This 1933 Packard Eight Series 1002 Phaeton is a well-preserved example powered by the 320ci L-head straight-eight paired with a 3-speed synchromesh transmission. With the original Light Yellow paint and original black leather interior, this Packard is a beautiful representation that would be a great weekend driver, tourer and welcome at local shows.

Originally sold new in 1933, one of only 1,099 Series 1002 chassis produced, this Packard has been cared for by a small number of dedicated enthusiasts. The earliest documented owner, Mr. Brown, retained the car for over 25 years before selling it in 1999. David Critchlow Sr. acquired the Packard in 2004, later selling it to Tom Crook, the esteemed Packard expert and restorer. Mr. Crook completed an engine rebuild and sold the car to the current owner in 2013, at which point it had just 4,618 miles since restoration. The current owner has been driven approximately 8,000 miles. This Packard is a former CCCA National First Prize winner and holds CCCA Full Classic status.

This Packard presents well and is in good overall condition. The Light-Yellow paint is in good condition and mostly original with some selected touchups over the years from normal use. The chrome trim accents are in good overall condition with some wear showing in the expected areas from high use. The Packard has dual horns, dual side spotlights, wind wings, windscreen that can lie flat, driving lamps, tan canvas-covered trunk and 17inch wire wheels. The tan canvas top is in good condition with minor fraying in two corners. This Packard is a beautiful, mostly original example that would be welcomed at local shows and a great motorcar to use for touring.

The Packard’s original interior is in good condition with age showing from regular use. The original black leather seating shows an overall patina with a couple tears. The black leather door sides are in great condition, and the brown carpet is in good overall condition. The dash presents well with the instrument panel in overall good condition. The interior is in considerably well-maintained condition for a Packard that has been a reliable driver over the years.

This model 1002 is powered by its original 320ci L-head straight-eight with nine main bearings, paired with a three-speed synchromesh manual transmission and single-plate clutch. Fuel is delivered through a Stromberg dual downdraft carburetor with automatic choke and a mechanical fuel pump. Power is sent to a semi-floating rear axle, with the chassis employing semi-elliptic leaf springs and worm-and-roller steering. Stopping power comes from mechanical drum brakes assisted by a vacuum power unit for all four wheels, with adjustments available for brake sensitivity. The car is equipped with Packard’s Ride Control system, offering driver-adjustable shock absorber settings. All factory instrument gauges are functional; a tachometer has been added.

Maintenance highlights include regular servicing every 500 to 750 miles, steering sector shaft and thermostat syphon assembly serviced in 2019 and tires replaced in 2023. The Packard was most recently serviced in July 2025, comes with service records and a collection of service manuals.

PRICE REDUCED $20,000!! This is a gorgeous example of a fully restored 1948 Packard Eight Station Sedan (Woodie) that has won numerous Best in Show and First Place wins and is one of the best extant. This Packard benefitted from a no-expense spared restoration by one of the top Packard specialty restoration firms in the country. This would be an ideal example to enjoy on tours or would be a competitive concours show car with only minor detailing. If you want a showroom new Packard Woodie, this is one to consider.

This Station Sedan is said to have been bought new in Pittsburg for one of the summer estates of the Mellon family. Later in its life, it joined a collection in Orange County, CA and was then acquired in 2009 by its present owner. This Packard benefitted with an exceptional nut-and-bolt restoration that was performed in 2011 by the craftsmen at Custom Auto Service in Santa Ana, CA. Custom Auto Service specializes in Packard’s and is the premier Packard restoration facility west of the Mississippi. (Custom Auto Service restored two Packard’s for us over the years, both being shown at the Pebble Beach Concours) Nothing was overlooked and no short cuts were taken. Starting with a well preserved, rust-free example, this restoration is of such quality that it garnered numerous first place awards including more than one Best in Show and the coveted Packard’s International Circle of Champions (requiring nearly perfect scores). The quality of the finishes are exemplary in every regard. This is also a very well optioned example, with the rare overdrive, radio, heater, backup light, Egyptian hood ornament and electromatic clutch.

The livery is finished in a concours quality Serpentine Green (Paint Code D) and is complimented by all new beautifully finished maple and ash wood. The paint is nearly perfect today with gorgeous shine and luster. It is beautifully polished for show. The chrome, as mentioned earlier, is fantastic and is absolutely of concours quality. The wood is all as-new. We love the rare Egyptian hood ornament which we have never seen before on a Packard.

