This 1956 Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith (FLW7) features four-door, seven-passenger limousine coachwork by Park Ward and was initially ordered as a Rolls-Royce corporate limousine and factory demonstrator. FLW7 was used in the Royal Wedding of Prince Edward, Duke of Kent, in 1961. It was sold to its first private owner in 1961 and spent a decade with an owner in Nottingham before being imported to the US in 1978. That owner remained its steward through 1993, and, under subsequent ownership in 2016, the car was donated to the Rolls-Royce Owner’s Club Foundation Museum. This is the more desirable Silver Wraith with the combination of the later longer wheelbase with its larger engine, power steering and automatic transmission. The former owner has added about 2,000 miles over the first six months in 2025 using it almost daily, ensuring that it is ready to enjoy!

Today the car remains in good driver-quality condition throughout, with some age visible to the finishes, which have been selectively redone over time. The front seat was recently reupholstered in correct color-dyed leather, with the balance of the interior remaining original. It is accompanied by a decanter set for its cocktail compartment, most of its large tools, spare wheel/tire, and jack.

Power is provided by a 4.9L F-head inline-six paired with a four-speed Hydra-Matic automatic transmission, and the car is finished in black and gold with tan pinstripes over a beige leather driver’s compartment and tan Wilton wool rear passenger compartment. Equipment includes twin SU carburetors, fog lights, power steering, power-assisted brakes, rear jump seats, a glass cabin partition, Wilton wool carpets, and an AM/FM radio.

The four-door limousine body was crafted by Park Ward of London, England, and is finished in black and gold with tan pinstripes. As-needed paintwork and touch-ups over the course of the car’s life are seen. The exterior is very handsome and in overall nice driver quality condition. Exterior equipment includes fog lights, a Spirit of Ecstasy ornament, fender-mounted side mirrors, semaphore turn signals, and a chrome grille surround, trim, and bumpers. Dings and imperfections are present.

Black 16” steel wheels feature tan pinstripes, and they are mounted with 7.50R16 Coker Classic wide-whitewall radial tires. The car features power steering and is equipped with an independent front and semi-elliptic rear suspension with hydraulically adjustable rear shocks. Stopping power is provided by servo-assisted drums.

The cabin features a glass partition, and the rear bench seat and fold-out jump seats are upholstered in tan Wilton wool, while Wilton wool carpets line both passenger compartments. The partition wall contains a lighted burl walnut cabinet housing a cocktail set consisting of four crystal glasses and two decanters. Radio controls are located in the right-side armrest.

The right-hand-drive chauffeur’s compartment has been reupholstered in beige leather. The three-spoke steering wheel fronts a wood dash housing a 100-mph speedometer, an analog clock, a combination gauge for oil pressure and coolant temperature, and auxiliary displays for amperage and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 50k miles, approximately 2,000 of which were added under current ownership over the past six months. The 4.9L F-head inline-six features twin SU carburetors and sends power to the rear wheels through a four-speed Hydra-Matic automatic transmission.

Details Coming Soon!!

1956 Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith Limousine by Park Ward

Every Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith chassis produced between 1946 and 1959 was fitted with custom coachwork by some of the finest shops, on a platform that in typical Rolls-Royce fashion enjoyed constant gentle evolution of its specifications. Chassis number FLW7, the Silver Wraith offered here, was equipped with an automatic transmission and bodied by Park Ward to its popular design number 704, an imposing formal limousine, with its rather traditional design lightened by beautifully crowned, deeply skirted fenders and a swept tail. It was originally delivered in October 1956 to none other than Rolls-Royce Ltd. itself, with the build sheet noting “Company Car—Derby Transport Department,” and Lawrence Dalton’s Rolls-Royce: The Classic Elegance recording its assignment to the Aero (engine) Division. Further records note “ex-demonstrator car,” and that it was apparently turned into Car Mart, Ltd. of London for sale in 1961.

In 1976 the car appeared on the other side of the Atlantic, owned by James H. Selway of York, Pennsylvania. It would be recorded in his ownership with the Rolls-Royce Owners Club through 1993. Afterward it appears to have remained in York, owned by John L. Finlayson, who listed it with the Rolls-Royce Owners’ Club from 2004 to 2016.

