1973 Porsche 911S Coupe
Calif Car from New, Complete Gorgeous Restoration, Rust Free, Investment GradeHarry's Thoughts
THE ESSENTIALS
This is a beautiful example of a 1973 Porsche 911S Coupe that had spent its life in California and benefitted from a concours quality restoration. Being a Black on tan California delivery car from new, this is one of the most desired specifications for a 911S. Having been completely restored, this 911 is in nearly perfect investment grade condition.
The Black paint (Paint Code 1010) is pristine with fabulous depth and luster. The paint remains nearly perfect and most likely far better than when the 911 left the factory. The paint work was performed by the craftsmen at Deluxe Customs in Tempe, AZ in April of 2021. All of the chrome and stainless-steel trim is also in showroom condition. The wheels have been upgraded to what are believed to be date code correct offset Porsche RS Fuchs wheels that are in excellent condition. The RS wheels give a more aggressive stance. The correct tinted glass is also excellent throughout with correct markings.
The interior is also in showroom new condition and was restored by Stuttgart Interiors in Phoenix. The Russet Leatherette (Trim Code 21) has been slightly upgraded to a beautiful tan interior is as-new and is supportive and comfortable. The seating surfaces are mostly leather with some vinyl used for the perforated sections. The driver’s seat has been upgraded to a factory original Sport Seat. The tan carpeting is also in as new condition with black and tan Coco Mat overlay mats that look just right. The instruments all work as intended except the clock, which is non-operational. The black and tan dashboard and steering wheel are also as new and look spectacular. Overall, every aspect of the interior is in restored and in spectacular condition. The photo gallery on our Classic Promenade website has 136 photos and three videos detailing this 911S.
The engine is very well detailed, and the drive train and suspension have all been rebuilt and are in excellent condition. The venerable 2.4 liter flat six-cylinder engine has excellent performance and is paired to its five-speed manual transmission. The engine number on its original engine is correct and authenticated with a Porsches Certificate of Authenticity. This 911S needs nothing to be enjoyed.
Importantly, the original belly pan on this 911S is without any rust and in excellent condition. This is very rare to find. All chassis, suspension and brake components have been restored. The odometer is showing 58,115 miles and that is believed to be correct and original.
The spare wheel is in its fully restored trunk along with a tool roll with all the correct proper tools in excellent condition. An original owner’s manual is also included in the sale. All exterior lights have been upgraded to LED for safety purposes.
We have this 911S priced well. The J.D. Power High Retail Value is $327,800. The Hagerty Value Guide shows a No. 1 condition valued at $272,800 including the premium for the five-speed manual transmission. According to Hagerty, the No. 1 value for the 911 S has increased by 8.3% over the past year. See the report here: 1973 Porsche 911 S | Hagerty Valuation Tools