The interior is finished with beautiful saddle vinyl with contrasting inserts that is in concours condition and is very well done. The saddle choice is both elegant and correct for the model. The wood painted trim on the inside is done beautifully as well. The chrome on the inside is also done to concours standards and is excellent. The gauges and trim are also done very well, and the tan carpeting is as-new. The headliner is finished in a beige vinyl and is tight and also looks as-new. The beautiful cargo area is finished in wood with stainless steel rails and is in concours condition.

The original venerable straight eight 288 CID five main bearing engine has been upgraded during the restoration to a more powerful 327 CID displacement, delivering 145 hp. The rebuilding of its original engine was performed by Cal Soest, a noted icon engineer within the Packard community. The power is transmitted through the three-speed with overdrive transmission. The R-9 overdrive is a rare option for this series Packard and a very important option for cars that will be toured and driven as it makes it capable of touring at modern highway speeds. Also added for touring are seat belts, a battery cut-off switch and radial tires. This also comes complete with a cache of spare parts, tools and such for the new owner.

The 22nd series Packard station sedans were the only Post War woodies offered by Packard. They were based on the six cylinder 120-inch wheelbase sedan bodies that were then shipped to the Briggs Manufacturing Company to be converted to the woodie wagons. The Packard was one of the first steel framed station wagons built, where the wood is not structural but rather more aesthetic. Over a nearly three-year production period only 3,900 were built.

For more information and details, please call, text or email Harry Clark at +1.623.404.9042 or sales@classicpromenade.com. The Packard is in our showroom in Phoenix, AZ.

This is an incredibly rare find: the 1926 Packard 243 Seven-Passenger Touring that has been cared for by two owners since 1958!! This Packard drives as only a low mileage example can and it looks stunning in its Roaring 20’s paint combination that is said to be original to this Packard. We love the rear mounted spare, accentuating the long and sleek silhouette. We have this priced to sell quickly!

This 243 was repainted back in 1958 in its original striking livery of Burnt Orange and Cream on the body, black fenders and teal wheels. It is incredibly well accessorized with a pair of Trippe Safety Lights mounted in the front, Bausch-Lomb headlight lenses, the Packard script on the front grill and the owners initials accessory plaque also on the front. The Packard scripted wind wings and an original spotlight are all mounted on the windshield. The paint is from 1958 and still looks striking today, but it is older and of driver quality with many smaller areas of rub through and orange peel.

The interior was completely redone in about 2003 with soft and supple black leather and beautiful Mercedes-Benz carpeting. The black canvas convertible top was also replaced and is also as new. To step inside this 243 you will use the rare Packard scripted step plates. We love the beautiful solid wood steering wheel that is a pleasure to hold. There are no side curtains with this Packard. Inside mounted on the dashboard is an accessory that we’ve never seen before: a Packard cigarette dispenser, ashtray and cigar lighter.

With 46,000 miles accumulated since new, this 243 is an absolute joy to drive. The venerable 358 CID straight eight engine produces 85 hp. Being rebuilt in 1981 with few miles added since, it has excellent power and shifts very easily through the gears. The three-speed transmission is very highly geared and this Packard will reach 80 mph. These 143 inch wheelbase Packards are a delight to drive. They are very quick and have the ability to spin the rear tires!

History of this Packard 243 Touring- Gloria B. Coulom of Boxborough, Mass. acquired this Packard in 1958. The Packard was very well accessorized and was a very low mile and all original example. She and her husband then commenced a cosmetic restoration including repainting it in its original livery of Burnt Orange and Cream on the body, black fenders and teal wheels. During the roaring 20’s and through the start of the depression, these vibrant and exciting color combinations were very popular for the expensive cars such as Packard and Cadillac. The Coulom’s enjoyed the Packard with their two daughters taking it on many trips and winning many awards. The Coulom’s continued to enjoy the Packard for several decades before setting out on an engine rebuild in 1981. Mrs. Coulom’s husband then passed shortly after the engine rebuild. The Packard then was largely stored with only occasional use for the following two decades.