This is a gorgeous 1953 Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith with the elegant HJ Mulliner Touring Limousine coachwork that was used by her majesty Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip in the 1957 Royal Tour of Canada. Covering a mere 31,000 miles from new and featuring its beautiful original interior, this Silver Wraith is simply stunning. The livery was specially ordered in “Cadillac Green” and is spectacular. This Silver Wraith needs nothing to be enjoyed for driving or shows.

This Silver Wraith was ordered with the HJ Mulliner Design No. 7249 and was acquired new by Mr. Jack Morse of The Dell Rose Nurseries in Eaton, Norwich. In about 1955 she was imported into Canada where she remained until 2008. By October 12-16th 1957, this Silver Wraith was used to transport her majesty the Queen and Prince Phillip on the Queens first Royal Tour of Canada. During this Royal Tour, the Queen became the first reigning monarch to inaugurate a session of Parliament. There was a state dinner held in her honor where Queen Elizabeth donned a breathtaking Norman Hartnell gown that gained fame because of its jeweled maple leaf design. It seems likely and appropriate that this Silver Wraith was used for this occasion. We have not had an opportunity to find photographs of this, however, a plaque has been mounted on its dashboard facia for decades memorializing the occasion.

This Silver Wraith is very well documented, and her owners have been active in the RROC since at least 1973. This Silver Wraith is featured in many Rolls-Royce books and numerous copies of the Flying Lady. The ownership history is well documented, and she has been part of collections of Rolls-Royces and Bentleys for at least the past 55 years. She was imported from Canada into the United States due to the passing of her owner. His son sold her to her last owner who acquired her for $115,000 in about 2009 and has sold her due to very advanced age. He was an RROC member for over 50 years.

The Cadillac Green livery was specifically ordered by her first owner and is specified on her build sheets. It is what we would refer to as Brewster Green, a luscious dark green that appears black except for in direct sunlight. At some point, she benefitted from a complete bare metal respray that is nearly perfect today. It has been well polished to a deep luster and is complimented with a gray pinstripe and ample chrome and stainless. The lines of the design are very sexy, yet formal. The chrome shows some wear in the higher touch areas, such as the driver’s door handle and the passenger side front headlight. Mostly, the chrome and stainless are gorgeous. The wide white walled tires look nice and very appropriate.

The interior features its original Gray Leather and that is still very soft and supple with no cracks. The rear seat shows a little more wear. The carpets are all original and in remarkable condition, supporting the 31,000 miles from new. The overlay rug in the rear compartment is fantastic and a piece of art. The wood throughout is excellent with only some very small imperfections that no one would ever notice. It invariably has been redone at some point and is show quality. The electric division window works well, and the interior lights seem to all work well. There is the original multi-band radio as well as a modern radio installed. The interior features the tool tray and owner’s manual in the respective compartments.

The venerable 4.6 liter straight six cylinder and four-speed transmission operate impeccably. The engine compartment is in beautiful condition and can be shown with pride. The oil pressure is excellent, and the operating temperatures are perfect. This Silver Wraith is truly a 31,000-mile original car that has been loved by each of her owners. She is a special car with a wonderful provenance. She comes complete with her jack, most of her large tools, torch (flashlight), car cover, original spare and an incredible history.

For more information and details, please call, text or email Harry Clark at +1.623.404.9042 or sales@classicpromenade.com. This Silver Wraith is available for viewing at our Phoenix showroom.

SALE PENDING!! This is a multiple Best of Show and first place winning 1951 Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith Park Ward Saloon that has participated in numerous RROC Tours and events. Being restored for both showing and touring, it is a wonderful balance of gorgeous looks and fun to drive. This has the most desirable and rare combination of features including left hand drive (LHD) and four speed manual transmission. The Park Ward Style 144 was the most popular design on the Silver Wraith chassis and the sexy curvaceous lines are fantastic.

LWME84 was delivered new to Mrs. C. Salvago in France. Mrs. Salvago was a stunning figure in Paris and her Silver Wraith must have been quite a scene (we have a photo of her in the photo gallery). It was first registered with the RROC in New York by April of 1969. From 1969 through 1992 this Silver Wraith was enjoyed by Mr. Long in Brooklyn, NY. It was then acquired by the famous and fun Gary Wales in Southern California and was resold to Tom Warden, Esq in 1992.

