$174,800

Harry's Thoughts

This is a very nice example that is sure to help make its new caretaker many happy memories!

THE ESSENTIALS

SOLD to the UK!!! This is as close as you’ll find to a perfect 1960 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz convertible with only 7 miles since a complete concours quality, no-expense spared restoration. The restoration was recently completed and was performed by an expert in the Chicago, Illinois area. Look at the photo gallery for the incredible attention to detail. This is certainly one of the best in existence and the color combination is fantastic. It is owned by a very well known collector in the Chicago area who has a collection of spectacular cars.

The Ebony black (Paint Code 10) is flawless and is complimented with the Red Leather (Trim code 19) with a black convertible top. It had originally been specified with a white top, but during the restoration it was decided that the black top would be more fitting and elegant. We certainly think it was a stunning choice. The Biarritz has most of the factory options, including the six way power windows and factory air conditioning.

The Cadillac was a very nice and solid example prior to restoration. And the restoration was performed to make it a competitive show car as well as a wonderful touring car. This would be a wonderful motorcar to add to a collection. It has yet to be shown to the public and would be accepted to most any concours event worldwide. We love the incredible design of the 1960 Biarritz. They are elegant and truly exemplify Americana.

Cadillac renamed the Eldorado Convertible the Biarritz to differentiate it from the new Seville 2-door hardtop coupe introduced in 1956. For 1958, Eldorados, along with all Cadillacs, received an annual facelift, complete with the new quad headlamp setup appearing on virtually all makes for the model year. Bumpers were revised and the rubber ‘Dagmars’ were less pronounced and set lower against the parking lamps. The grille was stretched nearly full-width and made up of dozens of round points. Eldorados received a strip of stainless-steel running from the headlight trim rings back to the midpoint of the car along with lower rear quarter panels covered in stainless steel. Standard on Eldorado was Cadillac’s 335 bhp 365-cu. in. V-8 engine equipped with three Rochester two-barrel carburettors and backed by a Hydra-Matic automatic transmission. General Motors celebrated its 50th Anniversary in 1958 and Cadillac built its two-millionth car. Just 815 Eldorado Biarritz Convertibles at a cost of $7,410 (before options) were built during the year, adding to their desirability today among collectors.
