PRICE REDUCED! This 1960 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud II is a beautiful US delivery LHD example with factory air conditioning and is in overall great condition! The 1960 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud II chassis LSRA217 represents a refined example of the model that introduced V8 power to the celebrated Silver Cloud line. Showing 97,645 miles, the Rolls-Royce presents in great condition and remains ideally suited for touring, club events, and traditional Rolls-Royce motoring.

Chassis LSRA217 was delivered to the United States in June 1960 to Charles Edwin Davis of San Marino, California, originally finished in Velvet Green with Beige interiors. One of just 2,417 Series II examples produced, the Rolls-Royce combines the marque’s legendary craftsmanship with the improved performance of the 6.2-liter V8 and GM Hydra-Matic automatic transmission. The Rolls-Royce passed to Colleen Horner of Newport Beach, California in 1973 and later to Leo Goodkind of Waterloo, Nebraska in 1978. The current owner acquired the Silver Cloud II in 2001. The Rolls-Royce has been maintained as a respected touring example and participated in the 2001 AACA Eastern Fall Meet in Hershey, PA. Accompanying documentation includes original build sheets, the chassis card, and ownership history.

The Rolls-Royce is currently in velvet green over silver two tone with tan pinstriping that presents in great condition and shows good depth and luster. The prominent chrome grille, bumpers, Great Britain badge, and Spirit of Ecstasy remain bright and in very good condition. The cosmetic imperfections found are a slight dent on the rear driver-side swan neck overrider and dent on the roofline just above the windshield. The steel wheels finished in Velvet Green with Rolls-Royce logos present in good condition consistent with normal use and are mounted with wide whitewall tires in good condition but will need to be replaced due to age (2004). We are a dealer through Coker tire that the next owner can choose to use to purchase tires of their preference before delivery.

The Rolls-Royce interior is trimmed in original beige leather paired with beige wool carpeting that presents in good overall condition. The interior wood and carpeting were restored in 2001. There is wear consistent with age and use with one tear and some cracking in the driver’s side seat. This left-hand-drive U.S. example retains its original charm with burled walnut door cappings and dash panels that remain in great condition. Smiths instrumentation, factory amenities include air conditioning, power windows, and an AM/FM radio, while rear picnic tables finished in matching burl walnut continue to present in great condition and enhance the Silver Cloud’s traditional passenger comfort.

The Rolls-Royce is powered by the 6.2-liter V8 engine (engine number 271AS) paired with a four-speed GM Hydra-Matic automatic transmission, offering improved torque and smoother power delivery compared with earlier Silver Cloud models. The chassis incorporates power steering, front independent suspension with coil springs, and a rear live axle with semi-elliptical leaf springs, with four-wheel servo-assisted drum brakes deliver controlled stopping performance. The water pump, alternator and belts were replaced in 2017 and a complete brake service was completed in 2017. In 2013, the wiper motor was rebuilt and electric accessories were serviced which included wiring fixes for power windows, turn signals, foglights, door latches, bake lights and bulb replacements. The AC compressor was rebuilt in 2002. Chassis LSRA217 includes some service records, the original build sheets, chassis card, a spare tire and jack.

Now LIVE on BaT! This 1960 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud II Long Wheelbase Saloon with Division is a left-hand drive US delivered example that was very well optioned with air conditioning and electric windows. Chassis LLCA18 has benefitted from an older repaint, beautiful and correct new leather interior and a major mechanical servicing. This example would be welcomed in most regional concours events, RROC tours and events where presence and refinement matter more than pace.

Chassis LLCA18 was ordered new through Rolls-Royce’s American distribution network by Howard Johnson’s Inc., the legendary hotel and restaurant chain, with delivery to it’s Rockefeller Center headquarters in December 1960 as a 1961 model year car. One of only 258 Silver Cloud II long-wheelbase saloons built over its three-year model run, this Rolls-Royce was specified left-hand drive for the U.S. market and originally finished in Mason’s Black over grey leather. Ownership history traces the Silver Cloud II through prominent corporate and private custodians throughout the United States including Forbes, Inc., with mileage now showing 26,316. The present owner acquired this Rolls-Royce in 2022 and performed a major mechanical service including a complete tune-up, rebuilding the braking systems and servo, radiator service, new hoses, new water pump, new Coker white wall radial tires and air conditioning service.

