THE ESSENTIALS

SOLD to Canada!! This is a nice older sympathetic restoration of a very solid original 1948 Chrysler Town and Country Convertible. This Town and Country is mechanically well sorted with the Fluidrive transmission recently rebuilt. Whether you are into showing or just driving classics, this is one to consider.

This Town and Country is part of the Janet Cussler Car Collection in Scottsdale, Arizona and is now available for sale. Janet and her husband, best-selling author Clive Cussler, are world-renowned for their beautiful classic car collection.. The Chrysler would make a very nice tour car that would be welcome in most all local shows and events. As a full classic with the CCCA, this can be used on CARAvans and other major events.

Cosmetically, the Town & Country looks very sharp! The paint is nice for touring and local shows. It is without dents or scratches and has a beautiful luster. The wood is all original and in good condition. It has been refinished recently and looks very nice. The insert panels are done with wood appearing vinyl rather than veneer. This looks sharp and eliminates any maintenance on those panels.

The interior features two-tone blue and tan leather interior and blue carpeting. The leather is very nicely done and is soft and supple. The dash is mainly original and unrestored and is in good condition.

The chrome is largely original and overall in good condition. The chrome is overall nice with the pot metal pieces having some pitting that is obvious upon close examination. The glass is very nice. The canvas top is correct and the top mechanism works really well, too!

The engine is very strong with good performance and oil pressure. The engine compartment is well detailed and looks great. She runs and drives beautifully! Our inspection revealed that it is a very solid driver with the fan blower, radio and clock not functioning.

The chassis is had been heavily undercoated and has not been restored or detailed. It shows some areas where there was rust repairs underneath but overall this is a solid, honest woodie.

Interesting Fact: The Chrysler Town & Country has had two completely different variants over the years. From 1940 to 1941 and 1945 to 1988, the Town & Country was a full, and then mid, sized station wagon. However, from 1990 to 2016, the vehicle was turned into a minivan. The original Town & Country features an all steel construction and is a four-door luxury station wagon. Production paused for World War II and, when it resumed again, the Chrysler Town & Country had been turned into a mid-sized station wagon that soon began using a 6.8-liter V8 ending to provide reliable power. Chrysler stopped producing the Town & Country as a station wagon in 1988 but reintroduced the brand in 1990 as a minivan that features a V6 engine. In 2017, the nameplate was dropped and replaced by the Chrysler Pacifica. Their minivans were far more popular than the station wagons, however, and were ranked as the 13th bestselling automotive nameplates in the world with over 12 million sold. This is a unique vehicle given the massive change in design starting in the early 90s but is loved by drivers all across the world!
