking as it is a traditional Bentley color that was applied to this last of the line Silver Spur.  There were a mere 75 Silver Spurs produced for the worldwide market in 1999, making this incredibly rare and likely unique in this color.  The 1999 Rolls-Royce Silver Spur also featured the light pressure turbocharger, making this one of the best performing Rolls-Royces of its time.

This Spur was ordered new by Bentley Sewickley in Pennsylvania.  The first owners had all service and repair performed by Carriage House Motor Cars in Greenwich, CT through July of 2015, at which time it had accumulated 46,000 miles.  The present owner has maintained and serviced the Spur well.  This last series of Silver Spurs were slightly more modern looking with a two inch lower radiator shell and the flying lady reduced in size by 2 inches.

The livery is stunning in Mulsanne (Racing Green) with the original Rolls-Royce alloy wheels that have red accent trim added.  The paint is in very nice condition and is without dents or blemishes.  Any touch up necessary to keep this Rolls looking great has been performed by its owners over the years.  The stainless and chrome are also in excellent condition.  The present owner has added UK flags in the C pilar which look sharp.

The interior is beautiful in its original Autumn leather with Spruce piping and accents.  This was a special order combination with Cotswold carpet and sheepskin mouton carpet overlays.  The leather presents itself well with some use showing on the drivers seat bolster and seat bottom.  The steering wheel also shows wear from use over the years.  These are noticeable upon close inspection.  The burl wood accents have boxwood trim and is overall in good condition with many cracks present as shown in the photo gallery.  Of course, the picnic trays and vanities are provided for the rear seat passengers.  The stereo system has been updated with a more modern Alpine unit.  In addition to the mouton overlays, this Rolls has a very nice set of Coco mats for everyday use.

The engine compartment looks terrific and houses the venerable Rolls-Royce 6.75 liter V8 that features the light pressure turbocharger to produce 300 hp.  As mentioned, this example has been well serviced and has been consistently used.  $25,000 worth of service history documentation is included with the sale.  The hood insulation pad has been removed by its owner.

This Spur comes complete with its tools, spare, owner’s manuals, two sets of keys and service receipts and historical documents.  The CARfax report is clean and verifies the history of this Rolls.

The NADA Value is $77,700, making this a very good value.

Rolls-Royce Silver Spur/Silver Spirit

Interesting Fact: The Rolls-Royce Silver Spur is a long-wheelbase version of the Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit that was manufactured from 1980 to 2000. It was also the first model to feature a retractable Spirit of Ecstasy, which would retract into the radiator shell if dislodged.    Both the Silver Spur and Silver Spirit carried over designs from their predecessor the Silver Shadow. This included using a 6.75 L L410 V8 engine along with a GM-sourced THM400 3-speed transmission. Each vehicle was considered a full-size luxury car and self-leveling suspension systems with ride height control and shock absorbers ensure a comfortable ride quality.   There were two variations of the Silver Spur released in the 1990s: The Flying Spur and the Silver Dawn. The Flying Spur is a turbocharged model that features a higher performance than the base model. Only 134 of these were ever produced. The Silver Dawn is a specialized edition of the Spur and featured new technology for the time such as electronic traction assistance systems and heated rear seats.    Production on both base models officially closed in 1997 but continued until 2000 when the Silver Spirits parts were fully out of stock. The luxurious craftsmanship that went into the production of the Silver Spur and Silver Spirit paved the way for future Rolls-Royce vehicles.