The exterior of the Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud II is finished in Cream over Caramel two tone and presents with a nice shine and gloss as well as consistent panel fit. Twin Tan pinstripes complement the livery and accentuate the gorgeous lines of the Rolls. The chrome and stainless-steel trim present well overall, including the Spirit of Ecstasy mascot, with expected fine scratches in high-contact areas. Newly painted wheels wear five new correct width whitewall radial tires and the proper painted wheelcovers, adding period-correct visual balance and reinforcing the car’s stately road presence.

The interior of LLCA18 reflects the ultimate in British luxury with its fine tan wool, tan leather and gorgeous burl walnut finishes. The interior features a beautiful newer tan leather throughout with matching light brown Wilton wool carpeting showing little to no wear. Hand-finished burled walnut trim spans the dashboard, window surrounds, and rear compartment cabinetry, displaying a beautiful mild gloss finish. The electric glass division window works well, and the original factory rear “boot” air conditioning system has been fully serviced and blows cold. The etched glass lighting, folding picnic tables, mirrored vanities and folding armrest complete the sense of luxury for the rear passengers.

The engine compartment has been detailed and presents well. The venerable Silver Cloud II’s 6,223cc OHV aluminum V8, paired with twin SU carburetors and a four-speed automatic transmission is both powerful and reliable. Since 2022, chassis LLCA18 has been fully mechanically sorted and recommissioned, transforming the Rolls-Royce from into a dependable driver suitable for shows and light touring. Included with the sale are copies of build records, service records, a clean Arizona title, select tools, and the wheel-mounted spare stored in the trunk.

Off to New Hampshire!! This is a beautiful 1962 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud II saloon that has 81,000 miles, wonderful front and rear air conditioning and has just completed a $28,000 bare metal repaint. Having five previous owners from new, with its last owner of 24 years, this Rolls has been in the RROC since it was new in 1962. This is an example that has always been loved and well maintained and drives as nice as it looks. This is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy a Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud that can be shown or toured in.

Ordered new through JS Inskip of New York for H. Max Ammerman, Esq, the renowned lawyer and Washington DC real estate developer, this Rolls was delivered new on July 5th, 1962 for special London delivery before being shipped to Washington DC from Liverpool on December 7, 1962. Mr. Ammerman was just 55 years old when he acquired the Rolls and he promptly joined the RROC. Read more details about Max from The Washington Post: H Max Ammerman

By 1968, the Rolls was acquired by Lt. Col. Thomas E Hauss in San Francisco, CA and by June of 1973 it had been acquired by Ted L Walters from Seminole, FL. In 1989, Paul T Dermond from Seminole, FL acquired the Rolls and in 1999 it was acquired by Coleman Henry from St. Petersburg, FL. Mr. Coleman enjoyed the Rolls primarily to drive to the golf club and to dinner for the next 24 years.

Classic Promenade commenced a full bare metal repaint using Vintage Auto in Temecula, CA, a restoration shop that we have been using for two decades. The $28,000 investment included all new seals and gaskets and further restoration, as necessary. We have 215 photos of the repaint and restoration work in addition to the 151 photos and three videos for the sale of the car on our website.

The livery is stunning in its newly painted two-toned Shell Gray over Dark Blue with Light Blue pinstriping. The paint is gorgeous and was done correctly as per the factory scheme for two toned Silver Clouds. The chrome and stainless-steel trim are beautiful and there are only minimal small dings in the bumper overriders. The wide white walled Coker American Classic radials allow for a comfortable and safe ride. Overall, the exterior is in excellent condition.

