This Impala was produced in December of 1963 and acquired and enjoyed by its first owner in Ohio for 32 years. The Impala had some restoration work performed in 1986 and was soon put into storage due to the owner’s health. The Super Sport was inherited by the first owner’s nephew and was acquired by Ivan Goday of Campbell, OH in 1995. Mr. Goday enjoyed and maintained the Impala for 19 years when it was acquired by John Hyland of Springfield, OR. Eight years later, the Impala was acquired by Mr. Hyland’s long-time friend and current owner, David Kammerer. Mr. Kammerer is an avid automotive collector and is known for the care and maintenance of his collection of amazing American automobiles which he displays in his climate-controlled garage.

The stunning livery of this Impala Super Sport is a lustrous Ember Red (Paint Code 922) and is in excellent condition overall.  The chrome and bright work are in very nice overall condition. The SS badges and all emblems are correct and in very nice condition as are the SS wheel covers which are mounted on red wheels. The wheels are wrapped in B.F Goodrich bias-ply tires which all show little wear. The trunk is in beautiful condition with the appropriate mats and comes complete with a spare tire that is likely the original spare, complete with label. The livery of this rare and multi award-winning Impala shows very well overall and needs nothing to be shown and toured.

The interior is in beautiful condition overall in red vinyl (Trim Code 875-Z) and shows very little wear only in the high traffic areas.  This Impala has been inspected by various authorities and we all agree that the interior is original to the car.  The condition of the original interior supports the low mileage.  The Super Sport only bucket seats are chrome trimmed and show very well. The factory optioned padded red vinyl dash is in beautiful condition as are the gauges, machined stainless backing plates and controls knobs. The locking chrome center console comes with a beautiful SS badge and is home to the chrome 4-speed manual shifter complete with a white shift knob. The red steering wheel is in very nice condition and displays the words “Super Sport” in the center of the horn. The red-on-red color combination of this award-winning Impala shows beautifully.

The heart of this Impala Super Sport is its coveted 409 ci V-8 motor which is housed in the nicely detailed and painted engine compartment. The 409 produces 425 hp at 6,000 rpm with its two 4-barrel Carter carburetors mounted on the aluminum intake manifold and sounds amazing with its stainless-steel dual exhaust system. The high horsepower output is transferred to the rear wheels through a 4-speed manual transmission and posi-traction rear end. The motor is accented with a beautiful chrome air cleaner complete with the Chevrolet logo and 409 emblems. The chrome valve covers are in very nice condition and display the 425 Horsepower chrome and black stickers. The engine compartment shows very well overall and needs nothing to be ready for shows.

Accompanying this amazing Impala Super Sport are 20-plus trophies and awards, the original radio unit, assorted memorabilia, the Owner’s Guide, and several period correct documents.

It does have some minor rust showing through on the rockers but overall it is very solid and a great car to complete the restoration while enjoying it at car shows and tours.   We ran the Filler Detective over the entire car and found absolutely no bondo or filler.  There is nothing “hidden” which is great news!!

We do not know the detailed history of this motorcar so although the drivetrain is fully rebuilt we do not know the overall mileage.  Looking at the wear it would appear to be at most 145,000 total miles.

George is to this day a lover of all things Chevrolet.  He has been buying new Chevy’s since 1956 and ordered a new Chevy every four years like clockwork.  He also bought his first Chevy convertible in 1959 and continued with them until his last Chevy convertible, the 1968 that we are offering in our inventory.

George’s wife used this 1972 Impala as her “about town” car and together they used it as their vacation car.  They have traveled to Scottsdale, Tahoe, Palm Springs and many other destinations accumulating years of enjoyable memories.  The motorcar has accumulated a total of 116k miles in the 38 years they owned the car.

The car has been garaged since new and has never had any body work, accidents or rust of any kind.  It is all original and in show condition as an original motorcar.

The car was special ordered by George in Antique White (Code 11-11) paint with a white power operated convertible top, and white vinyl interior to match the 1968 Impala Convertible.  The interior is all original and in show condition.  It is a matching numbers car with the 400 cid V-8 with the Turbo Hydromatic 3-speed transmission, air conditioning, tilt wheel, power steering and power brakes.  George has been using Mobil 1 synthetic oil in his Impala since 1992!!

George used this 1968 Impala as his daily driver to and from Compton and later Cerritos for about ten years.  He had accumulated a total of 142k miles in the 42 years he owned the car.  At 86,424 miles the engine was thoroughly rebuilt by the former service manager of dealership from where he ordered the car.

The car has been garaged since new and has never had any body work, accidents or rust of any kind.  The car was repainted in 1985 and a new convertible top installed in 1997.  We have since wet sanded the paint and it is very presentable for use and car shows, although not in any way in concours condition.

The car was special ordered by George in Ermine White paint (Code 900CC) and has a white power operated convertible top, and the original parchment vinyl interior.  The interior is all original and in good condition.  It is a matching numbers car with the 307 cid V-8 with the Turbo Hydromatic 3-speed transmission, power steering and power disc brakes with the great looking rally wheels.  George has been using Mobil 1 synthetic oil in his Impala since 1992!!
