Two Owners- 43,000 Miles- Fully Serviced- Both Tops- Ready to Enjoy!

This is a two family owned since new 1988 Mercedes-Benz 560SL with 43,400 miles from new and has been well maintained. This is owned by a friend and client of ours. He bought it from Schumacher European in Scottsdale, AZ 18 years ago. At that time, it had accumulated 19, 971 miles by the original owners. The roadster is accompanied by decades of documentation for service and history.

This 560SL was build in December 1987 and sold new on April 21, 1988 at Benzel-Busch Motor Car Corp. in Englewood, NJ to Mrs. Dotty Besserman of Upper Montclair, NJ. By Thanksgiving of 1996, the Besserman’s had moved to Scottsdale, AZ. By then, the 560SL had accumulated 19,290 miles. Over the next seven years, a mere 700 miles had been added. The present owner, Mr. Wally Quanstrom of Gold Canyon, AZ acquired the roadster from Schumacher on November 28, 2003 for $35,229. The Quanstrom’s enjoyed the 560SL and kept it well serviced.

The Artic White (Paint Code 147) is in excellent original condition. In 2017, there was some limited damage to the front suspension, which was repaired well with no body work (as noted on the CARFAX). The SL has been garage kept for most all of its life and looks great today for its 33 years of age. The radials are newer with limited miles, but two of the wheels are chromed and two are painted. The roadster comes with its original hardtop, which is in excellent condition. Frankly, it appears as though the black canvas convertible top has been used two or three times since new. It is rather pristine.

The Palomino Leather (Trim Code 274) is original and in very nice condition. There are three or four very small nicks in the leather, but overall the interior is in great shape. Importantly, the dashboard has no cracks or issues. The wood is darker which contrasts well with the tan interior. There are two small cracks in the wood which are seen in the photo gallery. The headliners of the hardtop and the soft top are in excellent condition. The tan carpeting is also in very nice original condition. We love the original First Aid kit behind the seats.

The engine compartment confirms the 43,400 miles and belies the 33 years of age. Mechanically the roadster is in excellent condition. The air conditioning works very well, even in our 110 degree F temperatures. It was converted to 134a in 2017.

This 560SL comes complete with both tops, the First Aid kit, tools, all the books and records and a clean CARFAX, except the limited suspension fender damage done in 2017.

For more information, please call, text or email Harry Clark at +1.623.404.9042 or sales@classicpromenade.com. The SL is available for viewing at our Phoenix showroom.

1967 Mercedes 250SL, 24k Miles, Previous Original Owner 47 Years, Euro Car, Survivor, Rust Free, Gorgeous!

This is an increasingly rare find. This fine example is part of the Philip Lutfy, MD Mercedes collection and doesn’t disappoint. His cars are known to be the very best and this is a stunning example.

Dr. Lutfy acquired the car from Phillippe Pas, a well know broker in Europe. He bought it from the original French owner who sold it at after 47 years and 24,000 miles of enjoyment. Having accumulated a mere 24,000 miles with one owner, this is a rust-free and nearly perfect car, ready for serious Preservation Class entry in Concours events, touring or daily classic use. Dr. Lutfy states that this is his best driving of his ten Pagodas.

We love cars like this. This is a preservation class show-stopper. It is nearly all original. The Anthracite Metallic paint with Bamboo MB Tex interior is nothing short of stunning. The colors look very modern but reflect a sophistication and elegance that makes sense in France. There are a few signs of some touch up and clear coat repair over the years, but it is obviously the original paint. The interior looks like new in almost every respect. The MB Tex, carpet, wood and chrome are what you would expect from a perfectly preserved 24,000 mile car.

The black canvas soft top and the matching Anthracite Metallic hardtop are also nearly perfect.

The original spare wheel, tools, etc. Even the spare tire is the original, unused, Firestone Phoenix tire! Dr. Lutfy installed new Phoenix reproduction tires for the four tires, leaving the spare original.

Overall, this 280SL is cosmetically in gorgeous original condition and is as comfortable on the show field as a driving tour. Any maintenance needed was performed on the motorcar by Dr. Lutfy’s preferred Mercedes engineers.