The interior appears to be remarkably original and restored only as needed. Most of the leather appears to be original in its Blue Leather (VM 3244), which appears as a Gray-Blue leather. The leather is soft and supple and without tears. There is normal creasing from use, but the leather is in overall excellent original condition. The burl walnut wood is also very nice throughout. The picnic tray in front and the two rear seat picnic tables are in very nice condition. The carpet is a matching Gray Wilton wool with overlays in matching carpeting. The interior features the dual front and rear air conditioning, electric windows, a modern stereo and all of the instruments work well. The clock is not functioning.

The engine compartment has been recently detailed and looks very nice. The venerable 6.23-liter V8 proved to be the longest produced V8 in automobile history. It has proven to be very robust, powerful and smooth. The Rolls has been fully serviced including tune up, hoses and fluid changes, air conditioning recharge and service. The Rolls starts easily warm or cold and is comfortable to drive even with the air conditioning on and in our 100 degrees plus F temperatures. Even in 100-degree temperatures, the oil pressure and operating temperatures were strong, which one would expect from a well maintained 81,000-mile Silver Cloud. The front and rear mounted air conditioning has been converted to 134a refrigerant and work very well.

This Rolls comes complete with its original Owner’s handbook, most all of the small and large tools, jack and spare tire.

For more details and information, please text, call or email Harry Clark at +1.623.404.9042 or sales@classicpromenade.com. The Rolls is in our Phoenix showroom. We are pleased to offer FaceTime or WhatsApp live video inspections and we help coordinate shipping worldwide. We also have financing partners if you are interested in financing.

PRICED FOR QUICK SALE; REDUCED BY $10,000!! This is a beautiful 1961 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud II standard saloon that has accumulated 61,800 miles from new and benefitted from an older restoration. This factory LHD Rolls was ordered new with all the right options, including air conditioning. Mechanically, this very low mileage Rolls is very strong, and the color combination is as elegant as it is stunning. It does have some rust in the common areas, which makes this Silver Cloud more affordable while delivering the same amount of enjoyment.

LSPA208 was ordered from the factory by Rolls-Royce of Canada on August 25th, 1959, as a special order for Mr. George H Cloakey, Jr. of Calgary, Canada. Mr. Cloakey was the President of Britalta Oils and Chairman of the Calgary General Hospital. This Rolls was ordered with a very long list of optional items including power steering, factory air conditioning, tinted Sundym glass, white wall tires, power windows, a special horn and a larger brake pedal. It was ordered in Shell Gray (Paint Code M901-2582) with a single Deep Red pinstripe and Red Leather (Trim Code VM3086) with maroon carpeting (Trim Code 105).

By 1985, the Rolls had been acquired by PT Erling-Tyrell of Tacoma, WA. The paint had by then received its present color scheme of Shell Gray over Claret metallic. By 1989, Mr. Charles McKay of Tacoma, WA had acquired the Rolls and enjoyed it until at least 1992. By then, its beautiful restoration had been completed and the total mileage was recorded as 58,000 from new.

The livery is spectacular in its Shell Gray over Claret Metallic and is complimented by beautifully finished chrome and stainless steel. The paint has gorgeous shine and luster with very few touched up areas in high use areas. There is some bubbling in the rear fender dog legs and behind the rear wheels. These are only noticeable upon very close inspection. The wheel covers are beautifully polished and have the Claret trim ring and have a set of five new wide white walled tires. The chrome is in overall very nice condition with no pitting or rust, but the bumper overriders have small dings. Overall, this Silver Cloud makes a very impressive statement and is simply stunning in person.

The interior is in beautiful condition with all the correct materials having been used in its restoration. The Red Leather is soft and supple and in very nice condition. The Maroon carpeting is also in very nice condition and the Maroon mouton sheepskin overlays are as new and are in the front and rear passenger areas. The wood was beautifully refinished and in very nice condition today. The gorgeous burl walnut is in excellent condition with terrific gloss. Most of the wood appears freshly refinished. The rear passenger compartment has the picnic tables and side vanities one expects from a Silver Cloud. All of the gauges work well with the exception of the clock. The radio has been upgraded to a later Blaupunkt AM/FM Cassette unit. Overall, the interior is in fantastic condition.

