Harry's Thoughts

This is a very nice example that is sure to help make its new caretaker many happy memories!

THE ESSENTIALS

This is a nice driving and very solid ’50 Ford F-1 custom that can be used on a daily basis and shown at local shows on the weekend.  With a new Summit crate Chevy 350 V8 and new crate Turbo 400 transmission this a nice driving truck (engine and transmission are both still warrantied).  The geometry of the truck feels as though it has power brakes and power steering but it is not so equipped.  It also has a Camaro ten-bolt 3:08 ratio rear end.

It runs and drives very well with an all new Edelbrock 500 carburetor and intake manifold.  Also added is a brand new exhaust system that sounds terrific and is high flowing.

They used an EZ wiring kit with a billet gauge cluster housing new Dolphin instruments.  The shifter is the very cool Lokar.  The wheels and wheel covers are custom made by WheelSmith in Corona, CA.  The radials have about 150 miles of use.

All new paint, interior and instrumentation makes this a very nice truck in ready to use condition. The bed uses new Oak tongue and groove planks, all custom made.

With less than 270 miles since the restoration this is as fresh as you can get.

Interesting Fact: The Ford F-1 was a half-ton pickup truck that was originally introduced to the public in 1947. When one thinks of a classic truck, the F-1 is typically the picture that pops into people’s minds. Assembly on this model occurred all around the United States and production continued until 1952.   As a member of the F-Series, the F-1 was one of the first pickup trucks in a line that would become one of the most popular in the world. The F-1 is distinguishable by its wider cab and stainless-steel trim, along with the unique option of having two horns. Both a two-door and four-door panel truck were available, and either a Flathead V6 or V8 are used in this model.   All F-1 models are manual transmission. At one time, a panel van was even developed, but the lack of popularity stopped it from becoming a trend with the F-Series as a whole. All in all, the Ford F-Series has become one of the most popular lines of trucks and the F-1 was the vehicle that started this trend!
