Harry's Thoughts

This is a very nice example that is sure to help make its new caretaker many happy memories!

THE ESSENTIALS

This is a fabulous California “Blue Plate” Mustang that had a long-time Newport Beach, Ca woman owner.  It has accumulated about 89,800 miles since new.  Our consignment client bought it many years ago and set out on a full restoration.  He has restored numerous Mustangs, each award winning quality.

The Mustang is gorgeous.  The panel fit is as good as you will ever see on a 1965 Mustang.  There has never been rust, it has always been garaged and there have been no accidents.  It is fully restored and everything works well.  The seller is meticulous.

It has power steering and automatic transmission but not power brakes.  The seller highly recommends not installing power brakes in the early series Mustangs as they are light and agile and do not need them (as opposed to the later series Mustangs that gained substantial weight).

It has a completely new interior and top all done to original specifications.

The car is in concours condition throughout.  It would score highly in show judging  with the added benefit that it is mechanically excellent and without ever having rust.  The original 1980’s vintage Blue California license plates will come with the car and adds significant value to the car as it is a certification of sorts that it is a rust free car from new.

This is beautifully and thoroughly restored.   It drives as well as it looks!!

It comes with the original number correct 289 V-8 and original automatic transmission.  Everything is rebuilt and as new.

Interesting Fact: The Ford Mustang has been in continuous production since 1964 and is currently in its sixth generation. This vehicle was originally predicted to sell 100,000 units but ended up selling 400,000 in its first year, and the one-millionth was sold within two years of launch. From 1965 to 1973, the Ford Mustang was created from the compact Ford Falcon. In 1974, however, Ford decided to rework the Mustang to be a longer-wheelbase version of the Pinto. This model, called the Mustang II, was standard until the Mustang began using the Fox platform in 1979. The Ford Mustang stopped using the Fox platform in 2005 and has since produced two generations that use their own unique platforms. The sporty vehicle has offered six-cylinder and eight-cylinder engines throughout its lifespan, but a four-cylinder model is the base today. Throughout the years, varying models of the Ford Mustang were denoted with different nameplates such as GT, Mach 1, Cobra, and more. This muscle car is still a popular option for car buyers and enthusiasts today!