Mr. Warden is highly respected within the Southern California region of the RROC, holding various board positions including being its former President. He commenced a full restoration of the Rolls, including a bare metal respray, chrome plating, a new interior and significant mechanical work. He used many of the highly respected experts in Southern California.

Mr. Warden completed the restoration by about 2000 and then used her at RROC and AACA events for the next 13 years. During that time, he was awarded numerous Best of Show awards, first place awards and participated on many tours. LWME84 was thoroughly enjoyed and well loved.

During April of 2013, the Silver Wraith was acquired by a well-known collection of 3,500 collector cars. We acquired her earlier this year from the collection and fully recommissioned her for its next loving caretaker.

The livery is stunning in Bordeaux and Georgian Silver two-tone, which complement its sweeping lines. The paint is in concours condition today with only a few small touched up areas that are not visible without close scrutiny. The panels are beautifully smooth, and the paint has a glass finish that is ready for show. The chrome and stainless steel are in very good to excellent condition throughout. The iconic Rolls-Royce radiator shell was professionally polished and looks great today. The wide white walled tires look perfect for a LHD Rolls in the US. We love the curvaceous style!

The interior is a matching Burgundy leather and Wilton wool that looks perfect with the paint colors. The gray wool broadcloth headliner is the perfect complement to the burgundy leather. The interior was done by Mike Ambrose who has prepared many concours classics for Pebble Beach. The wood has all been refinished and is in good to very good condition. This Wraith was ordered with an electric driver’s door window. An area for improvement is the missing inside rear window surround.

The engine compartment is detailed for show and is in wonderful condition today. The Silver Wraith performs well and ran cool even in 110-degree F weather here in Phoenix. Its venerable 4.3 liter straight six cylinder is quiet and smooth with excellent power. The four-speed manual column shift is easy to use and shifts with confidence. The chassis has been cleaned and painted and is very presentable today. The wiring has been replaced with a new wiring harness.

The Silver Wraith is complete with most of its large tools, jack, spare tire, flashlight, lube canisters and has a battery cut-off switch, seatbelts and a more modern stereo. We disconnected and removed its rear speakers, but replacements can easily be added. This Silver Wraith comes with some spares and historical documentation. The awards remain with Mr. Warden.

For more information and details, please call, text or email Harry Clark at +1.623.404.9042 or sales@classicpromenade.com. This Silver Wraith is proudly displayed in our Phoenix showroom.

SALE PENDING to WA!! This Hooper Teviot III is one of the most desired bodies on the Silver Wraith chassis. WVH89 has benefitted from a no-expense spared restoration from 2001-2004 that is documented with a huge file of receipts totaling in excess of $125,000 (and is not a comprehensive file, we’re sure), leaving on offer here a gorgeous 1953 Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith Hooper Limousine. This Silver Wraith would be competitive in most all concours events, but would be sublime to enjoy through wine country or just to and from a wonderful dinner. This was a restoration performed with the top experts in the world and was part of a collection of 50 Rolls-Royces, and this example has had almost no miles added since.

The livery is completed in Tudor Gray that is done in a more modern Phantom Gray (Paint Code PPG 01E3). The paint is beautiful and perfect save for a few light scratches from being stored for many years in the collection. The chrome is absolutely breathtaking as well as the stainless steel, all being finished by Paul’s Chrome. Look closely at the grill surround, beautifully polished and brilliant! It is also complimented by the proper R100 headlights, FT 67 center spotlight and SFT 576 fog lights. It also features the Heavy Duty Wilmot Breeden bumpers, which give it a more modern look.

The interior is a gorgeous light beige leather and is actual Connolly leather and is perfect in every way. The Wilton wool carpeting is also excellent. Importantly, the leather was supplied by the Rolls-Royce supplier, the wood veneers were redone by Madera Concepts and all the new bits were supplied by Albers Rolls-Royce, now Bentley of Zionsville. Nothing was skimped.

The engine compartment is finished at a concours level. Again, a significant number of NOS parts were acquired for its restoration, and it shows. The engine and the entire engine compartment would compete well in any concours competition. The venerable 4.5 liter six-cylinder engine performs very well, mated to the modified GM Hydramatic four-speed automatic transmission. The servo-assisted power brakes are also all comprised of new parts and work beautifully. This car performs very well. Even in our 110 degree F weather this Silver Wraith was faithful and repeatedly drove well. The oil pressure is acceptable but topping out above 23 pounds and dropping to just below 10 pounds under idle.

