Harry's Thoughts

This is a very nice example that is sure to help make its new caretaker many happy memories!

THE ESSENTIALS

This 1962 Corvette is great for touring and showing!  This is a fully restored motorcar that was not done to be “over-restored”.  This was a restoration of a car that was bought new in Arizona in July of 1962.   The body is finished in resplendent Roman Red, black vinyl interior and a new white soft top.  1962 was a terrific year: it benefited from updated styling and engineering improvements and was the first year of the venerable 327 cu in V-8 with 300 HP.  Just dynamite when paired with the factory four speed transmission!

The proper 327 CID V-8 engine delivers a smooth power through the optional close-ratio four-speed manual transmission.  This motorcar has benefited from the addition of correct appearing whitewall steel belted radials for far superior handling, ride and safety.  This Corvette is a fabulous driver, not a trailer queen.  Although this would be a competitive show car in most local car shows it would not be a major concours winner; this has been restored to be a well sorted touring Vette that could also be shown with pride- something that is often rare.

Everything works as it should.  It is not a numbers matching engine.  The VIN is 20867S104381 and the engine number is 3958512.

This Corvette was a relatively early production car with a Nov/Dec 1961 build date.  The title for this motorcar shows that this Corvette has been registered in Arizona since it was new.

More details, photos and videos will be forthcoming as we are presently preparing the car for proper presentation.  The photos in the gallery and the video are before we have detailed the car.  We are presently servicing the car thoroughly and will detail the undercarriage, engine compartment and the interior and exterior when we are done performing the service and repair work.  For a market valuation please see the NADA value guide as follows (This is at least a High Retail condition car):

This is a rare opportunity to acquire an excellent driving 1962 Corvette.  The costs to restore such a terrific car as this is far in excess of our asking price, let alone the purchase of a Arizona car to begin with!!  So don’t hesitate with this one!

According to “Keith Martin’s Sports Car Market price guide”  the range in value for 1962 Corvettes is $50,000 to $88,000 based upon recent prices these cars sold for at auctions, etc.

Interesting Fact: The Chevy Corvette has been in production for over 60 years and eight design generations have been created. Executives decided on the name “Corvette” by comparing it to the small maneuverable warship. This vehicle is also widely known as “America’s Sports Car” and is one of the most popular vehicles in history. This vehicle has always been offered in either a 2-door coupé or convertible. Over the years, different engines have been used ranging from 5.7-liter LT1 V8’s to 6.2-litre LT5 supercharged V8’s. Today, the standard Chevy Corvette uses a 6.2-liter naturally aspirated V8 that gives the car 495 horsepower and a 0 to 60 acceleration of just 2.8 seconds. Notable variants of the base Chevy Corvette have been produced over the years, such as the Stingray and Z06. In the early 1970s, GM president Ed Cole was convinced to provide three NASA astronauts with new Corvettes, and this led to a long-standing unofficial tie between the companies. The Chevy Corvette is still one of the highest-performing vehicles in production and is a dream car for many!