The engine compartment and rest of the car has an excellent minimal amount of patina that is stunning. Look at the photos of the engine compartment. The cadmium plating looks all new, but they are all original and breathtaking.

The car is absolutely as rust free as you will ever find. It is in remarkable condition. The trunk is in perfect original condition as well as the mat in the trunk. This example has the power steering, automatic transmission, bumper overriders, tinted glass and the factory hardtop in Horizon Blue.

The chrome is in excellent condition. This car has obviously been garaged its entire life.

The car will be sold with the file, books, tools, and, if desired, the carrier for the hardtop.

This is an increasingly rare opportunity to find a one previous owner 24,000 mile survivor that is a nearly new 51 year old motorcar. For more details please call, email or text Harry Clark at +1.623.404.9042 or sales@classicpromenade.com. The 280SL is available for viewing in Phoenix, AZ.

SOLD to Hawaii!!

Call Harry Clark at +1.623.404.9042 or email us at sales@classicpromenade.com.

This is a splendid 1966 Mercedes 230SL that was originally delivered to Rome, Italy as a Euro edition. We have the factory production records and receipts from Rome for maintenance and repair (if only we could read Italian!) dating back to at least 1980. The present owner is our consignment client and has enjoyed the ownership of this motorcar for the past 28 years. It is a rust-free and largely original example that has had excellent servicing and has extremely low mileage. This is ready to enjoy as is or could easily be brought up to show standards.

HISTORY OF THIS 230SL
This 230SL was purchased new by Mr. Sil. Pautaloni Filippo on the 2nd of April 1966 at Autostar, S.P.A., the Mercedes dealership in Rome. We have records of the first several services. By 1980, the 230SL was owned by a Mr. Lloyd Douglas who was still having the car serviced at Autostar in Rome. We have numerous invoices for repairs and maintenance dating back about 40 years. By October of 1984, the 230SL was imported into the United States and was owned by Mr. Steve Klebanoff of Bethesda, MD. The car had accumulated 57,005 KM (about 35,000 miles). He had the engine rebuilt by Perfection Automotive in Herndon, Virgina, as soon as he bought the car in October of 1984. It was a comprehensive rebuild that is documented in the paperwork.

On about May 23rd, 1989, Mr. Klebanoff sold the 230SL to its present owner, Mr. Alan Zins. It had by then accumulated 72,800 KM (about 45,000 Miles). On the 11th of April, 1994 the speedometer and tachometer were sent to Palo Alto Speedometer to be rebuilt. At that time, the odometer was reset to zero. It had accumulated 76,981 KM (about 47,700 Miles). This is fully documented. It has since traveled over 11,400 KM (about 7,100 miles) for a total documented 54,800 miles from new.

CONDITION OF THIS 280SL
The Silver Grey Metallic (Paint Code #180) livery was repainted in the 1990’s and still looks very nice today. There are two small chips on the edges of the hood that could benefit from touching up. The paint shows that it has been very well cared for and has a new looking shine and finish. The Black Leather (Code #720) is all original and still very soft and supple and overall in excellent condition with exception of minor superficial cracking on the drivers seat (see photos for details). There are no splits or tears. It also features the very rare Kinderseat in back in matching black leather.

The chrome and stainless have a consistent very good to excellent look, with only very minor pitting or scratching. The rubber is in very nice condition throughout as well as the lights and lenses. The factory hardtop is in consistent shape with the rest of the car, with only minor blemishes. The navy blue canvas convertible top is likely original to the car and could benefit from being replaced.

The steering wheel and interior trim are in excellent condition, with only minor wear on the drivers side carpeting. We have installed a new firewall pad and a new trunk mat. The car is getting detailed and new photos will be coming soon!!

Most everything functions as it should, as this has been well maintained as the near 40 years worth of receipts show. The speedometer works fine but the odometer recently stopped and should be rebuilt. It runs and drives very well and stops with the assurance of the four wheel disc brakes.

This Pagoda is ready to enjoy. This motorcar comes complete with the original owners manuals, books, 38 years of receipts, a hardtop storage rack and car cover. For more details, call Harry Clark at +1.623.404.9042 or email us at sales@classicpromenade.com.

