Harry's Thoughts

This is a very nice example that is sure to help make its new caretaker many happy memories!

THE ESSENTIALS

SOLD to Manitoba, Canada!! This is a ground up concours restoration of a 1930 Cadillac series 353 Sedan in two tone blue.

This incredible example was the subject of a ground up professional restoration in 1988 with receipts totaling around $125,000.00. The car is one of the most spectacular Cadillacs we have seen from the era, Open or Closed. Everything was rebuilt and restored. Look closely at the interior photographs, too. We love two tone wool broadcloth, the window shades, the smoke exhaust vent in the ceiling of the rear passenger compartment. This car projects the height of luxury and elegance.

This motorcar was restored in about 1988 by Steve Frisbie, the owner of Steve’s Auto Restorations in Portland, Oregon. Cars restored by Steve have been shown in concours events all over the states, including Pebble Beach. He has also served as a judge for concours events, including Pebble Beach. Steve has informed us that this car was in very solid original condition and free of rust when he received it for restoration (although somewhat apart). He restored it for Gene Bradshaw.

As you can see, the chassis detailing is thorough. We love the leather gatored springs. Having covered about 5,000 miles since restoration, the car runs and drives exceptionally well, and really needs nothing to be immediately campaigned on either the show or touring circuit.

Finished in a striking two tone blue color combination, the car has won several awards including Best of Show at the 2013 Lake Oswego Show, Most Elegant Car at the Vancouver, WA Concours, and a Class Win at the Forest Grove Concours. This would be welcomed at almost any concours field since it is rare to see an enclosed Cadillac of this vintage with this level of restoration.

Obviously this was a labor of love restoration that one rarely sees on a Sedan. If you are looking for the Finest of its kind, look no further. This is a special car.

Interesting Fact: The Cadillac Model 353 saw a short lifespan, only being produced in 1930 and immediately being replaced by the Series 355. A 353 cubic-inch V8 engine powered the vehicle and is also what gave the Model 353 its name.   This car was manufactured in a two to four passenger build with coupe or convertible options. The 353 is known for its attractive features, such as the tan upholstery and original instruments that give it a uniquely classic feel.   Given that the 353 only saw one year of production, there are not many driving around roads today. Despite this, the model 353 is considered one of the best driving class-era Cadillacs and best-looking builds as well. This Cadillac’s rarity makes it a sought-after item for collectors and proves difficult to find today!
