Harold Radford Adaptation, Air Cond, 64k Documented Miles

Harry's Thoughts

It can take years to find a Radford Bentley or Rolls-Royce. This is a gorgeous, low mile example that can be shown or used for tours. It comes complete with history and documentation since new.

THE ESSENTIALS

SALE PENDING to Rhode Island!!   This is a lovely and rare 64,000-mile 1963 Bentley S3 Saloon with adaptations by renowned coachbuilder Harold Radford.  With known ownership history from new and service history since 1976, this Bentley has a wonderfully documented provenance.  It remains in show quality condition today and is ready for touring and normal use.  It is always rare to find a Bentley in beautiful condition with Radford adaptations.

The livery is formal and elegant in its Masons Black and is complimented by off-white coachstripes.  The paint has beautiful shine and luster and is overall in very nice condition.  There are a few small touched up chips from normal use, and it is free of dents or scratches.  It had benefitted from a high-quality repaint that has held up very well.  The chrome and stainless are in very nice original condition with just light surface scratches from its 64,000 miles of use.

The Bentley factory records called out that this S3 was to be delivered to Harold Radford Coachbuilders for further modifications.  Installed by Radford was the requisite cabinet behind the drivers seat in the area normally acting as the picnic table.  In the cabinet today is a wonderful assortment of sterling silver vanity items.  It is just gorgeous.

The leather interior is featured in Beige (VM 3234) and had been refinished with new hides that are today in very nice condition.  The leather is very soft and supple.  The Beige Wilton wool carpeting is beneath the Beige Sheepskin Mouton overlays covering both the front and rear passenger areas.  The overlays are also in very nice condition today.  The burled walnut wood is in excellent condition and has a gorgeous graining.  This S3 also has electric windows, an electric antenna and a vintage Motorola AM/FM radio.

With five owners from new, this Bentley has been cherished and cared for.  Ordered new for Mr. G. O. Nenwisth in Great Neck, NY, it was first used by Mr. Andrew Gortway of Wimbledon, London.  Mr. Gortway enjoyed the Bentley until it was acquired by Mr. Lewis Perry Mac Adams of Dallas, TX.  Mr. Mac Adams added it to his listing for the RROC Directory in 1972.  In November 1976, Mr. Harriss Covington of High Point, NC took ownership of the Bentley.  It is this point forward where all the service records have been maintained in an immaculate binder included in the sale.  Mr. Marc Fleming of Spokane, WA was the penultimate owner and in 2004 it was acquired by the present owner.

The sale of this S3 includes the binder of historical documents from day one, service records from 1976 and onward, the original owner’s manual, a complete service manual and more.  The S3 comes complete with its large tools, its spare and most of the small tools in the tool tray (missing a bub or two).  The 153-point inspection report is available on our website on classicpromenade.com.
