THE ESSENTIALS
This is a multiple concours award winning example of the elegant 1937 Cadillac V12 Model 85 Convertible Sedan with Division with coachwork by Fleetwood. Having benefitted from a no-expense spared restoration, it won its first CCCA National First in 2006 and by 2010 it earned a National First and its CCCA Premier Senior award scoring 99.5 points. It is in concours ready condition today and is mechanically excellent in every regard. This is one of a handful known and may arguably be the best example extant.
The livery is finished in Antoinette Blue, which appears black with a blueish hue. The paint quality is gorgeous and exhibits only a few small chips from normal use. The chrome is perfect with no visible flaws. The tan canvas convertible top is equally as pristine. The wheels have the larger chrome wheel covers and are in perfect condition, as are the dual side mounted spare wheels.
The red leather interior is like new and striking against the dark livery. The leather shows no wear and is soft and supple. The tan wool carpeting is correct and in as-new condition. The tan carpet and tan canvas headlining brighten the interior compartment. Surrounding the doors and interior are beautiful panels of perfectly finished two toned wood trim, including a gorgeous burl wood. In the rear passenger compartment are two footrests, the cats eye cigar lighters and a Jaeger clock. The roll up division window adds a formal touch. Everything works as it should.
The engine compartment is concours ready and shows the quality of the restoration. The 368 CID V12 produced 150 hp with its dual Detroit Lubricator carburetors. The three-speed center shifting transmission shifts smoothly and features syncromesh. This V12 is surprisingly fast and powerful for its 138 inch wheelbase. It is an absolute pleasure to drive and feels in every way to be a top-notch restoration.
In addition to the several CCCA Firsts, it also earned its Cadillac LaSalle Club National Senior Award No. 308. The quality of the restoration is supported by the chassis finish. It is simply perfect. Please review the photos in the photo gallery to understand the level of restoration and the attention to detail.
The present owner has enjoyed this Cadillac for the past 14 years and it is ready to be enjoyed by its next fortunate caretaker.