The chassis is beautifully restored and is ready for concours competition. Again, it is obvious that the restoration was setting out to be the very best. And that it is.

This Silver Wraith includes most all of the large tools and oil fittings, torch (flashlight), owners manual, etc. But it does not have its tool tray nor the small tools.

For more information and details regarding this Silver Wraith, please call, text or email Harry Clark at +1.623.404.9042 or sales@classicpromenade.com. This motorcar is available for inspection in our Phoenix showroom.

See inspection report, full photos, videos and more at classicpromenade.com.

We are pleased to present this beautiful original 1951 Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith James Young Four Light Limousine (chassis No. WLE6) that is a beautiful original example. This is a driver-quality Silver Wraith that we believe is worthy of an interior restoration, or kept as a preserved survivor. The history of this car is fantastic and this is, in our opinion, one of the best styles penned by James Young for the Silver Wraith. The styling is sleek and classic, and features ample amounts of the phenomenal James Young woodwork inside and a generous sunroof.

WLE6 was first delivered from the factory in January 1951. The first registered owner of WLE6 was the famous Lord Beaverbrook, who was one of the leading figures in the British empire through both world wars and the publisher of the largest circulation newspaper in the world. The second owner of this Silver Wraith is documented to be Kenneth D. Watson of Denver, CO. He was a longtime RROC member and had WLE6 listed in the directory from 1966 until 1981. By August 11, 1988, it was acquired by the father of its present owner, David Capra, also from Denver, CO. Mr. Capra enjoyed and cherished her for the past 33 years.

WLE6 is a James Young Limousine with Body Design WR18A and Body Number 1755. This is one of only a handful of examples of this body design built during 1951.

The deep and rich Masons Black livery is complimented with tan coachstripes and is in tour quality condition still retaining its beautiful luster and shine. We are not sure if much of the paint is original or if it is an older repaint from the 1970’s or early 1980’s. But it is in overall nice condition. There are many small paint chips that have been touched up over the decades. There are a few dings and near the drivers rear door there is some very fine cracking, most of which is not noticeable without close inspection. The chrome and stainless trim are all very good to excellent. The rear bumper has more fine scratches from accessing the trunk over the years. The radiator shell has the expected light scratches in the stainless.

We love the style of the James Young close-coupled passenger compartment that is devoid of the rear quarter light glass. And the Lucas R100 headlights are beautiful and give the car an imposing and formal pre-War appearance. It also features the center driving light and two auxiliary Lucas fog lights.

The interior is also in beautiful mostly original condition with the expected patina from 70 years of use. The tan-colored leather is soft and supple but has many areas where the leather has cracked from age. The leather has had a couple sections replaced many years ago and the rear seat bottom has been replaced using matching tan vinyl. The arm rests in the rear passenger compartment have some cracking. The wood veneer is gorgeous. Few Rolls-Royces have such stunning use of interior wood and spectacular patterns than James Young limousines. This Rolls is worthy of the investment to replace the leather and refinish the wood.

The wood grain is beautifully and heavily contrasted and is in very nice condition to be refinished. There are very few areas where the veneer would need to be replaced. The rear compartment has a beautiful cocktail cabinet, twin picnic tables which have the compartments for the glasses and flasks (the Rolls does not have the fittings for the requisites). The rear passenger center armrest has a compartment for personal items.

The matching tan wool carpeting was replaced many years ago and is in good condition. This James Young limousine also features a multi-band radio and the tool kit is nearly complete and is under the trunk compartment for large and small tools. The steering wheel has some normal small cracking as shown in the photo gallery.

The engine compartment is fairly well detailed and presents itself very well as a well maintained example. All the evidence suggests that this is a relatively low mileage example: the wear is minimal on the pedals, no wear near the keyhole for the ignition lock and the overall wear of the car. The car drives tight and is responsive. The 4.6 liter engine combined with its four-speed manual transmission results in a very smooth and reliable drivetrain. The undercarriage was undercoated when new and is all original, never having been detailed. The leather gators wrapping the rear leave springs are all intact and in good condition, confirming that this Rolls had not been exposed to inclement weather for years while in England. There is a small sheet metal section under the trunk that has some corrosion and would be easily replaced, if desired.

