Harry's Thoughts
THE ESSENTIALS
This Auto Red Bug is the second oldest Red Bug in existence and has just had a complete and total restoration performed, which was completed in early 2019. This Red Bug has been part of a private collection for some time, but was an older restoration, probably done in the 1950’s. The restoration took the better part of a year, and it was done to a very high and historically correct standard. Every aspect of the Red Bug was restored, re-plated, re-upholstered, and re-painted and polished as it left the factory. A lot of research time went into the restoration to ensure everything was done correctly, mostly due to the assistance of the renown Red Bug expert, Jed Rapoport.
The red paint is the exact color and hue the Red Bug was painted when new. The brightwork is correctly plated in nickel. The seat is upholstered in the correct material and padded with correct horsehair, just the way it was done at the factory. The wood slats are the exact wood used when new.
The Red Bug runs perfectly, steers the way it should, and stops the way it should. The condition is exactly what it looks like in the photos.
*Please note Title is listed as clear because eBay would not take a bill of sale listing. Due to the fact Auto Red Bugs have no VIN and thus are not licensed to travel on public roads, it is being sold with a bill of sale only.
