Harry's Thoughts

This is a very nice example that is sure to help make its new caretaker many happy memories!

THE ESSENTIALS

This is a fantastic original 1966 Cadillac DeVille convertible with a fully documented 89,000 original miles.  This car wears its original livery with only a few panels being touch up with new paint as necessary to keep the car in beautiful condition. It still has its original glass rear window, black convertible top and top boot which are in very nice condition.    It is a fabulous original car that can be enjoyed as-is at local and regional concours events and would handily perform well in Preservation Class competition.

This car was purchased new on January 1, 1966.  By January 14, 1970, Mr. Ted Struck purchased the car as he was released from the Navy.  He needed a car and acquired the DeVille at a Chevrolet dealership.  Of course, the manager of the dealership used the car for his daily transportation until sold!

Mr. Struck has kept the car in fantastic original condition over the past 42 years.  He has all the invoices for repairs in a meticulous file, starting with the sales invoice from 1970 through all repairs and maintenance items since.  Nearly every service and repair was performed by the famous San Diego Cadillac dealership, Marvin K. Brown.

It has a fully functioning original black convertible top in very nice condition- so nice it is amazing that it is original.   The car has recently installed white wall radial tires and mechanically is excellent and has been fully serviced.   This is a very clean and nearly rust free example with nearly any signs of rust.   We have included detailed photographs of the undercarriage for details.  It is very close to rust free and very solid as you would expect from a California motorcar.

Each DeVille produced had the powerful 429 cu in V8 with 340 hp.  The 129.5 in wheelbase makes for a very smooth and luxurious ride with an overall length of 224 inches.  Of course this DeVille is loaded with options including air conditioning (not presently working due to a frozen compressor), cruise control, wonderbar radio, power seats and power windows and top. These 1960′s Cadillacs are fabulous motorcars.

The NADA value shows High Retail at $27,5100 and Average Retail at $19,740.  See details of the value at: http://www.nadaguides.com/Classic-Cars/1966/Cadillac/Deville/2-Door-Convertible/Values

This, being a fully documented survivor living with one loving owner in California for the past 42 years this example is a terrific value.  For more details please call Harry at 602.245.7200 or email us at harry@classicpromenade.com.

Interesting Fact: The Cadillac Series 62 is a full-size luxury car that was produced by General Motors for 14 years from 1940 to 1964. This vehicle had seven generations over the course of its life and was occasionally marketed as the Sixty-Two or Series Sixty-Two.   In its earliest years, the Cadillac Series 62 body resembles a sleek “torpedo” style C-body that features slant in the windshield along with a curved rear window. The original engine in the Series 62 is a 5.7-liter Monobloc V8 that outputs 135 horsepower. This model sold extremely well and accounted for 37 percent of Cadillacs sales in 1940.   Eventually, the Cadillac Series 62 went in a boxier direction for the body until the model was renamed to the Cadillac Calais for the 1965 model year. Although the Cadillac Series 62 was discontinued, it is still viewed as a class and is sought after vehicle for many car enthusiasts!
