This is a true West Coast two-family 1962 MGA Mark II 1600 Roadster that has accumulated a mere 42,000 miles from new. Having never been fully restored, this has been meticulously cared for, as-needed. It would be acceptable to show at most concours events and has been more recently used in rallies. This is a fantastic rust-free example that has been loved since new.

This MGA was purchased new in the San Francisco Bay Area by Phyllis Hunter and retained by her for over three decades. In her words: “I purchased it new in January of 1963. I was going to buy a Karmann Ghia, but walked into the wrong door! I obviously never left the shop without my new MGA.” In addition to the letter from Phyllis, she included for the MG’s file numerous photos from her honeymoon trip in 1966 and a 1977 trip along Route 66. We love the suitcase on the luggage rack!

In 1999, Phyllis passed the MG onto her son Erik Hunter for his 30th. Erik lived in Seattle and had it transported there for his use. Subsequently the paint was refinished as well as new leather for the seats. In total, the MGA was retained by the Hunter’s for 40 years. It’s next owner is our client, John Tulloch, who acquired the roadster in 2012. Mr. Tulloch added the MGA to his collection of European sports cars. Mr. Tulloch used the MGA sparingly, but invested a total of $16,000 in mechanical improvements with Artisan Automotive in Scottsdale.

The Black livery is gorgeous and is well polished for show. It does have several very small touched up chips that are visible only upon close inspection. Most of the chrome is refinished and in beautiful condition and the chromed wire wheels are as-new. The gray vinyl convertible top is as-new and looks great on the Roadster.

The red leather interior is a combination of original and new. The seats were completely restored and replaced with new matching red leather while the dash and other sections are original and in beautiful condition. Rarely do you see a convertible, especially a British sportscar, with such nice original features. The black carpeting is as new and has extra insulation underneath. All of the instruments work as they should. Side curtains and a new black canvas tonneau cover are included, as well.

The Mark II is the final iteration of the MGA and the most refined. The 1.6 liter OHV Inline 4-cylinder engine produces 86 hp with its twin SU carburetors. The engine and drivetrain have had significant work performed over the past six years, including a fully rebuilt cylinder head, hardened valve seats, new clutch, starter, rebuilt generator and new motor mounts. In fact, $16,000 has been invested to make sure this MGA is ready for touring. The four-speed transmission shifts well through the gears with ease and the front-disc brakes are responsive and confidence inspiring. In addition, the engine and engine compartment were detailed to be shown and look great today. Meanwhile, the chassis is original and reflective of a 42,000 mile West Coast car and without rust or rot.

The NADA Value for this roadster is $56,500. The provenance of this Roadster and its present condition make this a wonderful value. The asking price is firm for this MGA.

For more details and information, please call, text or email Harry Clark at +1.623.404.9042 or sales@classicpromenade.com. The MGA is available for viewing at our Phoenix showroom.

ONLINE ONLY AUCTION at www.classicpromenade.com.

Free To Bid. Inspection reports available. See full photos, videos and more. Auction Dates: Oct 4-18, 2020

This is a gorgeous 1961 MGA roadster that has benefitted from a professional full body-off restoration. This is a complete turn-key example that is ready for rallies, tours and enjoyment. It comes complete with all the expected accessories including the top, side curtains, tools, shop manuals, car cover, tonneau cover, windwings, etc.

The former owner was a physician that wanted a reliable and strong performing British sports car. He found this MGA in 2012 and then set out on a full restoration where every nut and bolt was restored or serviced. The restoration was completed by 2016 and is fully documented in a few inch thick binder filled with receipts and photos. The MGA also includes the British Heritage Certificate.

This MGA was built on August 16th and 17th of 1960 and was sent directly to the US. Its livery is elegant in the traditional Old English White. Since the body was removed from the frame, all portions of the body were completely painted, as well as the frame, suspension and other components. The paint is very nice but has not been completely color sanded. This MGA can be comfortable on the show field but was really designed to be driven. There are many small touched up areas on the paint from normal use, really not noticeable except upon close inspection. The panel fit overall is very nice with the drivers door being slightly off, as you can see in the photos. The chrome and trim are all new or in excellent condition. Items such as the grill and such are all new.

We love the sexy, curvy look of the MGA. At any angle of viewing, it just looks perfect. And with the new fully balanced classic knock-off 60-spoke wire wheels it really completes the look. The black leather interior features white piping and black carpets and the correct rubber floor mats. The leather is very soft and supple. The last owner had a custom center console built with modern conveniences. The tonneau cover is black Haartz cloth canvas and the newer convertible top is black vinyl. The interior and top are all in very nice condition showing limited use. A completely hidden amplifier and speakers are ready for use with your iPhone or other device.

The engine was completely rebuilt and details are included in the attachments. Most all of the internal components, similar to all aspects of the car, are new. Based on the Heritage Certificate it appears that the engine is the original “matching numbers” engine from the factory. The engine compartment is beautifully detailed and the engine has a few important performance upgrades including the Petronix electronic ignition, and a new Lucas sports coil and premium rotor.

This MGA is a pleasure to drive and performs very well. It also flew through our 158-point inspection. This MGA comes with all the desired accessories to make this ready to enjoy.

For more details and information, please call, text or email Harry Clark at +1.623.404.9042 or sales@classicpromenade.com. The MGA is in our Phoenix showroom.