By 2002, Mrs. Coulom was ready to pass the 243 onto another caretaker. She was referred to the Ft. Lauderdale Antique Car Museum in Florida where the enthusiasm of its owner, Arthur Stone, was well known. The Museum boasted a large collection of Packards. Mr. Stone acquired the 243 in 2002 and added it to his collection. Mr. Stone replaced the original interior with a beautiful black leather as well as a new black canvas convertible top. This 243 comes complete with letters from the previous owners and a nice collection of photos and other documents.

For more information and details, please call, text or email Harry Clark at +1.623.404.9042 or sales@classicpromenade.com. The 243 is available for inspection at our Phoenix showroom.

This is a beautiful 45,000 mile 1948 Packard Station Sedan that has been in California and restored only as-needed. The interior upholstery is original and in excellent overall condition with only a couple of small blemishes. The wood is also in excellent condition inside and out. This Station Sedan has been shown and is also set up perfectly for touring, with overdrive and radial tires.

The Cavalier Maroon livery has been done beautifully. It has been professionally polished for show and has brilliant luster. There are no chips in the common high used areas. The original wood is in gorgeous condition. This Station Sedan obviously spent the years in a garage based on the pristine original interior and the condition of the wood. There are absolutely no signs that we see of any replacement wood and the gaps between the joined areas look excellent. The wide white wall radials are the perfect choice for these Packards for improved handling, braking and safety. The hub caps have been upgraded to the senior cloisonné center medallions.

This Packard is fully accessorized with the iconic sun visor, Packard branded front fog lamps, the rare cormorant hood ornament that lights up, dual Packard logoed spot lights and a rear reverse light.

The interior continues the picture of a well loved original car with its gorgeous original tan vinyl interior. The seats are still very comfortable and as you can see from the photo gallery, are in excellent condition. We even asked our upholstery contractor to give a second opinion and he agreed that the seats, door panels and headliner are original. Of course, the carpeting is not original to the car. The dash is beautiful and all the faux wood painted door surrounds and dash are very nice. The instruments are clear and show no signs of being over exposed to the elements. Importantly, the chrome and pot metal on the interior are in beautiful condition. Everything feels nice and tight as only low mileage original cars can.

The engine compartment is overall nicely detailed. The engine is a slightly different shade of green, so we did not touch up the engine itself. It looks very nice. The ancillary components are nicely painted and the correct bolts are used in the body panel sections, which often are replaced with modern bolts. The wiring harness is original in the engine compartment with some fraying, but the electronics work well throughout the wagon. Overall, the engine compartment looks nice and would be fine at most car shows.

This Packard was recently displayed at the Concours on the Avenue in Carmel and has been invited to be shown at the Quail A Motorsports Gathering. But this is really a wonderful woodie to enjoy and use on tours. With the overdrive and radial tires, this is set up for driving and having fun.

The Chassis has at one time been cleaned and painted and is in touring condition. At one point sections of the floorboards have been replaced as you can see in the photo gallery. We have tested the rocker panels and fenders for any excess body filler with our “The Filler Detector” and it checked out fine within normal limits (see the video in the video gallery showing the results).

This Packard comes complete with extra sets of keys, the Owner’s Manual and a Shop Manual.

We have priced this Station Sedan well. The NADA Values show Average Retail at $124,300.

For more information and details, please call, text or email Harry Clark at +1.623.404.9042 or sales@classicpromenade.com. The Packard can be viewed or inspected at our Phoenix showroom.

Inspection reports available at www.classicpromenade.com. See full photos, videos and more.

This is a spectacular fresh concours-quality restoration of the iconic 1931 Packard Model 840 Deluxe Roadster that has proven itself as a multiple first place award winner. We love the elegant and sporty color combination of Light Tan and Packard Blue two tone that is fully complimented with most every accessory one would desire on an open 840 Packard. We love the chromed steel disc wheels that really help make the look.

The complimentary dark blue leather has the correct finish, which is rarely seen in most of todays restorations. The woodgraining is also correct and beautifully executed. The beautiful dark blue wool carpet completes the interior.

This is the premiere sport model, classic roadster for Packard, a full CCCA Classic. It is the last true roadster offering a factory-built, side curtain, open car with fold down windshield. In 1932 Packard introduced roll up windows. During the 1920s – 1930s Packard produced the best engineered and finest styled cars in America – if not in the world.