The engine compartment has been recently detailed and looks very nice. The venerable 6.23-liter V8 proved to be the longest produced V8 in automobile history. It has proven to be very robust, powerful and smooth. The Rolls has been fully serviced including tune up, hoses and fluid changes, replacement of the brake hoses, wheel cylinders and fluid, air conditioning recharge and service and a new set of wide white walled tires. The Rolls starts easily warm or cold and is comfortable to drive even with the air conditioning on and in our 100 degrees plus F temperatures. Even in 100-degree temperatures, the oil pressure and operating temperatures were excellent, which one would expect from a well maintained 61,000-mile Silver Cloud. The original factory rear mounted air conditioning has been converted to 134a refrigerant and worked very well.

LSPA208 comes complete with several of the large tools, the spare with a new tire and a new battery. The Rolls comes complete with the factory build sheets, historical documents, an Owners Handbook and a full sales brochure for the Silver Cloud II.

We have this Silver Cloud II priced well and fairly, making appropriate adjustments for its condition and air conditioning. The Hagerty No. 2 Value is $72,270 and the No. 3 Value is $53,900. See the Hagerty Guide here: 1962 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud II Standard Steel | Hagerty Valuation Tools

This is a beautiful award winning 1962 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud II saloon that has benefitted from a restoration from the Rusnak Rolls-Royce dealership in Pasadena, California. It is in absolutely gorgeous condition today and would be perfect for touring or for exhibiting at regional concours events. This air conditioned and rust free RHD example has lived in very dry environments of Saudi Arabia, South Africa, California and Arizona. For the past 46 years the present family has cherished this Rolls! And we love this stunning color combination!

Early in its life it was owned by the famous South African physician Dr. Christiaan Barnard, who performed the first heart transplant. The Rolls was then acquired by Fredrick Nel from Johannesburg, South Africa on August 24, 1977. By June 5, 1982, Mr. Nel exported the Rolls to his home in Malibu, California where it would remain until being given to his son, Greg Nel of Scottsdale, AZ on November 14, 2007. Greg Nel was the founder and owner of the leading Rolls-Royce and Bentley independent service facility in Arizona, British Automotive. Under Greg Nel’s ownership, the Rolls-Royce has been shown at concours events, earning various class awards. The Nel’s have been caretaker for this Rolls for the past 46 years.

The livery has been refinished in a Silver over Dark Blue two tone complemented by tan coach stripes. The spectacular condition of the paint belies its 25 years since being refinished. The shine and luster are outstanding, and the paint has been beautifully polished. There are no noticeable scratches or dents and only a few chips in the high use door jams and such. This was a bare metal respray by Distinctive Coachwork (later called Autocraft) in Burbank, CA. The stainless steel and chrome are also excellent having been restored at the same time. The wide white walled bias ply tires look exactly per original. The areal is the European style mounted on top of the roof above the windshield. The bumpers and bumper overriders are as new and look stunning. Interesting, the front parking light lenses are clear rather than white, which, we are told, was a requirement for Saudi Arabia.

The interior was also fully restored in 1997 by the Rusnak Rolls-Royce dealership and is finished in Beige Leather with Beige Wilton wool carpeting. The leather is very soft and supple and in excellent overall condition. Included in the sale are as new custom-made beige mouton sheepskin seat covers for the two front seats from South America. We love the matching Beige sueded leather door panels that accent the interior. They are a stunning detail that we have not seen before. There is slight compression of the seat cushion filler, otherwise the interior looks freshly restored. The Beige carpeting shows little wear and only slight soiling, which we will tend to in our detailing. The wood had been completely refinished by Madera Concepts in Santa Barbara, California. They were the Rolls-Royce authorized purveyor for wood refinishing. The wood is beautiful throughout with only a few small areas of imperfection and it appears as though the rear picnic trays were not restored and are nice originals. The original radio and speaker are included in the sale as a more modern stereo system was installed. All of the instruments function as designed, however the clock is not functioning. The under-dash air conditioning is a period correct unit and works well, as is necessary here in Arizona!

