PRICE REDUCED $15,000!! This is a 1959 Austin-Healey 3000 Mk I BT7 Four Seat Roadster that has an unusually high-quality restoration performed by one of the most renowned Austin-Healey restorers in North America, Kurt Tanner. This Austin-Healey is in concours condition and has benefitted from the numerous improvements that have been developed by Kurt Tanner Motorcars. The color combination is perfect (Golden Beige Metallic and Red Leather), and this Healey needs nothing today to be enjoyed, whether for rallies, tours or concours events. Included in the sale is a fantastic collection of Austin-Healey spares, luggage, books, etc. that would take years to accumulate and must be worth upwards of $10,000.

This Healey was built on the 15th of September of 1959 and was dispatched to A M Capurro and Sons LTD in Gibraltar on the 22nd of September 1959. By January of 2005, this Austin-Healey was acquired by Kurt Tanner in Claremont, California. Kurt Tanner is the owner of Kurt Tanner Motors in Santa Ana, CA. Kurt has dedicated most of his life to the perfecting and restoration of Austin-Healeys. He is known as “The Healey Guy”. His Healeys often set sales records at public auction. After its restoration, the Healey was bought by Mr. Hugh Tangye from Vancouver, BC in June of 2007. The Healey had accumulated 89,199 miles from new and nearly zero miles since the restoration. Mr. Tangye continued to optimize the tuning of the Healey to make it perform as it does today- fantastic! By 2017, the Healey was acquired by our consignment client Kim Spencer from Vancouver, BC. Mr. Spencer is meticulous in his maintenance and servicing of his collection. He is the type of person to buy a car from (or motorcycle for that matter). He has used the Healey on a regular basis and the car is absolutely sorted. Between Hugh and Kim, about 6,000 miles have been added to the car since its restoration, ensuring its reliability.

The Kurt Tanner restoration was very thorough and the attention to detail is spectacular. This car was completely disassembled down to a bare rolling chassis with only the front and rear shrouds still attached. The chassis was then power washed with a 3500psi steam cleaner. All exterior body panels were carefully hand-stripped to bare metal using aircraft stripper, then “dusted” with shotblasting to remove any corrosion. At that point, any sheet metal repairs were made. The chassis was then seam-sealed, primed, and painted Golden Beige Metallic along with the backs of all the body panels. The body parts were then refitted to the car and carefully gapped. Bodywork and Golden Beige Metallic paint were then carried out to concours standards, with exceptional results. The car displays factory-correct panel fit and shut lines.

The interior is stunning in gorgeous red leather. The red carpeting and the red leather wrapping the dashboard and door panels looks just right. The combination of the red interior and champagne exterior looks better than we remember seeing it before. The execution of this restoration truly sets it apart. The original aluminum cockpit moldings were stripped, polished, and correctly re-anodized. The car boasts a new Moss Motors interior trim kit, carpet and underlay kit, Armacord trunk kit, door seals, red leather trimmed seats with new foam, Moto-Lita steering wheel, fitted lap belts, and windshield. A new and correct black Everflex top and matching black canvas tonneau has been fitted, along with the original set of restored side curtains in a new black bag. The steering wheel and shift knob are both wood rimmed with aluminum made by none other than Moto-Lita. Fitted in the passenger compartment is a polished fire extinguisher and a power outlet for phones, etc. The original steering wheel and shift knob are included in the sale.

Mechanically, the car could not be in better condition. Everything was rebuilt as needed and today the Healey performs brilliantly. Every aspect of the car looks as-new. Look at the 140 photos and three videos on our website to admire the detail. The Healey was treated to a brand-new set of correct chrome wire wheels with a painted spare in the trunk. The venerable 2,912 cc overhead valve straight six-cylinder engine performs brilliantly producing 124 hp. We love the polished alloy valve cover with the Austin-Healey script (the original valve cover is included in the sale). It is the original numbers matching engine that has been thoroughly rebuilt since its restoration. The documentation is available for viewing. The four-speed transmission is enhanced by its electronic overdrive, an original option from the factory. The braking is from front discs.

Other restoration details include a new cotton cloth wiring harness, restored dashboard fittings, new air vent heater hoses, a stainless-steel exhaust system that is partially wrapped for heat protection as it is routed near the driver’s door for an especially sporty look and sound. This car includes a matching 5th tire and spare rim, correct Everflex top and tonneau cover, restored original side screen set with bag, reprint of the owner’s handbook, new knock off hammer, and a BMIHT certificate attesting to the car’s authenticity.

Included in the sale are the side curtains, tonneau cover and the huge collection of extra parts, spares, Austin-Healey branded leather luggage and so much more!!

