We believe this to be one of the most important SLs in existence today. As a totally original 1970 Mercedes 280SL, this has all its original paint and interior and is spectacular. And the color combination is simply stunning! You could search for a decade and never find such a gorgeous original survivor. And, its provenance is equally as compelling. One California owner since new before becoming part of one of the top collections of Mercedes in the world.

Having been bought new at Mercedes-Benz of Hollywood, it is a rust-free California “Blue-Plate” car, having now accumulated a total of 52,500 miles. We love cars like this. This is a preservation class show-stopper. It is nearly all original. The original books and manuals are there, the original spare wheel, tools, etc. Even the spare tire is the original, unused, Firestone Phoenix tire!

The rare Horizon Blue livery (Code 304) is handsome and has only been lightly touched up as needed over the years. We have examined the car thoroughly with a paint meter and examined all the original details to ensure that this is indeed an original motorcar. It is so nice, it was readily accepted and shown at the Arizona Concours in its Preservation Class. It features the Horizon Blue hardtop as well as a new factory correct dark blue canvas top. The stunning exterior is complemented beautifully by the original Blue MB Textured interior, including the nearly perfect original blue carpeting. Over the carpet and to help preserve the carpet are new Coco Mats.

The original Becker Europa AM/FM stereo is still mounted in the dash. And the dealer installed Frigiking air conditioning works well and blows ice cold.

Overall, this 280SL is cosmetically in gorgeous original condition and is as comfortable on the show field as a driving tour. All new subframe and engine mounts and any maintenance needed was performed on the motorcar by the collections preferred Mercedes engineers.

The only cosmetic imperfections that we noticed were an old small paint repair near the drivers side hood that could have been performed better and a crack in the steering wheel. Both are pointed out in the photos. The engine compartment and rest of the car has an excellent minimal amount of patina that is stunning.

The car is absolutely as rust free as you will ever find. It is in remarkable condition. The trunk is in perfect original condition as well as the mat in the trunk. This example has the power steering, automatic transmission, bumper overriders, tinted glass and the factory hardtop in Horizon Blue.

The original chrome is in excellent condition. This car has obviously been garaged its entire life.

The car will be sold with the complete file, books, tools, and, if desired, the carrier for the hardtop.

This is an increasingly rare opportunity to find a one previous owner 52,000 mile survivor from California. For more details call Harry Clark at +1.623.404.9042 or email us at sales@classicpromenade.com. The 280SL is available for viewing in Phoenix, AZ.

This is an increasingly rare find. It is a one owner, rust-free California car, mostly original, with all documentation since new having accumulated a total of 75,000 miles. The original owner is now 82 years old and it is time for it to have a new caretaker for future generations.

We love cars like this. The file is at least two inches thick with all receipts since 1969. And they are all in chronological order! All the books and manuals are there, the original spare wheel, tools, etc.

The rare Dark Green (Color 268) livery is handsome and has the green hardtop as well as the original green canvas top. The exterior is complemented beautifully by the original Cognac (140) tan MB Textured interior, including the nearly perfect original brown carpeting. The original Becker Europa AM/FM stereo is still mounted in the dash. This is a true survivor.

The car is absolutely as rust free as you will ever find. It is in remarkable condition. The trunk is in perfect original condition as well as the mat in the trunk. This example has the power steering, automatic transmission, bumper overriders, tinted glass and chrome roof bars.

The chrome is very good to excellent and is all original. This car has obviously been garaged its entire life. The paint was redone years ago and looks very nice. It could almost pass as original paint, it has a few scratches, no dents or real issues. Look at the inspection video for more details. It is truly exceptional.

This Pagoda was bought new from Edward K. Cumming & Co. on August 25th 1969 for $8,129. Charles Davis traded in his 1968 250SL for this car.

The car will be sold with the complete file, books, tools, car cover and, if desired, the carrier for the hardtop.

This is an increasingly rare opportunity to find a one owner 75,000 mile survivor from California. For more details call Harry Clark at +1.623.404.9042 or email us at sales@classicpromenade.com.
