THE ESSENTIALS

SOLD to Seattle!! Just in is this collection of 1955, 56 and 57 Bel Air Convertibles that have been together for over 25 years. This is a gorgeous older restoration of the iconic 1955 Chevy Bel Air Convertible. We have documentation dating back to 1960, nearly 60 years of history! Look at many of the trim items. There are many very rare options, such as the front bumper over-riders, the side trim and the rear spare.

It is a complete frame-up restoration that included removing all the original paint and repainting it in the classic India Ivory and Gypsy Red (Paint Code 617). The paint is in very nice condition with some touch ups over the years. The chrome and stainless are in very nice condition with a few small dings in some of the stainless. The correctly done beige convertible power top is in excellent condition.

The interior is also very nice in a matching red and white vinyl, that works very well with the red and white livery. The photo gallery shows the quality of the restoration and it was done quite authentically. It also has a modern “Chevy” stereo added, but is otherwise very authentically restored (although the color had been changed).

The Bel Air has been upgraded with front disc brakes (with a dual master cylinder for safety) and the V8 runs and drives beautifully. The power top, gauges and accessories work. The clock is not operational.

According to some of the historical documents, this Bel Air was featured in many TV shows and movies. More details coming soon! Interesting Fact: Even though the Chevy Bel Air was produced from 1950 to 1981, for the first two years of production, the Bel Air was only a two-door hardtop. However, the Bel Air name was expanded to other models until 1975 when production ceased in America. The Chevy Bel Air was still produced in Canada through 1981.   The Chevy Bel Air set a new standard for automobile design by originally having a non-detachable solid roof. This new model saw tentative success with only 76,662 models produced at $1,741 (roughly $17,000 today). A tested Chevy Bel Air had accelerated from 0 to 60 in 19.6 seconds, which was respectable for muscle cars of the day. As production continued over the years, Popular Mechanics reported that the Bel Air’s 0 to 60 time was improved to 12.9 seconds via a newly implemented V8 engine. This model was featured in the 1973 movie American Graffiti as driven by Harrison Ford. This helped the Chevy Bel Air to become the popular classic that thousands across America enjoy driving everyday!