ONLINE ONLY AUCTION at www.classicpromenade.com. With no expense spared, this seductive black over red 1956 MGA Roadster is certainly one of the best examples of the slight British roadster in existence. Previously owned by a noted Austin Healy restorer Steve Spaulding, this MGA had been meticulously restored by the current owner. The total investment in its ground up restoration of this roadster is over 1,000 hours and $140,000. So you know the quality that was performed by Doctor Jag Technologies in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

The restoration is fully documented with extensive accounting detail. This MGA is part of a collection that includes over 30 classic and vintage British sports cars.

The livery is a deep and incredibly well polished black, giving the car a more sinister look. The paints smooth surface accentuates all of the curves that make the MGA a classic design. The black vinyl convertible top is new with soft and clear plastic windows. With a set of Minilite style wheels, racing mesh style grill, and mesh headlight covers, the aggressive personality of this car starts to take shape.

The beautiful red leather interior is stunning and is complimented by black wool carpets that makes this car really look and feel special. The seats are without flaw and you will notice red highlights tastefully added throughout. The painted black dash houses all the knobs and pulls that these cars are known for, and all work as expected. Featured in the instruments are a Jaeger speedometer and tachometer and Smiths temperature and fuel gauges. An MG four spoke steering wheel pulls everything together.

As with any British roadster, the fun begins when you first hear that motor hum. Under the hood you will see a neat and mostly clean compartment, with the expected inline four-cylinder engine, painted in a deeper red, with the period correct plate on the cover. The four-speed gearbox offers plenty of driver engagement during spirited driving.

An independent inspection was conducted, and the report is available for your review. It confirms the incredible condition of this roadster.

For more details and information, please call, text or email Harry Clark at +1.623.404.9042 or sales@classicpromenade.com. The MGA can be viewed in New Mexico.

This is a rare find. A single previous owner of a California “Black Plate” MG A 1600. The present owner has had this motorcar since 2005 and has competed a no-expense spared concours quality body-off restoration. This MG A is presented in stunning condition and is ready for concours competition or touring.

The MG A was so revolutionary — envelope-bodied, low, and sleek — that MG started all over at the beginning of the alphabet and named it the MG A. It was a pure two-seater sports car with bucket seats and an instrument panel boasting a huge speedometer and tachometer.

It thus became the first MG sports car to employ BMC’s “B-Series” four-cylinder engine, four-speed gearbox, and a new type of hypoid-bevel rear axle. Along the way, the MGA was treated to gradual but perceptible improvements in displacement, power, and equipment. The MGA 1600 debuted in 1959 with its overhead valve four cylinder engine boosted to 1,588 cc and 80 bhp. Further, the MGA boasted Lockheed front disc brakes as standard equipment, very advanced for its time.

From the exterior, the 1600 was distinguished by its “two-tier” taillights and discreet “1600″ badging on the decklid and next to the air vents near the cowl. As with all MG As, the grille was a lowered and laid-back version of the “classic” grille seen on the old T-Series MG. Consistent with its modern streamlined appearance, exterior door handles were not provided, giving the car a clean custom appearance.

This stunning MG A was built in England during July 12-14th 1960. The British Heritage certificate is proof to it’s heritage.

The MG A was bought new in Connecticut from Faiola Brothers Cars in Farmington, CT on January 2, 1961 by Mr. Keith McKee. Mr. McKee was enlisted in the Navy and enjoyed the MG A for 40 years! By 1964, Mr. McKee had moved to Gunnison, Colorado and then later to San Diego, CA. The present owner and our client, Randy Lockett, bought the MG A from Mr. McKee in 2005.

In 2005 and 2006, Mr. Lockett competed a full, no-expense spared restoration. The thorough work was performed by the master craftsmen and engineers at The Toy Shop in Bonita, CA. The results of this body off restoration speak for itself. The car is a stunning concours winner. The owner will pass on his extensive history file of receipts. In addition, as one can see from our photo gallery, the restoration is fully documented with photographs as well. Every piece of the car, every nut and bolt was either replaced or restored. The chassis and drivetrain were completely rebuilt with the cosmetics returned to new standards without being over-restored with high gloss, chrome, etc. This is what a new MG A looked like. And the results are stunning.

The coachwork maintains its original color combination of sexy and sporty red with soft and rich black correct interior. The distinctive look of the factory-spec paint and interior color combination is completed by Grey fender welting which subtly highlights the MG A’s streamlined full envelope design like a painted coachline.

The custom made stainless steel luggage rack, chrome wire wheels and knock offs are all new and in perfect condition.

The engine and drivetrain are in excellent, “as new” condition. The motorcar intermittently puffs smoke, most likely a result of not being used as often as it wishes! It will satisfy the most demanding MG owner or first time collector looking for a quality sports car that can be driven to shows and events and then polished up and shown with pride and pleasure.

This is a proper sports car that is waiting to be enjoyed by its new owner. Please feel free to contact us about this motorcar, but don’t wait too long. What is more desirable than a two owner, black plate California MG A 1600 that has been fully restored?

For more details please call Harry Clark at +1.623.404.9042 or email us at sales@classicpromenade.com.

Consistent with its modern streamlined appearance, exterior door handles were not provided, giving the car a clean custom appearance.
This stunning MG A was bought new in California in 1960. The original owner was a school teacher living in Alpine and used her sporty MGA to drive to her school in nearby San Diego. What a perfect car for her to navigate the curvy mountain roads in beautiful sunny San Diego. In 1969 the car was bought by its present owner. For the past forty (40) years he has enjoyed driving the car through the local wine country or to local car events.

In 2005, he competed a full, no-expense spared restoration. The thorough work was performed by the master craftsmen and engineers at British Sports and Imports in Riverside, CA. The results of this body off restoration speak for itself. The car is a stunning concours winner. The owner will pass on his extensive history file of receipts.
