SALE PENDING!! In the late 20’s, American automotive standards were set by the three P’s: Packard, Pierce-Arrow and Peerless. Somehow, Peerless has nearly been forgotten and its cars are by far the most rare. This is a thorough and high quality older restoration done to high standards. And it looks incredible still. With just over 800 miles traveled since restoration, it is in good mechanical condition as well.

The livery is painted in four colors, three shades of green and black fenders. It looks fantastic. The paint is in overall good to very good condition. It has terrific luster and no noticeable cracking or other issues. The chrome is also in good to very good condition. Overall, the entire car has a consistent patina. It would be very comfortable at any car show and most all concours events.

This Peerless was bought new in San Diego, CA and remained there under long term ownership nearly all its life. In the early 1990’s, it benefited from a complete ground up restoration. You can see from the photo gallery that this was a very thorough restoration. After 30 years of ownership and restoration, the car was sold and spent about seven years at the Murphy Auto Museum in Oxnard, CA. From there, it was traded to join the vast collection of the present owner in Northern California.

This has an incredibly rare hood ornament that overlays onto a Moto-meter. This very opulent hood ornament was issued by Peerless only to special VIP repeat customers. The owner of the car had been offered $7,500 by a ornament collector- JUST FOR THE ORNAMENT!! Also included in the sale is an incredibly rare Peerless tire pressure gauge and its original pouch, both in spectacular condition.

The interior is done in a correct looking mohair. The flooring is rubber matting that is in very good condition.

The Peerless fires up easily with an electric fuel pump professionally mounted. The vacuum fuel system is still there and in excellent condition. The transmission and brakes work and seat belts and turn signals were added for safer touring. This is a testament to the fact that this is not meant to be a trailer queen. The new owner would need to perform a major service before enduring a tour.

With a 115 inch wheelbase and the dependable and powerful Continental 248 cu. in. straight six and three speed manual transmission, the motorcar performs well for the period. Peerless were made in Cleveland, Ohio from 1900 to 1931 and was considered an innovator having developed drum brakes, still used today.

Remember the Three P’s for Quality motorcars: Pierce Arrow, Packard and… Peerless!! We recently had the opportunity to buy this fabulous, rust free, California car since new Peerless Six-81. It features a restoration that was started in the 1970’s and never completed. In 1975 it was “wrapped-up” and stored until now. How do we know that? Well, the newspaper used to wrap the parts was the June of 1975 edition of the LA Times!

It has a new correct interior, paint, glass and full mechanical rebuild, including the brakes, etc. But it needs completing by an active hobbyist or collector. The cars big six cylinder engine runs well, has terrific oil pressure, runs cool and sounds like a Packard!! The hydraulic brakes even hold pressure after all these years!

The car was bought from a widow whose husband had passed away while he was restoring this quality motorcar. She needed money and sold this Peerless to a long-time Southern Californian collector back around 1994. The odometer shows 58,605 miles which is likely the total mileage since new. Of course this is a very solid rust free car that is missing very few incidental items.

All of the heavy lifting for the restoration has been completed. The items left are trim, wiring and lots of other little details. It features the Club Coupe storage box in the rear seating area and the highly desirable artillery wheels. It includes the original owners manual that is in very nice condition.

The Peerless is a very high end motorcar for 1929. It features a well execute hydraulic brake mechanism, the Peerless made engine, a mechanical fuel pump and well made hydraulic shocks. This is definitely a peer (well, Peerless) of Packard and other very expensive motorcars.

We will be having the pleasure of getting the car started over the upcoming weeks. Stay tuned or contact me at sales@classicpromenade.com or call me at 602.245.7200.