All documents and notes are included in the sale of this Silver Wraith. Our 158-point inspection report is published on our site for this Rolls. We’ve driven her for about 50 miles, including on the highway, and she drives and operates well. More recently it has benefitted from a new clutch, carburetor rebuild and fuel pump.

For more information and details on this Rolls-Royce, call, text or email Harry Clark at +1.623.404.9042 or sales@classicpromenade.com. This Rolls is available for inspection at our Phoenix showroom.

We are pleased to present “Zelda”, a 1951 Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith Hooper Touring Limousine (chassis No. WOF17) that is a rust-free and beautiful example that has enjoyed the same owner for the past 35 years. WOF17 is a Hooper Touring Limousine with Body Design No. 8283. Zelda is one of 15 examples of this body design built during 1951.

The white livery is in excellent condition with beautiful luster and shine. Although an older repaint, there are no scratches, dents or areas where the paint has been rubbed through. There are only a few small chips where the hood opens, most of which have been touched up. The white paint is complemented by proper burgundy coach stripes. The chrome and stainless trim are all excellent, with the exception of the passenger side rear wheel cover trim ring which has peeling and imperfections. The radiator shell has the expected light scratches in the stainless. We love the style of the Hooper-designed rear quarter light glass. And the Lucas R100 headlights are beautiful and give the car an imposing and formal pre-War appearance.

The burgundy leather is soft and supple with only minimal wear present. There are no rips or tears. Matching burgundy seat belts have been added for four passengers. The wood grain is beautifully contrasted and is in very nice condition. There are no noticeable cracks or issues, it is in overall very good to excellent condition. The matching burgundy Wilton wool carpeting is done just right and in very good condition.

The interior has a multitude of custom features, including leather padded tables for rear seat occupants, foot rests, a built-in wood cabinet for cocktail requisites or other vanity items, a World Radio, etc. The tool kit is nearly complete and is under the passenger side glove box and the Owner’s Manual is in the glove box. The antenna comes with the car but is not mounted since it doesn’t retract and would be difficult to clear a normal garage door.

The engine runs perfectly. On December 4th, 2020, we operated it for about 30-35 minutes. The oil pressure was excellent. After 30 minutes, the oil pressure reading was 22-24 pounds at idle and 34 pounds at 50 mph. The operating temperature ranged from 70 to 80 degrees C with an ambient temperature of about 72 degrees F. All the instruments, including the low fuel light warning, work great. Ask us how we know about the low fuel warning! The turn signals and semaphores all work as they should. Overall, Zelda is a delight to drive in every respect. She handles well and effortlessly keeps up with modern traffic. And the power assisted brakes work beautifully.

HISTORY OF WOF17
Zelda was purchased new by Mr. D. King who was by then running the publicly traded automotive and industrial equipment manufacturer George W. King Ltd. In Stratford, London. On July 29th, 1966, Mr. PB Williamson of Wimbledon, London purchased the Rolls from Frank Dale & Sons, trading in his 1939 Rolls-Royce. A copy of this sales invoice is included with the motorcar.

By the 1980’s the Rolls had been imported to Southern California. The professional golfer, Gene Littler, enjoyed the Rolls in his collection of about 20 collector cars located in the San Diego area. He had 29 PGA Tour Tournament wins, eight PGA Championship wins and was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1990. Mr. Littler just passed away in February 2019. By 1984, Mr. Littler traded the Silver Wraith into the Rolls-Royce dealership in order to acquire a Rolls-Royce Tiger Hunt motorcar. San Diego Ltd, the authorized San Diego area Rolls-Royce dealership, then offered WOF17 for sale, having accumulated about 52,000 miles. It is quite rare for Rolls-Royce dealerships to sell what was at that time a 33 year old motorcar. The Rolls was a beautiful example that had received a thorough restoration. Mr. TJ Moore also from the San Diego area purchased the Rolls for $52,000, which in 1984 was a handsome sum of money. He has enjoyed and maintained the Rolls ever since. Nearly all of the servicing since Mr. Moore acquired the Rolls has been performed by Symbolic Motor Cars. The odometer presently reads 57,185.

The Rolls is residing with its longtime owner in Southern California. Please call or text Harry Clark at +1.623.404.9042 or email us at sales@classicpromenade.com. We are pleased to help arrange transport worldwide.