The 1931 Packard Eighth Series was one of the last designs Dietrich developed for the Packard company before he resigned in September of 1930. Introducing long sweeping fender designs, the Packard 840 Roadster is classic example of elegant and refined aesthetics and engineering. The long straight-eight engine required a long hood – a body stylist’s dream, a masterpiece. Production was less than 10 cars per day with only 626 Packard 840s produced in 1931.

The “Deluxe Eight 840″ was equipped with the Super 8 chassis (140.5”) and the biggest engine Packard offered with 120 HP from its venerable 384 cubic inch displacement side valve straight 8. Performance was upgraded from 1930 thanks to larger intake and exhaust ports with a three-piece manifold and a cylindrical pre-heat chamber. Fuel supply is from a “Detroit Lubricator 50” carburetor.

This Roadster was first shown at the 2018 AACA Fall Classic in Hershey where it was awarded its first, Junior award. At the 2019 Eastern Spring Nationals in Parsippany, NJ it was presented its Senior award, garnering 400 points. It received the Larter Award for outstanding vehicle at the AACA “Little Red School House” meet September 2019.

The owner purchased this 840 in 2012. Over the next seven years it underwent a full, frame-off restoration. The engine was completely rebuilt: new babbit bearings were provided by The Babbitt Pot, the cylinders were bored out 30 thousandths of an inch, new valves, guides and springs, the block was milled, and the crankshaft polished and balanced. This car runs and drives superbly. It handles well and is very fast compared to other cars of the era. The 1931 840 has a one-year-only feature; a four-speed, non-synchromesh transmission. It has leaf spring suspension and a Bijur automatic chassis lubrication system designed to lubricate forty-four key points each time the car is started.

This car is equipped with many original Packard options including dual side mounts with Packard mirrors, Trippe lights, the radiator stone guard, chromed disc wheels and a spectacular Packard trunk with a gorgeous set of fitted luggage.

As evidence that the recent restoration focused on the authenticity, attention to detail and correct nature of these 840 roadsters, the superior chrome work was done by Paul’s Chrome where all engravings on the lights, mirrors and even the cigar-type wiper motor were re-engraved prior to final plating.

For more information and details, please call, text or email Harry Clark at +1.623.404.9042 or sales@classicpromenade.com. The Packard is available for viewing outside of Boston, MA.

Complete details including inspection report available at: https://classicpromenade.com/for-sale/1949-packard-eight-station-sedan/

This is a gorgeous example of a fully restored 1949 Packard Eight Station Sedan (Woodie) that has won numerous first place awards and was a longtime rust-free California car. This Packard was bought and enjoyed by the world renowned bestselling author Clive Cussler, who enjoyed it along with his wife and family for several years. It is now being sold on behalf of the Janet Cussler Collection in Scottsdale, Arizona.

This Packard benefitted with an exceptional nut-and-bolt restoration. Nothing was overlooked and no short cuts were taken. Starting with a local California, rust-free example, this restoration is of such quality that it garnered numerous first place awards. The quality of the finishes are exemplary in every regard. This is also a very well optioned example, with the rare overdrive, radio, heater and sun visor.

The livery is finished in a concours quality Spruce Green Metallic (Paint Code D) and is complimented by beautifully finished maple and ash wood. The paint is nearly perfect today with only a couple of very small chips in areas that see significant use (the hood and drivers door jamb). It is beautifully polished with no orange peel or other issues. The chrome, as mentioned earlier, is fantastic and is absolutely of concours quality. The wood shows several years of use, but has recently been touched up to make it both beautiful and serviceable for use.

The interior is finished with beautiful brown leather that is in concours condition and is very well done. The leather choice is both elegant and correct for the model. The wood painted trim on the inside is done beautifully as well. The chrome on the inside is also done to concours standards and is excellent. The gauges and trim are also done very well and the correct black rubber floor mats look as new. The headliner is finished in a beige vinyl and is tight and also looks as new. The beautiful cargo area is finished in wood with stainless steel rails and is in concours condition with the exception of a small area of separation on the tailgate.

