1967 Ford Mustang Fastback

Rotisserie Restomod with 5.0L Engine, 6 Speed, AC!

From the Driver’s Seat - Our team’s personal take on what makes this classic stand out

The 1967 Mustang Fastback delivers the visual drama of a first-generation icon with the confidence and performance of a modern sports car. This is a build meant to be driven and enjoyed often.

THE ESSENTIALS

The 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback represents the first major evolution of the original Mustang formula, pairing a more aggressive body with substantially enhanced performance potential, and this example elevates that concept through a comprehensive, no-expense-spared custom build. Finished in Springtime Yellow over a Palomino interior, chassis 7R02A17131 features a modern 5.0L Coyote V8, a Tremec 6-speed manual transmission, and a fully reengineered suspension and braking system. With approximately 7,000 miles logged since completion of a four-year rotisserie restoration, the Mustang is best suited for spirited driving, touring events, and collectors seeking a restomod with serious capability and presence.

Built in San Jose, California, the Mustang carries a California salvage title brand due to the donor body shell. This Mustang was subjected to an extensive rotisserie restoration that transformed the Mustang into a thoroughly modernized fastback while retaining its unmistakable 1967 character. Limited documentation accompanies the restoration, as the current owner acquired the Mustang at auction, but the quality of workmanship and thoughtful component selection are evident throughout. The digital odometer currently reads 72,612 miles, with roughly 7,000 miles added since completion of the build, and the Mustang is presented as a fully sorted, driver-focused custom rather than a static showpiece.

The exterior is finished in Springtime Yellow, with paintwork that remains in excellent condition and highlights the muscular proportions unique to the 1967 redesign. The longer roofline, sculpted quarter panels with integrated scoops, and distinctive front grille with centered Mustang emblem define the fastback’s visual identity, while the twelve-louver side vents and triple vertical taillights reinforce its iconic status. Aluminum wheels with Shelby-style three-ear knockoffs are wrapped in newer Otani 275/40R18 tires, providing a modern stance and traction that complement the upgraded chassis beneath.

Inside, the Mustang features a Palomino vinyl interior with front bucket seats and a folding Sport Deck rear seat, all in very good condition and consistent with the Mustang’s period-correct presentation. Black carpeting with Mustang floor mats remains clean and serviceable, while the 1967-year-only padded horn pad on the wrapped steering wheel shows light wear consistent with careful use. The brushed chrome gauge cluster houses fully functional original instrumentation, including a 140-mph speedometer with digital odometer, and the light gray polyurethane dash pad remains in very good condition. Factory-style amenities include power windows designed to resemble original roll-up glass, power steering, an AM radio plate over upgraded stereo, functional factory air conditioning, and fully operational interior lighting.

Power comes from a modern crate 5.0L Coyote V8 paired with a Tremec T56 Magnum 6-speed manual transmission and a Kevlar hydraulic clutch, delivering contemporary performance and drivability. The chassis has been comprehensively upgraded with adjustable coil over shocks, upper and lower adjustable front A-arms, and a triangulated four-link rear suspension, all designed to significantly improve handling and ride control. Wilwood four-wheel disc brakes provide confident stopping power, while a custom-built dual exhaust system completes the mechanical package. The result is a 1967 Mustang Fastback that blends classic design with modern performance engineering in a cohesive, usable configuration. Included in the sale are the original owners handbook, phone connection/adapter cables, a set of new floor mats, and spare tire with cover in the trunk.

Interesting Fact: The Ford Mustang has been in continuous production since 1964 and is currently in its sixth generation. This vehicle was originally predicted to sell 100,000 units but ended up selling 400,000 in its first year, and the one-millionth was sold within two years of launch. From 1965 to 1973, the Ford Mustang was created from the compact Ford Falcon. In 1974, however, Ford decided to rework the Mustang to be a longer-wheelbase version of the Pinto. This model, called the Mustang II, was standard until the Mustang began using the Fox platform in 1979. The Ford Mustang stopped using the Fox platform in 2005 and has since produced two generations that use their own unique platforms. The sporty vehicle has offered six-cylinder and eight-cylinder engines throughout its lifespan, but a four-cylinder model is the base today. Throughout the years, varying models of the Ford Mustang were denoted with different nameplates such as GT, Mach 1, Cobra, and more. This muscle car is still a popular option for car buyers and enthusiasts today!
