Harry's Thoughts
THE ESSENTIALS
This is one of the nicest ’50 Custom Convertibles on the planet. Look at the treasures of New Old Stock accessories on this gorgeous convertible. This is a multiple award winner that you could drive anywhere and enjoy today!
This Ford was built new at the Long Beach, Ca Ford plant. It was bought by the present owner/restorer, Bill Monteleone in 2004 from a gentleman in Reseda, Ca who had stored the car for over 20 years and had amassed a huge collection of rare NOS parts. The NOS parts include accessories that one just never sees on a 1950 Ford.
Shortly after Bill bought the car he embarked on a complete body-on restoration to very high standards. He was restoring it as a car that would be sure to win awards as well as perform well for tours. And he achieved his objective!
It has been a consistent award winner. Bill and his wife even drove it to St. George, Utah where they won a first place!
The engine was rebuilt by the Engine Service Center in Apple Valley, CA. It was bored .30 over and has a 4″ Mercury crankshaft. Only the addition of headers and minor cosmetic liberties make this restoration differ from stock. The upholstery is rolled and pleated rather than the more subdued stock flat interior.
We love the look of the black vinyl accented by the red piping. In addition, the black top having the red accent looks terrific and really sets it off well.
it would take years and cost in excess of $100,000 to restore a Custom Convertible to this level. This was a rust-free California car that has a proven award winning restoration that was professionally done.
