THE ESSENTIALS
This 1984 Pininfarina Spider is an original low millage, extremely well preserved example of this classic and quirky Italian 80’s sports car. With the exception of a new, but very high quality repaint in its original color of Roso Vivo, this Spider is very original. It spent it’s entire life under cover and is absolutely rust-free. As a two owner, fully documented Spider with only 49,000 miles since new, this is the one to collect.
Mr. Hiawatha Davis purchased the Spider on June 27, 1985 at Aurora Imports in Seattle, Washington. For nearly three decades Mr Davis cared for this Spider in the Pacific Northwest. In 1990, Mr. Davis stored the Spider in his garage, where it sat for the next 24 years. The current owner, Kim Pierce, purchased the Spider from Mr. Davis on September 22, 2014.
Mr. Pierce is a Classic Car Club of America (CCCA) Master Judge and a Chief Class Judge for several Concours events throughout the United States and Canada. In addition to having a keen eye for automotive details, Mr. Pierce is the owner of a number of successful paint and bodyshops along the West Coast and it was at one of his facilities where he had his Spider repainted. Mr. Pierce also personally addressed all other mechanical and cosmetic issues, using only original equipment parts. The dual overhead cam, fuel injected motor has had its belts, water pump, fuel pump and heater valve changed less than 1000 miles ago. The vehicle also has new brakes and tires.
The repaint is of beautiful quality and has a show quality finish. It has been very well wet sanded to make it incredibly smooth, far better than the original factory paint. The door jambs are original and the color match is perfect. The door jambs and engine compartment reflect the factory original quality and thus are not as nice as the outside paint.
The interior is all original and is in stunning condition. There are no cracks in the dash, no rips in the carpet, and only very minimal signs of wear on the tan leather seats. The leather is soft and supple. The tan Haartz cloth convertible top is flawless and functions smoothly. Included with the vehicle is a substantial amount of receipts, paperwork, and original books, manuals, etc.
Today, this Spider is in outstanding mechanical condition. The 2.0 liter Double Overhead Cam motor pulls strong, it shifts smoothly through the five speed transmission, and every mechanical feature on the vehicle functions properly. The only accessory not presently functioning is the air conditioning. A small leak in the condenser is believed to be causing this issue. Currently the leak has been plugged but it prevents the A/C from working.
This Spider is truly in amazing condition and will make a high fun, high value classic car experience. It is available for inspection at our Phoenix Showroom. For more information, call or text Daniel Folk at +1-917-890-4230, or at daniel@classicpromenade.com.
