Harry's Thoughts

This is a very nice example that is sure to help make its new caretaker many happy memories!

THE ESSENTIALS

This Cadillac Eldorado is gorgeous in light blue metallic with light blue leather interior. The elegant white convertible top gives it a terrific look. This car overall is in good to very good condition.

The paint was resprayed in the original color in 1995 by Dan’s Custom Paint. We are selling this Eldorado on behalf of the family of the deceaed owner who enjoyed a multi-million dollar colleciton. He bought the car in 1998. Over the years, the car has accumulated about 65,000 miles.

Cosmetically, the Eldorado is in good to very good condition. The paint is in very nice shape. The drivers side plastic between the fender and the bumper needs to be replaced and repainted. The interior leather is in very good shape. The drivers side seat has one area of wear that reflects the age and mileage of the car. But overall the presentaiton is nice.

The transmission was rebuilt in 2015 and previuously he had the top rebuilt. Many of the repairs were done by the local Cadillac dealer here in Scottsdale. Mechanically, the car operates well and the air conditioning blows cold. It is pleasant to drive. The clock is not working.

This Caddy is powered by a massive 500 cubic inch V8 engine that runs great and doesn’t flinch at the notion of carrying this big car down the interstate at cruising speed. This motor has a reputation for reliability and is amazingly responsive upon acceleration. The power plant is backed up by a sturdy three-speed TH 425 transmission that shifts flawlessly. Put this car on a lift and you’ll get up close and personal with a meticulously-engineered suspension system that delivers one of the smoothest rides you could ever imagine. With torsion bars up front and a coil spring set-up in back, this car handles like a dream and floats down the highway like you’re riding on a cloud. Add four-wheel disc brakes and you have a driving experience that combines safety and comfort.

Interesting Fact: The Cadillac Eldorado had twelve generations spanning five decades and was consistently at the top of the Cadillac line. Production on the vehicle occurred from 1952 to 2002 but carried the Cadillac Fleetwood designation from 1965 to 1972. With the first generation, the Cadillac Eldorado features a two-door convertible body style that uses a 5.4-liter V8 engine with a four-speed Hydra-Matic transmission. This vehicle originally went for sale at an expensive $7,750 which was equivalent to $75,000 today. Perhaps due to this price tag, or the power under the hood, the Eldorado only made up .5% of Cadillac’s sales in 1953. The design of the Eldorado changed greatly by the 12th generation, and the convertible style was dropped for a simple hard top. In the end, the vehicle was succeeded by the Cadillac CTS Coupe, but the Cadillac Eldorado still stands as a classic car with an extensive history over the many years of its existence!