We have this priced to sell. The Hagerty Value for a No. 1 example is $99,900 and NADA has it at $141,800. Kurt Tanner restored Healeys have sold for about $150,000 at public auction!

PRICE REDUCED!! This is a 1960 Austin-Healey 3000 Mk I BT7 Open 2+2 that has such an unusually high-quality restoration that Sports Car Market described it as “Better than new without going over the top”. This Healey has a wonderful California provenance with three previous owners from new and, of course, has matching numbers. Some of the top British car restorers were involved in its restoration and it needs nothing today to be enjoyed, whether for rallies, tours or concours events.

Sports Car Market reviewed this car after the January 2012 Gooding & Co. auction where the present owner acquired her. Their comments continued: “There are some cars at auction that are so well restored that discussions of the condition become pointless. This Austin-Healey is certainly one of them. Its paint, interior, chrome and engine compartment are impeccable.”

This Healey was built from the 11th through the 15th of January of 1960 and was dispatched to Portland, OR on the 4th of February 1960. It was purchased new in Northern California by a gentleman who enjoyed her for six years. In March of 1966, she was acquired by her second owner who was a young engineer working on the American space program. He drove her regularly until about 1971, having accumulated about 44,000 miles. By 1971, his growing family necessitated different automotive needs, so he stored her in a garage for another 39 years! Her next owner, David Pennington from Northern California, acquired her in 2005 and set out on a comprehensive restoration that was completed in 2011. Her present owner for the past 10 years acquired her at the Gooding & Co auction and has enjoyed her on two Copperstate 1000 rallies. He has maintained her to the highest standards, including a full engine rebuild.

The restoration was very thorough and the attention to detail is spectacular. The paint and body were done by Igor Boun of Citrus Heights, CA and the results are spectacular. The Black with Red cove is classic and is complemented with chrome wire wheels. The exterior is nearly perfect in every regard.

The interior is stunning in her red leather contrasted with black piping. The red carpeting and the red leather wrapping the dashboard and door panels looks just right. The combination of the red and black looks better than we remember seeing it before. The execution of this restoration truly sets it apart.

The venerable 2,912 cc overhead valve straight six-cylinder engine performs brilliantly producing 124 hp. It is the original numbers matching engine that has been thoroughly rebuilt since its restoration. The documentation is available for viewing. The four-speed transmission is enhanced by its electronic overdrive, an original option from the factory. The braking is from front discs.

Included in the sale are the side curtains, tonneau cover and car cover.

We have this priced to sell. The Hagerty Value for a No. 1 example is $96,900 and NADA has it at $141,800.

This is a fully restored 1955 Austin-Healey 100S Tribute that has been beautifully restored by marque specialists. The restoration was performed by the engineers at Fourintune in Cedarburg, WI with the complete 100S engine components being supplied by the specialists at Dennis Welch in the UK. The investment in the restoration and build is $200,000 and it is in fantastic condition today. The Healey is ready for the most demanding tours and rallies as well as concours events. The market value for one of the 50 original alloy bodied 100S Healey’s is $1 million, making this an attractive rally and touring option.

This Healey was acquired for restoration by Tom Kovacs at Fourintune about eight years ago. According to Tom, the Healey was found in the Pennysaver magazine offered for sale by Michael Hagerty. Tom kept the Healey as a base for a full-restoration. In about 2016, the present owner and Tom set out on this faithful Tribute to the legendary Austin-Healey 100S. The restoration was completed by December 2019 for the current owner, Gary Lumsden of Paradise Valley, AZ. Mr. Lumsden has added about 3,500 miles since then. Having driven this 100S Tribute ourselves, it is fast and a blast to drive!

The livery is in the period correct Old English White. The upgraded gray painted 60-spoke wire wheels look great. The Lucas driving lights and deletion of the bumpers add to its visual appeal as well as making it look much like the 100S’s.

The interior features custom made 100S reproduction seats that are finished in a beautiful green leather hides personally selected. The leather is as-new. The dash and instrumentation is all restored and functioning great. The 100S comes with two tonneau covers and carpet overlays. The convertible top has not been installed and only the unrestored top bows are included.

The engine compartment is where all the magic lies. The 132 bhp, 2,660 cc pushrod inline four-cylinder engine transfers powers through its four-speed manual transmission. The front independent coil springs, rear semi-elliptic leaf springs, and four-wheel Dunlop hydraulic disc brakes make for wonderful handling. The 100S engine build cost just under $40,000 with all the internal parts supplied by Dennis Welch. The invoice for the engine is included in our listing. In total, Mr. Lumsden invested $200,000 into this 100S Tribute. We encourage you to watch the test drive video to get a feel for the driving experience.