SOLD!! This fine example is part of the Philip Lutfy, MD Mercedes collection and doesn’t disappoint. His cars are known to be the very best and this is a stunning example. Dr. Lutfy acquired this 1969 Mercedes 280SL car from the original owner, who sold it at 82 years of age (we handled the sale). It is a rust-free California car, with complete impeccable documentation since new, having accumulated a total of 75,000 miles.

We love cars like this. The file is at least two inches thick with all receipts since 1969. And they are all in chronological order! All the books and manuals are there, the original sales invoice, spare wheel, tools, etc. Even the spare tire is original!

The rare Dark Green (Color 268) livery is handsome and has been repainted by Dr. Lutfy to the highest concours standards. It features the original green hardtop as well as the original canvas top. The stunning exterior is complemented beautifully by the original Cognac (140) tan MB Textured interior, including the nearly perfect original brown carpeting. Look at the very rare child jump seat in the rear area. This is a very rare option for the SL’s. The original Becker Europa AM/FM stereo is still mounted in the dash.

Overall, this 280SL is cosmetically in concours condition as a stunning original motorcar that has a perfect new repaint in the original color. The engine was removed from the car and was then beautifully professionally detailed. All new engine mounts and any maintenance needed was performed on the motorcar by Dr. Lutfy’s preferred Mercedes engineers.

The car is absolutely as rust free as you will ever find. It is in remarkable condition. The trunk is in perfect original condition as well as the mat in the trunk. This example has the power steering, automatic transmission, bumper overriders, tinted glass and chrome roof bars.

This Pagoda was bought new from Edward K. Cumming & Co. on August 25th 1969 for $8,129. Charles Davis traded in his 1968 250SL for this car.

The car will be sold with the complete file, books, tools, car cover and, if desired, the carrier for the hardtop.

SALE PENDING to Connecticut!! This is a one family owned 1966 Mercedes 230SL with air conditioning, soft and hard tops, and 71,000 documented miles since new. This car has been loved from day one! We have wonderful files of information starting with letters from Mercedes in Germany coordinating the Euro delivery to its shipment back to the US. It is a very nice blend of original and sympathetically restored. The white exterior and red MB Tex interior makes for a stunning combination.

This 230SL was bought new at the Mercedes dealership in Chicago for Roslyn Boykoff by her husband Dr. Max Boykoff. It was to replace her 1965 Buick Electra 225 when one of the windows decided to stop working. They ordered the 230SL to be picked up in Germany, where they enjoyed it for a week before returning it to the factory for shipment back to Chicago.

Roslyn enjoyed the 230SL as her daily driver for about twelve years and the car had accumulated about 67,970 miles. She worked in her husbands general medical practice at Rogers Park, Illinois. The 230SL was replaced with a new 1978 450SL. The 230SL was then given to her son, Stuart Boykoff, on February 13, 1978, who moved to Scottsdale, Arizona. Stuart enjoyed the car for for the next 40 years and about 4,000 more miles until we purchased it!! The car had never been in an accident and it was well maintained.

In April of 1990, Stuart had changed the original color from Arabian Gray to Arctic White with a high quality paint by Auto Galleria in Scottsdale. The livery still retains excellent brilliance and looks factory authentic with the exception of the engine compartment which was painted black rather than body color (white). We have to agree, the white exterior looks fantastic! All the chrome is in excellent condition, with no pitting for scratches. The spot welds are all present in the engine compartment as well as the dashes near the headlight bezels.

The red MB Tex interior is all original and we bought new coco mats for the floors. And it looks great! The wood had been redone as well. It comes with the Becker Europa AM-FM radio and the original seat belts. The black soft top and the white hard top are both in excellent condition. The chrome in the interior is as new and really sets off the wood, white paint and red vinyl. The steering wheel has some minor cracking that you can see in the photos.

The trunk looks factory fresh with the correct mats, tools, jack, books and owners manuals and spare wheel. We have photos of the car in Illinois in the original Arabian Gray and many documents going back through the last 50 plus years. The floorpans are in very nice condition and just in front of the rear wheel wells under the car are two small patches from a prior rust repair. These were repaired by the craftsmen at Auto Galleria in 1990 when the paint was redone. There are no outstanding rust issues and the car has never been in an accident.

