Harry's Thoughts

This is an impressive Resto Mod that is just gorgeous!

THE ESSENTIALS

This is a beautifully built 1955 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible Resto Mod that was subject to a three-year comprehensive restoration.  This is the ultimate easy to drive 1955 Cadillac convertible that looks completely stock from the exterior and with tasteful modifications to the interior.  With a 400 hp LS2 V8 engine and sequential fuel injection, disc brakes and modern power rack and pinion steering and air conditioning, this is a comfortable and enjoyable car to drive!  And it has a gorgeous mechanical restoration too!

This Cadillac benefitted from a three-year restoration that is documented in its entirety in a photograph album.  The livery is Mercedes Metallic Charcoal that is in concours condition with wonderful shine and luster.  It is polished for show.  The chrome and stainless were sent to Finishing Touch and are fantastic.  All the lenses and such appear to be NOS and perfect.  The chrome wire wheels look just right with the wide white walled radials.  The burgundy canvas power convertible top is also stunning and in as-new condition.  Overall, this Cadillac is like a piece of art or jewelry.

The interior is a Burgundy leather with matching carpeting and dashboard.  The power seats are from a 1964 Cadillac and the center console is from a 1963 Oldsmobile.  All the gauges were rebuilt and calibrated, and a Howell wiring harness installed for the engine management system.  The Vintage Air controller is hidden inside its glove box and a special tilt steering wheel.  This Cadillac has all the power accessories you would expect.

The magic of this Cadillac is under its hood with a LS2 engine and 4L60E automatic transmission.  The 400 bhp V8 is fuel injected and provides 400 ft. lbs. of torque.  The Flowmaster 2 1/2-inch exhaust sounds incredible while not being too loud.  The exhaust is routed correctly through the rear bumper.  The Cadillac is completely devoid of rattles because of the Lizard Skin and Eastwood sound deadening added through its restoration.  It then benefitted from heat shielding as well.  It also benefits from the Ride Tech Shock Wave air suspension that can be controlled from its key fob.  Overall, the Cadillac is fast and powerful, yet incredibly smooth riding.

Interesting Fact: The Cadillac Series 62 is a full-size luxury car that was produced by General Motors for 14 years from 1940 to 1964. This vehicle had seven generations over the course of its life and was occasionally marketed as the Sixty-Two or Series Sixty-Two. In its earliest years, the Cadillac Series 62 body resembles a sleek “torpedo” style C-body that features slant in the windshield along with a curved rear window. The original engine in the Series 62 is a 5.7-liter Monobloc V8 that outputs 135 horsepower. This model sold extremely well and accounted for 37 percent of Cadillacs sales in 1940. Eventually, the Cadillac Series 62 went in a boxier direction for the body until the model was renamed to the Cadillac Calais for the 1965 model year. Although the Cadillac Series 62 was discontinued, it is still viewed as a class and is sought after vehicle for many car enthusiasts!