For more information and details, please call, text or email Harry Clark at +1.623.404.9042 or email us at sales@classicpromenade.com. The 100S Tribute is available for viewing and inspection in Paradise Valley, AZ.

ONLINE ONLY AUCTION at www.classicpromenade.com.

Free To Bid. Inspection reports available. See full photos, videos and more. Auction Dates: Oct 5-17, 2020

This is a stunning concours quality 1960 Austin-Healy “Bugeye” Sprite Mk I that has benefitted from a no expense spared restoration. With a total investment in excess of $100,000, this Frogeye Sprite is spectacular. All of the racing livery is easily removed and the Sprite has less than 50 miles added since its restoration.

The restoration started with a solid, nice example that was from Eastern Colorado. The Sprite was largely rust free with only some minor rust on the driver side floor area.

The restoration was completed recently by Doctor Jag Technologies in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The restorers are used to restoring E-Types and other high-end British motorcars. The same no expense spared methodology was used for this Sprite.

The parts alone cost in excess of $15,000, documented with numerous pages of single-spaced lines of accounting detail. The stack of receipts is literally two inches thick. The labor value was beyond reason with about 1,800 hours invested. This is part of a 70-car collection, including 26 Jaguars.

This Sprite has been beautifully finished in Sky Blue and has the correct original steel wheels with the hubcaps, giving it a spectacular look. The paint, chrome and all the finish work are all in excellent condition. This is ready to be competitive at concours events. We are sure that Sprites were never made this nice from the factory. The new black vinyl convertible top has yet to see sunlight! Forgive the green spots in the photo gallery. These are simply the reflection of the green tool box sitting in front of the Sprite! This Sprite is as close to perfect as you’ll find (the videos do a thorough job of covering it, as well).

The gorgeous dark blue leather interior and carpeting is all new and without fault. The quality of the materials are the same as for the $300,000 Jaguar restorations. Everything in the interior is as-new. The dash, instruments and door panels are also either new or restored. Everything works as it should.

All the drivetrain and suspension were completely rebuilt. The engine pulls strong and operates perfectly. We noted no modifications, the restoration was performed to bring it back to its original glory.

An independent inspection was conducted and the report is available for your review. It confirms the pristine condition of this roadster, as you would expect with a fresh restoration. If you are interested in acquiring the Sprite that is essentially as-new or better than new, this may be your motorcar.

For more information and details, please call, text or email Harry Clark at +1.623.404.9042 or sales@classicpromenade.com. The Sprite may be viewed in New Mexico.

1959 Austin-Healey “Bugeye” or “Frogeye” Sprite- Full Body-Off Restoration

[svgallery name=”1959_Bugeye”]

For 26 years this Sprite has been owned in Arizona and underwent a full body-off restoration. This Sprite is an eye catcher with its rare wire wheels, beautiful red paint and tan interior, top, side curtains and tonneau cover,. With only 280 miles covered since restoration, this motorcar is ready to be shown at car shows and concours events as well as toured through the countryside. While not a trailer-queen, this car would do well at local car shows and is presented well enough for concours events. Since the restoration was performed many years ago it will not be a top contender at concours events.

This is a no expense spared fully restored Arizona Sprite. The car was bought new in Arizona in March of 1959. In as a very nice accident and rust free original example in about 1984 in Texas and immediately moved to the dry climate of Arizona with its new owner. (See photos of the car in the early 1980’s prior to restoration)

From 1985 to 2010 it was in the loving and caring hands of one owner who paid for its restoration. Upon acquisition he commenced an extensive restoration which included every nut and bolt being removed and replaced.

The car sat after its restoration (with no miles driven) and in 2001 he paid the experts at British Motor Classics in Phoenix to fully re-commission the motorcar by going through the engine, transmission, radiator and brakes. In 2010 we have again re-commissioned the motorcar and it is now ready for a new owner to love and enjoy on tours and car shows. It’s Pirelli radial tires and rare wire wheels are ready for touring at highway speeds and a steady 35-45 miles per gallon.

Please review the photos of the restoration where the body was removed and “dipped” in stripping solvent to remove all traces of paint, etc. Examination of the body panels show that this car had never been in an accident nor, of course, had it ever seen rust of any kind.

Since restoration the Sprite has covered less than 280 miles. The photo shows that the mildly tuned Austin A-Series engine and transmission were also fully rebuilt, with less than 10 miles on the gearbox!! We have receipts for most all of the parts and restoration work, including all trim pieces, new wiring harness, brake and transmission rebuild, etc. The receipts cover from 1984 to 2010.

This is a fabulous opportunity to own a fully restored and sorted Bugeye Sprite for a reasonable value. Whether you are wanting a car to show or for weekend touring, this is a car with excellent provenance and history. Please review the value guide as follows: Value Guide
