1957 Chevy Bel Air Convertible, Body-off Restoration, Dual Quads, Nicely Optioned, Gorgeous!

PRICE REDUCED $10,000!! This is a full Body Off restoration of a Chevy Bel Air convertible featuring the venerable Dual Quads. Every nut and bolt was touched during the extensive (and expensive) restoration. It has minimal patina now as it has been about ten years since restoration, making this the perfect Bel Air to show at concours, enjoy on tours or as a weekend cruiser!

This Bel Air was restored back to the factory correct color of Larkspur Blue livery (Paint Code 795) with the correct Blue Interior (Trim Code 679). We love the iconic color combination paired with the white convertible top and the continental kit (rear spare tire). The car is stunning! (VIN: VC57J165041)

This Bel Air is loaded with options! It has the correct 283 cu. in. dual quad (with the famous Bat Wing air cleaner) V8 with about 245 hp fitted with the Powerglide automatic transmission. For ease of driving this Bel Air has power steering and a power soft top. Other accessories include: Bowtie AM/FM cassette stereo, Continental kit, electric clock and many deluxe cosmetic accessories. We love the dual rear antennas!

The car drives beautifully. More than anything the car needs to be driven and enjoyed more frequently. The temperature gauge and speedometer are not functioning properly. For the past eight years this Bel Air has been owned by a collector in Southern California that has driven it sparingly. We now offer it for sale on his behalf.

Cosmetically, everything was restored to very high standards. The condition of the car belies the decade old restoration. Upon close inspection it appears as though there was a freshening up of an older frame off restoration. The exterior was repainted with a high quality respray to make it look absolutely fresh. The engine compartment and interior show a little bit more patina, but still wonderful. There are no dents or scratches in the paint. We would enjoy the car as is without doing anything except driving it and taking it to concours events! Look at the detailed photo gallery and inspection video with the test drive!

We do not have photos or receipts for the restoration as it was bought eight years ago fully restored. But the condition of the car speaks for itself!

PRICING: We have priced this Bel Air to sell!! The Hagerty Price Guide has the No. 2 Condition Bel Air convertible valued at $106,000. NADA has the High Retail value at $149,125. The cost of restoration alone to the standard of this Bel Air is over $100,000!

SOLD to Los Angeles!! Just in is this collection of 1955, 56 and 57 Bel Air Convertibles that have been together for over 25 years. This is a gorgeous older restoration of the iconic 1957 Chevy Bel Air Convertible. We have documentation dating back to 1962.

It is a complete frame-up restoration that included removing all the original paint and repainting it in the classic Tropical Turquoise (Paint Code 749A). The paint is in very nice condition with some touch ups over the years. The chrome and stainless are in very nice condition with a few small dings in some of the stainless. The matching turquoise convertible top is in excellent condition. And we love the rear mounted spare!!

The interior is also very nice in two shades of blue, that works very well with the turquoise livery. The photo gallery shows the quality of the restoration and it was done quite authentically. The Bel Air does not have its trim tag on the cowl, but the VIN is C57L166381. This Bel Air was built in the Los Angeles, CA assembly plant. When it was restored it was upgraded to front disc brakes. It has power steering as well.

More details coming soon! For more information call or text Harry Clark at +1.623.404.9042 or email us at sales@classicpromenade.com. This Bel Air is on our Phoenix, AZ showroom.

SOLD to Seattle!! Just in is this collection of 1955, 56 and 57 Bel Air Convertibles that have been together for over 25 years. This is a gorgeous older restoration of the iconic 1955 Chevy Bel Air Convertible. We have documentation dating back to 1960, nearly 60 years of history! Look at many of the trim items. There are many very rare options, such as the front bumper over-riders, the side trim and the rear spare.

It is a complete frame-up restoration that included removing all the original paint and repainting it in the classic India Ivory and Gypsy Red (Paint Code 617). The paint is in very nice condition with some touch ups over the years. The chrome and stainless are in very nice condition with a few small dings in some of the stainless. The correctly done beige convertible power top is in excellent condition.

The interior is also very nice in a matching red and white vinyl, that works very well with the red and white livery. The photo gallery shows the quality of the restoration and it was done quite authentically. It also has a modern “Chevy” stereo added, but is otherwise very authentically restored (although the color had been changed).

The Bel Air has been upgraded with front disc brakes (with a dual master cylinder for safety) and the V8 runs and drives beautifully. The power top, gauges and accessories work. The clock is not operational.

According to some of the historical documents, this Bel Air was featured in many TV shows and movies. More details coming soon! For more information call or text Harry Clark at +1.623.404.9042 or email us at sales@classicpromenade.com. The car is available for inspection in our Phoenix, AZ showroom.

This is a very cool 55 Chevy Bel Air custom that is a solid, rust-free older restoration of a California car since new. We have a trove of history from its first restoration dating back to 1979.

This Chevy has a strong running 327 V8 that has plenty of horsepower. It is mated to a four speed manual transmission. We encourage you to look closely at the photo gallery of this 55 along with the YouTube video that shows additional details of the car.

We love the understated elegance of the silver grey metallic and white two tone livery. Light grey custom pin striping done by Kelly & Sons runs throughout the car and is well done.

The Bel Air is bagged and can be individually raised or lowered separately or together. We think it is very cool looking when dropped to the ground (the photos speak volumes). The engine compartment is detailed for show. While no concours winner this Bel Air draws plenty of attention.
The white tuck and roll vinyl interior is in nice shape. Likely also dating back to the early 1980’s, it has a classic custom look and feel.