The 230SL drive very well and has excellent power. The transmission shifts perfectly and all the instruments work as they should. The stereo and antenna operate well but the clock is not working. We had the car fully serviced and the valves adjusted at MB Services in Phoenix. The car is ready to drive and enjoy!

SOLD to Carmel, California!!! This is an immaculate 1988 Mercedes 560SL Roadster that is a documented two prior owner west coast car from new and looks and behaves nearly new in all respects. The Black livery is unbelievably glossy and looks just as it did when it left the factory.

It was bought new from Sutherland Motors in Spokane, Washington by Edwin Asimakoupoulos on Thanksgiving Day 1987. Edwin took incredible care of the car for 20 years until in 2007 it had its second owner, Robert Sturtevant. Robert kept care of the car for the next decade when it was sold to one of my best friends, Larry Miller in Murrieta, CA. Larry had the car transported from Washington state and has enjoyed it for the past two years. He regularly serviced, detailed and maintained the car, as needed.

And it looks as new! The black paint and black interior is all original and nearly perfect. The engine compartment truly looks almost factory new! Who would ever guess that this is a 30 year old motorcar!

The CARFAX for this car has 33 entries starting in 1992 and confirm the low mileage and ownership.

This beautiful Polar White on Saffron Leather Mercedes Benz SL500 Cabrio (R129) is an original milage, accident free Arizona car. The original owner purchased it in Bellevue, Washington as vacation vehicle for their winter house in Phoenix. Under original ownership, this SL500 spent most of its life garaged in the Phoenix / Scottsdale area.

The second and current owner, Kris Cook (1 Star General US Air Force), purchased the vehicle as a vacation vehicle for her home in Utah. Despite the location, Ms. Cook has always kept this SL in her garage, and it has only ever been driven in the summer. There are absolutely no signs of rust or corrosion.

This SL500 also has a complete paper trail of service records. All scheduled service and repairs were performed on time by Mercedes Benz of Scottsdale or Mercedes Benz of Chandler. Plus, earlier this year, this vehicle went through a comprehensive, bumper-to-bumper 30k mile inspection, also performed at Mercedes Benz. Furthermore, this car comes with new (this year) Michelin Tires.

All equipment and accessories are original and function properly, including the convertible top. This car truly is an excellent example of an original, well preserved R129 SL-Klasse. Hagerty currently values this vehicle between $23,800 – $44,000, and values are projected to increase in the near future. Now is the time to get in on a soon-to-be modern classic.

The photos speak for themselves, this SL500 is a gorgeous mid-90’s time capsule. Enjoy!

This vehicle can be inspected at our Phoenix location. To schedule an appointment or for more information, please call, email or text Harry Clark at +1.623.404.9042 or sales@classicpromenade.com

We are proud to offer this gorgeous 2003 Mercedes Benz SL55 AMG. With a clean CARFAX and near perfect condition inside and out, this is about as close to buying one of Mercedes most famous nameplates new as you can get.

This SL represents the fifth generation (R230) of Mercedes two seater luxury sports car, which actually traces its lineage all the back to the original 1954 300 SL (aka. The Gullwing). Did you know? The letters SL are an abbreviation for “Sport Leicht,” which translates from German to “Sport Light.” Note, the word light is referring to the relative curb weight of the vehicle, and not to be interpreted as “light on sport.” This is not the diet coke of sports cars after all! So, you can add that bit of trivia knowledge to your repertoire of Cars and Coffee small talk.

Getting back to this particular SL55 AMG, at the time of its launch, there were no tires available which could tolerate the speeds this vehicle was capable of; consumer passenger tires would rip themselves apart from the centrifugal force. In fact, the March 2002 issue of Car and Driver noted that this car is capable of doing 208mph and out performed their Porsche 911. For a really interesting read, check out the online reprint of that article.

The particular SL55 we have for sale has been owned by a fellow car enthusiast and friend of Classic Promenade’s. With such low millage and outstanding condition, it goes without saying that this vehicle has hardly been driven and garage kept. Mechanically everything works as it should. In typical Mercedes fashion, this car pulls hard and shifts smooth.

