Harry's Thoughts

This is a wonderful original Convertible Coupe that has been restored only as needed. The Post-War Cadillac's are some of the nicest driving Classics and offer a wide range of club touring and show experiences.

THE ESSENTIALS

PRICE REDUCTION of $10,000!  Priced to sell!!  This is a beautiful example of a 1946 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible that is in mostly original condition having accumulated 73,000 miles from new.  With a gorgeous original leather interior, freshly rebuilt engine and an older repaint, this is perfect for CCCA touring while nice enough for most regional concours events.  This example features the highly desirable Hydra-Matic Automatic transmission making it a great touring classic.

The current owner commenced a complete professional engine rebuild in 2017 to ensure performance and reliability. This Cadillac has enjoyed occasional weekend use, having accumulated less than 1,000 miles since. This is a stunning Series 62 that is one of only 1,342 built, making this a great CCCA Full Classic for both touring and showing.

The livery is beautiful in its original Seine Blue (Paint Code 121MK) which was repainted in 2009. Today it has wonderful overall presence with nice shine and luster while having several areas of small touched up chips and some fading.  Only upon close inspection can you see some minor imperfections. This is a very attractive color that appears contemporary today, accentuating its sleek and sexy lines. The black canvas convertible power top is newer and in excellent condition and we love its contrasting blue piping.  The chrome is in very nice condition and shows very well. The wide white wall radials are complimented by the red wheels and the iconic Cadillac wheel covers.  This Series 62 comes with optional dual side mirrors, dual fog lights, and backup lamp.

This Series 62 is dressed in its gorgeous original blue leather interior (Trim Code 55B) which is in overall excellent condition. The leather has the expected patina of 76 years but overall is soft and supple today.  There are two areas where its seams are split.  These can be repaired but are minor overall.  The front powered seat makes for ease of adjusting and it’s very comfortable to ride in.  This Series 62 comes well equipped with power antenna, power windows, and the power-operated front seat. The dash is beautiful with its chrome accents, push button radio, and clock. The blue carpet is in great shape and appears to have been recently replaced. The steering wheel, dash, and upholstery are all original and in beautiful condition. The gauges are all working.

The engine compartment is very clean and painted throughout. The original 346 cu. in. V8 has been professionally rebuilt and is in good running order. This Series 62 runs well and handles nicely. The file of service records show that it has been properly maintained.

This Cadilliac is very well equipped with its optional features and comes with service records, spare, lug wrench, and jack.

Interesting Fact: The Cadillac Series 62 is a full-size luxury car that was produced by General Motors for 14 years from 1940 to 1964. This vehicle had seven generations over the course of its life and was occasionally marketed as the Sixty-Two or Series Sixty-Two. In its earliest years, the Cadillac Series 62 body resembles a sleek “torpedo” style C-body that features slant in the windshield along with a curved rear window. The original engine in the Series 62 is a 5.7-liter Monobloc V8 that outputs 135 horsepower. This model sold extremely well and accounted for 37 percent of Cadillacs sales in 1940. Eventually, the Cadillac Series 62 went in a boxier direction for the body until the model was renamed to the Cadillac Calais for the 1965 model year. Although the Cadillac Series 62 was discontinued, it is still viewed as a class and is sought after vehicle for many car enthusiasts!