The heart of the Silver Cloud II is its venerable 6.2-liter V8 and robust drivetrain, a first for Rolls-Royce. The engine runs very well with excellent power. The engine compartment is in beautiful condition after being restored to show condition during its restoration in 1998. Major mechanical restoration was performed by Rusnak Roll-Royce and subsequent service work was performed by British Automotive in Scottsdale. The engine and engine compartment detailing is largely correct and it is in very nice condition today. The chassis was fully cleaned and painted by Distinctive Coachworks during its restoration and looks terrific today.

This Silver Cloud drives very well and has been well cared for through the years. The automatic transmission works well and shifts smoothly. This Silver Cloud benefits from its factory power steering, which makes driving effortless. We love the comfort and feel while driving.

Included in the sale are some spare parts, keys, spare, lug wrench, jack, tire pump, flashlight, and many of the small and large tools. Also included is a custom fitted car cover and the original handbook and a supplemental service book. The history file is complete with decades of extensive restoration and service records, factory build sheets, photographs and much more. All the acquired photos and documented history makes her extra special.

SALE PENDING!! This is a beautiful 1961 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud II Saloon that is a true two-owner car with 58,000 miles from new and is a fantastic survivor. With its original paint, including its original pinstriping, this would be a very competitive entrant in a Preservation Class at most national concours events. Specifically ordered for US delivery (LHD), this Rolls was specified and built to be used for continental touring. As such, its original owner ordered her with a gorgeous complete set of six matching suitcases, which are still with it today. This Rolls has a fantastic provenance that includes an incredible history and is well documented.

This left-hand drive Rolls was custom ordered by its original owners and was shipped from the factory to New York via the ship ‘Parthia’ on August 26, 1960. She was a gift from Dr. Leon Hermann to his wife Helen “Elena” Aregento Hermann and was delivered to their home in Riverdale, NY on September 24, 1960. Elena enjoyed the Rolls in New York until her husband passed shortly after its purchase. She then shipped the Rolls to their home in Paris, France, where it remained until the 1980s. Elena’s stepdaughter, Francoise Hermann, inherited the Rolls and brought her back to the U.S. to use at her Falmouth, MA estate until her death in 2003. We are selling the Rolls on behalf of the estate of its owner, a longtime and well respected member of the RROC. He acquired her in December of 2003 and has continued its proper maintenance.

Included in the history file for the Rolls are original photos capturing Elena with the Rolls in front of her NY home, along with photos of Elena and Francoise with the Rolls in Paris. This Rolls comes complete with its original gorgeous complete set of six matching suitcases as listed on the purchase invoice. The suitcases include the original keys and are covered with various voyage tags documenting their travels. Up until its current owner, she has been driven by only four people: Elena, a chauffeur in Paris, a chauffeur in the U.S., and Francoise’s attorney, Charles Dodson. This is a wonderful driving Rolls that has been enjoyed and kept in very nice original condition overall.

Her livery is stunning in her original paint specified as Ivory (Paint Code 5301) and Black Masons (Paint Code 501) with its original factory pinstriping intact. The paint has brilliant depth and shine, as you would expect from a chauffeur-maintained 58,000 mile example. The chrome and stainless steel trim are overall in nice condition with only minor scratching and small dents on the bumper and bumper over-riders.

The interior is overall very nice with its original Beige Leather (VM 3234) being professionally replaced by its previous owner. The Beige carpeting and replacement Brown mouton sheepskin overlays are all in very nice condition. The overlays are in both the front and rear passenger compartments. The wood is presentable and has a consistent patina like the rest of the Rolls. The gauges and controls are all in working order including the power windows.

The heart of the Silver Cloud II is its venerable 6.2 liter V8 and robust drivetrain, a first for Rolls-Royce. The engine runs very well with excellent power. The very clean and original engine compartment confirms that she has been well maintained and loved since new. The brake system was refurbished by Silver Cloud expert, Don Clark right after the current owner’s purchase and are still functioning properly. This Silver Cloud drives very well and has been well cared for through the years. The automatic transmission works well and shifts smoothly. This Silver Cloud benefits from its factory power steering, which makes driving effortless. We love the comfort and feel while driving.