The paint and exterior condition of this vehicle are excellent. We did not notice any blemishes upon our initial inspection.

Moving to the interior, we are amazed at how well it has aged. The soft and supple red leather interior is classic with the silver exterior. The red leather is contrasted with black accents throughout, giving the overall design a look that remains relevant today. Most everything on the interior is in outstanding condition as well. We did note that the drivers seat bottom has an approximately 1/4 inch tear in the leather and the glovebox was not working properly, thought that could be user error on our end!

Back in 2003, this car would have retailed for $115,000 ($161,000 today). This SL55 is in such outstanding condition that it’s current asking price represents an amazing deal for any interested buyer.

See inspection report, full photos, videos and more at classicpromenade.com. More details coming soon.

This is a beautifully restored US delivery 1971 Mercedes-Benz 280SL with some of the most desired color combinations and options. This Mercedes has been well cared for in every respect, being one of the most iconic models ever produced.

The three-year nut and bolt restoration was performed by European Foreign Classics, LTD, and was done with impeccable detail and accuracy. This comprehensive restoration including rebuilding the engine, transmission, drivetrain, suspension, and rear end. This 280 was restored for the personal use of European Foreign Classics owner and resulting in what could be considered one of the finer Pagodas on the market.

The restoration took place over a 3-4 year process, in which the owner documented the entirety of the process on a single invoice. However, given that this car was done for himself, he did not create individual invoices for the work done. Nonetheless, we are provided with restoration photos that show the extent of what is considered a complete nut and bolt restoration. The 280SL has travelled less than 500 miles since the restoration.

The condition and attention to detail associated with this example makes this an investment-grade collector car. Though the headlight notches and front fender spotwelds – important details on these SL’s – have been painted over and smoothed out. Nonetheless, this is a complete, numbers matching motorcar and one of only 830 produced, as 1971 was the final production year for this second generation (w113) roadster.

The livery is sporty and elegant in its original Signal Red (Paint Code 568) complemented by chrome that is beautiful condition. This 280SL has had a complete bare metal repaint, disassembling the car as needed. Likewise, the undercarriage was also painstakingly repainted during the restoration. The OEM European Headlights complete the look.

The Cognac Leather (Code 120) and Brown Carpet (6454) are all new and look, feel and smell as-new. Complimenting the leather are the beautifully refinished wood trim pieces. This 280SL also features a new but original equipment radio. We love the look of the beautiful chrome, Cognac leather and the red interior trim. The black convertible top looks as-new and the headliner is also in excellent condition. The same condition is true of the hard top as well, it is also fully restored.

The inspection confirms that the car has never had rust and that all instruments and accessories function as they should. This comes complete with a very nice original tool kit, the factory data card and the owners manuals.

This roadster is available for inspection in NYC, New York. For more details and information, please call, email or text Harry Clark at +1.623.404.9042 or sales@classicpromenade.com

This was bought new in Southern California by the father of the present owner. For the past 22 years it has been in one family here in Southern California. It has been used regularly and has accumulated 170,000 miles.

We love the very rare color combination: Strawberry livery with Parchment leather interior. It is the original paint and the car has never been in an accident and has been relatively well maintained.

The overall condition of the SL is good, with some scratches and only a couple small dents. The interior is in good condition also with no tears or major blemishes.

From the owner: “Here is what I know about the car: I have all maintenance paperwork from when my Father bought it up through the present. I have the hardtop on and there is a refurbished soft top. There is some sun damage to the leather / plastic around the rear view mirror. The AC works okay. Many times the air will stop coming out of the center vents after several minutes of driving and comes out the sides only, but it is still cold air. The dome light comes on only when the passenger door is opened and not when the driver door is opened. The windshield fluid reservoir is cracked and leaks and needs to be replaced. It has AMG Wheels and high performance tires. It has about 170,000 miles and runs strong.”

The soft top is in good condition and is black in color. The hard top comes with the car as well as the wind screen.

This is an opportunity to own a 500SL in a rare color for a very reasonable price. Being a one owner CA car you can know that it has been cared for and is free of rust.
