This is a beautiful and classic example of a 1987.5 Rolls-Royce Corniche II that spent many of its years in Beverly Hills and Southern California. This has been well cared for and is in very good condition today. Having never been in an accident this would be a nice Corniche II to drive and enjoy. Fittingly, this Corniche II is fitted with two cocktail requisites built into each door panel.
This Corniche was purchased new from Greg Motors via Beverly Hills Rolls-Royce. It left the factory on the 30th of March 1987 and was bought new by Mr. Tatham of Beverly Hills on the 12th of May 1987. This is an early 20,000 series Corniche, which had many important improvements over the earlier models. Most of the early service work was performed by Rolls-Royce of Beverly Hills. By May of 1990, Dr. Lawrence Birnbaum of Beverly Hills acquired the Corniche, by then having accumulated 24,953 miles. The last owner is a client of ours and a member of the RROC. They have enjoyed this Corniche for the past 14 years.
Ordered in the stunning livery of Masons Black with twin fine coach stripes in tan, it was repainted the classic Rolls-Royce colors of Magnolia with twin tan coachstripes. It still retains a Tan Everflex (Code 5202) convertible top and is complimented by chrome Rolls-Royce wheels.
The interior is elegant in its original Tan leather (Code A4143) with contrasting piping in black leather. The tan leather interior is in remarkable condition belying its 33 years of age. The driver’s seat has minimal creasing with a six inch area showing wear of the original tan dye and black piping on the drivers bolster. The interior leather has never been re-dyed and is in very good condition. The burl walnut veneer is also excellent, with no chips, one small crack near the ash tray, no fading or discoloration. The wood is in nearly showroom condition. A sport wood steering wheel has been added and looks fantastic. In the center of the wood wheel is a built-in navigation system that cleverly hides behind a Rolls-Royce logoed panel that removes in a second.
The Cumberland Stone Wilton wool carpeting is bound with tan leather and is in good condition. A JVC high powered stereo system has been professionally installed and works well.
The Rolls comes complete with service records, a clean CARFAX, its owners’ manuals, books, tools and the inspection report. Most of the accessories work as they should on this Rolls except the driver’s side mirror does not adjust horizontally electronically, the driver seat doesn’t adjust as detailed in the 158-point inspection report. The suspension and brakes are all up to date and serviced. With 106,000 miles covered over 33 years, this Corniche has been consistently used and maintained through the years as opposed to many that have sat for long periods of time, neglected. It has averaged 3,200 miles per year of use through its life.
For valuation purposes, the NADA high retail value is $79.5k. Further, the Hagerty Price Guide values are $84.5k for No 1, $69,000 for No 2, $56,000 for No 3 and $47,000 for No 4. This example is clearly a No. 3 car and will be bought well.

Good morning Harry and Company! A quick question regarding the power driver’s seat (which does not move): a. Is it possible to move the seat manually should I not fit in it (I’m 6’2″ and am mildly concerned I might not, although the seat’s current position looks fairly far back!), and b. what would be your estimate on costs to effect a repair on that component? Hi Fred,
The back portion of the seat still tilts upwards and downwards, however it does not slide forwards or backwards. I am also 6’2 and about 220 lbs. Where the seat currently is positioned is perfect for me. I have taken a few photos of me in the car for you to get a better idea of space. Please see the last 3 photos in the gallery. Since my 1987 Corniche II suffered an engine compartment fire last month, this is of imterest to me, although I have already purchased a Bentley Azure [from Classic Promenade] to replace it. A couple of questions: One, it appears from the video that a short section of the black piping is frayed on drivers side seat – is that right? Also, these Corniches often have an issue with “slow” window operation [It’s a judging point on the RROC judging checklist so I know it must be a common issue]. I thought this might fly under the radar of the inspector,if rhe windowsworked at all, so I ask that you check the four windows to verify is they operate briskly [please note if checked with or without the engine running]. I spent a fair amount fixing mine and two years later they were slow again. Inspection checked “not applicable” for trunk light, however that model should have a trunk light. Finally, you note the high retail value from NADA, . When I checked the high was $79.5K the low $31.5K. Hagerty, it said “No value data available.” Do you have to have a paid subscription or how can one check? Thank you.
Hi Andrew, Nice to hear from you. There is about a six inch portion of the piping on the bolster where you enter and exit from the driver seat that is worn through and frayed. Most all of the tan leather is in nice condition with only one small section in the same area that has wear that we chose not to have touched up. Regarding the windows, they all work, however they are all slower (this is with the engine off and ignition in On mode). There is no trunk light on this Corniche. I’m not sure what the discrepancy is as it should have one, one would think. Oddly, the Hagerty website no longer has data and our Hagerty Price Guide says $84.5k for No 1, $69,000 for No 2, $56,000 for No 3 and $47,000 for No 4. I’ll upload a photo of the book values from Hagerty. Also, let me know if you want us to mail a Hagerty Price Guide to you. I will update the numbers in the listing based on this information.