Included in the sale are the original set of six matching suitcases listed on the invoice with their keys, spare, lug wrench, jack, tire pump, flashlight, and all the small and large tools. Also included is a car cover and the original handbook and two supplemental service documents for use in the US and France. The history file is complete with many years of extensive service records, factory build sheets, original sales invoice, photographs and much more. All the acquired photos and documented history makes her extra special.

This is a very nice 1960 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud II saloon which has been enjoyed by one family since 1986. This is a driver and touring quality Rolls that has been used sparingly and kept in overall nice condition. It is beautiful in Mason’s Black with Beige leather interior and, importantly, includes well-functioning rear-air conditioning.

LSTB212 was ordered through Grund & Co. to be delivered to Amsterdam, Netherlands for Mr. Wayne Dorland It was dispatched to Rolls-Royce Lillie Hall and was shipped on the ship Koningen Emma to the Netherlands on April 25, 1960. Presumably, Mr. Dorland had the car delivered to the continent for a European tour. It was then immediately transported by Mr. Dorland to his home in Parsippany, NJ where he enjoyed the car for the next 14 years. Please note that we have added a few photos of the Rolls in the US in the early 1960’s, when it was imported by Mr. Dorland.

Its next known owner was in 1978, RROC member and collector Ken Arey of Advance, North Carolina. Mr. Arey sold it to RROC member Paul Beetlestone of Palo Alto, CA. And finally, Mr. Beetlestone sold it to its last owner (along with his sister) of 35 years, Mr. Jay Shotwell of Palo Alto, CA and Gold Canyon, AZ in 1986.

This Rolls was originally ordered in Sage Green (Valspar 15749) over Smoke Green (Valspar 15746) and was repainted in Mason’s Black most likely in the early 1980’s. Nowhere that we’ve seen is there evidence of the color change except for the factory build sheet which specify the original color combination. It was ordered with high frequency horns and a button in place of the mascot, most likely for fear of the Spirit of Ecstasy being stolen on its shipment to Amsterdam. The mascot was delivered with the car in the glove box.

The Mason’s Black paint is in very nice touring condition today. Since the repaint was likely about 40 years ago, it has several touched-up areas. We review the condition of the paint in some detail in the inspection video. There are absolutely no signs of rust, corrosion or even significant cracking in the paint. Mainly just a number of touched up scratches and chips. These are really evident only upon close inspection. Refer to the inspection video for details. The Tan coachstripes really pop and compliment the Mason’s Black livery.

The chrome and stainless are in nice condition. The front bumper is in very nice condition, whereas the rear bumper has a few smaller dents.

The Beige leather (VM3234) interior is in very nice touring condition. There are no rips or tears. The leather upholstery was likely replaced in its original color when it was painted, about 40 years ago. Being kept in Palo Alto for most of this time, it is very soft and supple today. We had the seats very lightly dusted with leather dye to freshen it, giving it another 20 years of pleasurable use. The wood is presentable and has a consistent patina as the rest of the Rolls, but it wouldn’t be too difficult to refinish some or all of the wood and really make it stand out! We would recommend this to be done.

The engine compartment shows a nice honest original Rolls that has been well maintained and loved. We have a variety of service invoices and the most recent was a full annual servicing by British car specialists. In the documents on our listing page we have nearly 20 years worth of service receipts. It has been recently serviced and overall shows well. The undercarriage is without rot and is in good condition without having ever been detailed. There is light surface rust on some of the undercarriage, but only superficial and there is not rot. The rear spring leather gator covers are in very nice condition, which further supports that the Rolls has not been exposed consistently to inclimate weather.

Included in the sales is the original owners handbook as well as many of the large and small tools. We have this priced well as the Hagerty Price Guide has a No. 4 condition valued at $42,350 (with air conditioning).

For more details and information, please text, call or email Harry Clark at +1.623.404.9042 or sales@classicpromenade.com. The Rolls is in our Phoenix showroom.
