Harry's Thoughts
THE ESSENTIALS
This is a gorgeous example of a 1997 Bentley Turbo R (LWB) that has been fastidiously maintained by its owner of 20-years. Rarely do we see such a well-maintained Bentley. This Turbo RL is ready to be enjoyed by its next owner. The 1997 models were the ultimate development and most refined of the Turbo R’s. The 1997 Turbo R’s are rare with total worldwide production of left-hand drive models limited to 113 cars. It is very rare to see a top-quality example come up for sale.
Special ordered by Collier Jaguar in Orlando, FL, this Bentley was shipped from the factory to Port Everglades on April 10,1997. The MSRP was approximately $210,000. On December 3, 2002, this Bentley was acquired by its present owner from Vantage Motor Works in North Miami for $85,000, having accumulated 22,503 miles. The owner has carefully maintained her for the past 20-years with regular dealer servicing. In April of 2017, the owner sent his Bentley back to the specialists at Vantage Motor Works who performed about $21,000 in major servicing. It had accumulated 59,796 miles by then. As we stated previously, this is a fastidiously maintained example.
The livery is elegant and timeless in Black (Paint Code 9531101) with twin Soft Tan coachstripes. The Black is complimented well with chrome Bentley wheels, the stainless matrix mesh grill inserts and the red Flying B’s on the wheels and surrounding the car. We love the classic look of the Turbo RL with its terrific proportions. The exterior is nearly perfect and is in close to showroom condition.
The interior is also beautiful in its Soft Tan leather hides (Trim Code A4311) with black piping. The leather is very soft and supple with the driver’s seat showing a minimal amount of wear in the seat bolster and cushion. The Black Wilton wool carpeting is in excellent condition and is complimented by Soft Tan binding and Black Sheepskin overlays. The carpet and overlays are all in very nice condition. The gorgeous burl wood veneers are also in very nice condition. There are a few smaller cracks, but overall the wood is in very nice condition.
The engine compartment is pristine, as one would expect from a car so well maintained through its lifetime. The venerable 6.75-liter turbocharged V8 puts out 385 hp but a more impressive 553 ft lbs. of torque. The driving experience is wonderful from these Bentleys.
