THE ESSENTIALS

It is our pleasure to present this gorgeous all-original with one family since new 1989 Bentley Eight. Covering a mere 45,000 miles since new, this Bentley comes with an extensive service history with documentation starting with the original window sticker, purchase invoice and service records. This is likely one of the very best original examples extant of the 173 LHD Eights produced in 1989.

The Bentley looks stately in its traditional livery of Balmoral Green (Code 9510455) with contrasting beige pin stripe. The paint is all original and in beautiful condition. Upon close examination, there are some areas revealing lacquer cracking. The integrity of the paint is excellent and it will continue to provide long term enjoyment. There is one small dent below the trunk and above the bumper, otherwise it is free of dents and scratches. It does have many normal small chips in the front from highway use. We love the chrome grill shell with the stainless steel mesh grill and the Bentley wheels.

The interior is in spectacular original condition. The Beige leather (Code A4177) is contrasted with Green leather piping (A3655), and the leather is unusually soft and supple due to its continued attention and its life lived in climate controlled garages. The leather is complemented with straight grained wood veneer that is in excellent original condition.

Mechanically, the Bentley is in excellent condition. Nearly all service has been performed through the past 30 years by Bentley and Rolls-Royce dealerships. One exception is the Rolls-Royce experts at Palma Automotive Repairs in Audubon, NJ. Everything works well with the exception of the drivers automatic seat belt restraint system for the shoulder belt. All other features and mechanical components work well.

The Bentley was bought new from Albers Rolls-Royce on the 11th of September of 1989. Longtime collector and RROC member Karl Zoller traded in his 1982 Rolls-Royce Silver Spur which had accumulated 18,431 miles. The original sales invoice of $111,200 is included along with decade’s worth of service history, two sets of keys and all the books and manuals.

If you are considering the acquisition of a Bentley Eight, seriously ponder this. With the one family since new history and stunning original condition, this example is hard to beat. Interesting Fact: The Bentley Eight was produced for six years from 1984 to 1992 and only 1,736 models were ever made. This vehicle was Bentley’s “entry-level” vehicle for the entirely of its production lifespan.   A Rolls-Royce 6.75-liter V8 engine is used to power the Bentley Eight and a four-speed automatic transmission made the model an enjoyable ride. So much so, in fact, that sales unexpectedly spread into Europe and the United States. The first model had cloth upholstery, but leather accents and power memory seats were added over time, signaling how advancing technology changed the car.    The Bentley Eight features an FR layout with a saloon style body that is similar to the Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit. Given that it was an entry-level vehicle, the Eight was designed and sold at thousands of dollars cheaper than the competition. The Bentley Eight is a popular option for car enthusiasts and many still try to find this vehicle today!