The venerable straight eight 288 CID five main bearing engine has 135 bhp and the power is transmitted through the three-speed with overdrive transmission. The overdrive is a rare option for the junior series Packard and a very important option for cars that will be toured and driven as it makes it capable of touring at modern highway speeds.

Over a nearly three year production period only 3,900 were built.

For more information and details, please call, text or email Harry Clark at +1.623.404.9042 or sales@classicpromenade.com. The Packard is in our showroom in Phoenix, AZ.

ONLINE ONLY AUCTION at www.classicpromenade.com.

Free To Bid. Inspection reports available. See full photos, videos and more. Auction Dates: Oct 14-24, 2020

SALE PENDING!!! This is a beautifully restored 1930 Packard 733 Convertible Coupe with rumble seat that benefited from a high-point concours restoration. Since the restoration, the Packard has covered under 50 miles, so it has yet to be broken-in. Everything was restored on this car.

This Packard was part of the J&R Vintage Auto Museum in New Mexico and was part of the liquidation of all the cars after the founder Gab Joiner passed away. It was acquired by, and is part of, the Janet Cussler Car Collection in Scottsdale, Arizona and is now available for sale. Janet and her late husband, best-selling author Clive Cussler, are world-renowned for their beautiful classic car collection.

With its 134.5 inch wheelbase, this is far easier to drive than the longer Packards of the era. The yellow and black livery with blackwall tires looks more like a Bugatti than a Packard. It has a European flair to it that you just don’t see often on Packards. The paint and body finish quality are excellent. All the chrome has been replated and is well done. The door closure and other operational functions are all excellent with panel fit that is very good (the bottom of the doors are off about 1/4″ to 1/2″).

The interior is replete with tan leather that is as-new, being soft and supple. The woodgraining, interior instrumentation and details are also excellent. The rumble seat appears never to have been used and the carpet and trim as well as the tan leather are all excellent. The tan Haartz cloth canvas convertible top is in very good condition and folds down in a few minutes. There are minor scuff marks where the rumble seat folds down, which is very normal even with limited use.

The engine detailing is correct and is showing a slight amount of patina from being held in a museum since restoration. Everything on this car has been rebuilt and restored. The chassis is well done, but would benefit from further cleaning before a concours event. The 320 CID straight eight engine has nine main bearings, performs well, and the carburetor has been recently rebuilt to ensure proper operations. The Packard emits some smoke which is likely from not being used and the valves not yet being seated.

For more details and information, please call or text Harry Clark at +1.623.404.9042 or email us at sales@classicpromenade.com. The Packard is available for inspection at our Phoenix showroom. We are pleased to perform a live video inspection and we help coordinate worldwide shipping.

We are proud to offer this 45,000 mile AACA Senior First Winning Packard Phaeton. This is body number “one” that was delivered new to Mountain Motors in Denver, CO and was undoubtedly used as a window decoration. This was as flashy as it got in 1935!! Mountain Motors also added the twin Buell Trumpet airhorns that still adorn this incredible motorcar.

It was bought in July of 1935 by a well know proprietor of a Denver Italian restaurant that was also regarded as an opera aficionado. He was well known for having the most flashy and upscale motorcars available at that time.

Well, he kept this Packard until about 1968 when it made its way into the hands of Fred “Buzz” Huntington. Buzz was the owner of RCBS, a renowned company related to the firearms industry. Buzz bought the car with a total accumulated mileage of about 32,000 and proceeded to repaint and upholster the Packard for show purposes. In 1978 the Packard was awarded the prestigious AACA Senior First, the award still adorns the car.

In about 2000, the Packard was bought by Bill Burchett of Brea, Ca with the total mileage amassed reading about 35,000. Mr. Burchett is a dear friend and has been active as a judge at Pebble Beach and other concours events since the 1960’s. He has been an active Classic Car Club of America CARavan participant in nearly every CARavan ever held. In fact, this 1935 Phaeton has been to Alaska, Montana, New England, New Mexico and Arizona on CCCA CARavans which has lead to its present mileage of about 45,000 miles since new.

No one knows for sure how many 1935 Phaetons were made; we know that the total count is about 22. We know that this is one of an even smaller number known to exist. This is a spectacular combination of original and older restoration and is both an award winning specimen as well as a multiple tour veteran. Could it get much better than this? If you are a serious collector this is a motorcar to consider.
