Harry's Thoughts

THE ESSENTIALS

This is a nice recently restored T-Bird coupe that is rust free and has benefitted from a repaint, new upholstery, updated mechanicals, rebuilt engine and is ready to tour and enjoy!!  This is a nice driver quality T-Bird that could be used as a daily driver.

Originally from Minnesota, this T-Bird was garaged its entire life.  Factory undercoating and garaged kept means that this Thunderbird is entirely rust free.  Look carefully at the photos of the undercarriage.

We love the T-Bird coupes in Sandshell beige.  It is a terrific original color combination.  The paint is all new and is highly serviceable and looks sharp.  New rubber seals were installed throughout.  The paint shows imperfections when examined closely but overall looks nice.

The new upholstery is correct and very serviceable.  Also installed were new carpeting and headliner.  While the steering wheel shows some cracks the dashboard looks nice with no cracking.  Also added is am AM/FM T-Bird stereo (and the original AM radio is included).

The engine has been thoroughly rebuilt and the engine and engine compartment have been painted and detailed to a concours level.  Review the photos carefully to see the results of the huge investment to make it showroom new and correct.  The venerable 390 cu in V8 has a new Edelbrock carburetor and a recently installed upgraded exhaust system.  There are a mere 1,500 miles on the rebuilt engine and transmission.  Much of the restoration was performed or overseen by the Prescott, AZ T-Bird experts at Casey’s Auto Repair.

The front end and suspension are also recently upgraded.  Mechanically this T-Bird can be enjoyed as a daily driver.

Interesting Fact: The Ford Thunderbird is an upscale vehicle that featured eleven unique generations. This vehicle sparked the expansion of the market segment for personal luxury vehicles that feature a higher emphasis on driving comfort, rather than high-speed performance. Production on the Ford Thunderbird occurred from 1955 to 1997 and then again from 2002 to 2005. By the end of 2005, Ford had managed to produce over 4.4 million Thunderbirds. The car was originally designed as a sporty two-seat convertible but was not marketed as such. Within a few years, a second row was added, and the Ford Thunderbird is known for getting larger and large in size until the late 1970s. Many V8 engines have been used in the Ford Thunderbird over the years. As the size of the model increased, a larger engine was also required to support the vehicle. This resulted in later models having poor fuel efficiency. While they weren’t advertised for speed, Ford used the Thunderbird body in their NASCAR races, with many hitting an average speed of about 200 miles per hour. The final Thunderbird was manufactured in July of 2005, but the vehicle still holds up as one of the most comfortable and high-performing cars to date!
