Harry's Thoughts

This is a very nice example that is sure to help make its new caretaker many happy memories!

THE ESSENTIALS

This is a gorgeous original Cadillac that has been in the ownership of San Diego area collectors for decades.  With 35,000 original miles, fully featured, including air conditioning, this is ready for a Preservation Class entry at a concours.

This survivor was added to the collection of Rug Cunningham of Cunningham BMW decades ago.  Upon Mr. Cunningham’s death in the early 1990’s many of his cars were sold.  This Cadillac was then bought by another San Diego collector of nice original Cadillac’s, Shannon Sigler.

This gorgeous original car still has its original paint and interior, as one would expect from being kept in Southern California in loving hands.  While showing a few minor blemishes, this Cadillac is a spectacular original.

Service history helps document the incredibly low mileage.  By July 1969 the Cadillac had amassed a mere 17,692 miles.  By 1977 it had amassed 27,000 miles.   In July 1995 records indicate 30,173 miles.  And presently the motorcar has approximately 35,000 original miles.

1964 was the first year of the iconic 429 cu in V8 engine and turbo hydramatic transmission.   Wearing a newer set of radials and incredibly low miles, this Cadillac drives like a dream.

More details and photos will be forthcoming soon.  If you have any questions please feel free to call Harry at 602.245.7200 or email us at harry@classicpromenade.com.

Interesting Fact: The Cadillac Sedan DeVille started out as a trim level of Cadillac vehicles, but eventually became its own line in 1958, with production continuing until 2005. This full-size luxury car gets its name “DeVille” after the French translation, meaning “of the town”.   The model was first shown during the 1949 Motorama and was placed onto a Cadillac Sixty Special chassis. At launch, the going price was $3,496 which equates to roughly $31,000 today. Remembered for the sharp tailfins added to the model, the Sedan DeVille is easily distinguishable on the road. As the generations developed, the styling choices calmed by a little bit and became far smoother than before.   Over the years, the DeVille has switched between being Cadillac’s mainstream vehicle to just another vehicle in the line. With that said, it was the largest model in Cadillac’s lineup during its final year in 2005, before being renamed to the Cadillac DTS. Even though the DeVille is no longer in production, the earliest models with the unique tailfins are rare finds that many attempt to add to their garage!
