Harry's Thoughts
THE ESSENTIALS
PRICE REDUCED!! This is quite possibly the nicest restored 1939 Ford Coupe in existence. This has won the coveted Dearborn Award and has scored 998 points, proving the quality of the restoration. It has been cared for by a significant collector of classics, leaving it in nearly perfect condition today. We love the beautiful lines and stylings of this gorgeous coupe.
This was a longtime one family owned since new Ford that for decades was desired by renowned restorer, Lloyd Duzell. The family was from Northern Illinois and this coupe was kept to exceptionally high standards. Although Mr. Duzell was highly regarded for his Pebble Beach restorations of CCCA classics, he was a true Ford enthusiast. After decades of pursuing this coupe, Lloyd was finally able to acquire her. He then set out to apply the same fanatical quality of restoration to this simple 1939 Ford Coupe. It was Lloyd’s intent to restore a model that was as austere and practically equipped as it was when new. And the results are spectacular!
This 1939 Ford Standard Coupe was judged with a near perfect score of 998 points at the 2014 Illinois Concourse Division of the Early Ford V8 Club. It has travelled 987 miles since its restoration and has been fastidiously maintained and driven short distances with regularity.
The Blue livery is absolutely gorgeous, as to be expected from a Lloyd Duzell restoration. The livery is its original and correct factory color. All of the chrome and stainless-steel trim have been restored and are concours quality. Every exterior detail is nearly flawless.
The Beige upholstery was also fully restored and is in as-new condition. The floor mats, beautiful wood grain dash, steering wheel and all controls are in show condition. There is one small chip on the dashboard, otherwise the interior looks better than showroom new.
This Standard Coupe sports a V-8 Model 221 cid Flathead motor. She produces 85 hp at 3,800 rpm. The power is transmitted through 3-speed manual transmission. She’s capable of reaching speeds near 120 mph! The engine shows its original engine numbers as from the factory. The engine compartment is exceptionally detailed and shows beautifully. The chassis is also very well detailed and restored and is in overall exceptional condition.
This is an extremely rare opportunity to purchase a true show quality American automobile icon. This is without question the best example mechanically, cosmetically and authentically speaking that a collector will likely find. The Hagerty Value for a No. 1 example for Deluxe Coupe is $82,000. We have this priced to sell.