George Price of San Francisco and San Rafael, CA bought the 55 Chevy in about 1979. It had just over 21,000 miles showing on the odometer and all receipts reference this mileage. He performed extensive restoration work on the 55 from 1979 through 1983. Much of the documentation included services from well-known racing performance service providers. The engine was completely rebuilt along with the transmission. He also had chrome plating and stainless polishing done to make the car look sharp. This is all fully documented in a huge stack of receipts that will come with the Bel Air.

On October 15, 1993 George sold it to Chris Gingher of Pengrove, CA. By the late 90’s the Bel Air was sold to Gene in Southern California. Gene set out on a complete rebuild of the engine and updating the cosmetics. The engine runs very strong and has plenty of power. Gene had the engine cammed with significant head work performed. The engine is a 1964 Corvette engine, 327 cu in with about 300 HP. The engine has about 3,000 miles since the rebuild. The Bel Air now has about 26,000 miles showing.

The Muncie four speed manual transmission drive through a 3:55 four link rear end. The front end has 2 inch drop spindles with power disc brakes and a a new CPP steering box. The Bel Air was bagged without any suspension cutting. The mounting for the front coils and the rear leaf springs were all maintained. This Chevy is ready to be enjoyed by its new owner and is ready for cruise nights and local car shows!

This is a completely restored 1955 Chevy post custom. It was a body off restoration that was started years ago and completed in April 2013. This is an elegant and nearly perfect build that was designed to be driven and enjoyed. It can be shown or toured with as you wish.

It was bought by our client, Don, in February 2010 in Lake Elsinore, CA where it had been for more than a dozen years. It was a relatively rust free body that was thoroughly media blasted and stripped.

Don started with powder coating the chassis and built it with nearly all CPP suspension and brakes. The Chevy has 12 inch front rotors and 11 inch rear. All the springs and suspension was replaced, again with CPC components. The rear springs are TCI. All the brake lines and fuel line are braided stainless steel. The wheels are custom made for the car by Schott: 18×7 front and 18×8 rear.

The engine and transmission were completely rebuilt. The engine is a 350 cu in with a high lift cam and the transmission is a 700R with a 2500 stall converter. The radiator and gas tank are both custom made by Hot Rod City in San Bernardino, CA. The gas tank is 23 gallons. The wiring harness is all new as well as all the new tinted glass throughout. The instruments are all Classic Instruments and the air conditioning is all Vintage Air.

The steering column is CPP and the steering box has been updated to a 500 series.

The body was media blasted and stripped of all prior paint, etc. The body had very little rust reflecting what is likely a California car since new. It was then sprayed with etching primer and painted in Omni single stage urethane paint. It is painted in an elegant combination of Ivory and burnt orange (kindof a copper). Don added all new trim replicating a 210/Bel Air. The paint and bodywork is gorgeous!

The interior was all done by Don. He worked in a trim shop over 20 years ago and it is beautiful. All the seat faces are leather with accents in ostrich. The entire interior, doors and trunk is lined with dynamat.

This is a wonderful example of a survivor. This Bel Air convertible is said to have sat for decades in a barn in Tennessee. The seats, carpet, chrome and stainless are all original from the factory. This Bel Air has received one respray many years ago and door panels, top and other components have been replaced or maintained as appropriate.

This is an all numbers matching car. It is purported to have under 30,000 original miles. We cannot verify this claim, however if you look under the dash you will see nothing has been touched, and in the engine compartment it looks the same, lots of originality in both places that leads us to believe its true, the car is a remarkable example and fabulous survivor. We have supplied scores of detailed photos to help aid the evaluation of the condition. In addition, we recently completed a 50 mile tour with the American Bugatti Club and the car handled brilliantly.

The motor is the original Power Pak 265 cu in V8 with 205 hp, with motor number 0044568, FB Code. The power is transmitted through the original Power glide automatic transmission. The car also has the original factory power steering, electric wipers, power top and heater.

The front and rear seats are original upholstery with the original clear plastic covers. This really makes the car special and increasingly rare. These cars are only original once! The paint was done many years ago and matches the patina of the interior fairly well. The paint was done in a 1955 color, turquoise with ivory. The exterior color was originally twilight turquoise.

The car is a blast .Even the old tube radio works, It is a wonderful driver to enjoy as is or restore later. Car has issues with some rust and body filler, restoration would require repairs in floors and quarter panels, lower doors, some areas in trunk, and all rocker panels. This resto is certainly not necessary for the car to be enjoyed because the car has a look about it that is neat as it is. However if you at some time in the the future do decide to restore it is a Power Pak Bel Air Convertible with Power Steering and top in a color scheme that is extremely desirable! If you’re going to restore a car put your money in where you can get your money out.

Below is a link to a good guide to determine 56 car values.

This Bel Air was originally sold new in Flint, MI, and almost immediately was driven out to California where it has been since. It is very original except for a repaint that was performed many years ago and is in very nice condition. The green and white two tone looks very nice on this four-door sedan body.

The interior is largely original with only the seats recovered in a closely matching material. There is a nice patina to this Chevy that makes it look almost entirely like a pristine original. The chrome and stainless are in nice condition and the glass is in excellent condition. The original AM radio is complimented by a modern AM/FM CD player tastefully hidden in the glove box, out of view.

The odometer reads about 100,000 miles and service history shows about 70,000 miles in the 1970’s. This is a low mileage example.

Mechanically, the Bel Air features Chevy’s very robust and dependable straight six cylinder engine and features the PowerGlide automatic transmission. All mechanical aspects of the Chevy are in nice shape. It drives as it should and would be a very nice daily driver or weekend cruiser for the family!! This is a motorcar to enjoy as-is.

It is rare to find a California, rust-free original Bel Air still with its six cylinder engine. This is a wonderful example. For more details please call Harry at 602.245.7200 or email us at sales@classicpromenade.com.

This is a gorgeous complete, no-expense spared restoration of a California special order racing Chevy! We are proud to offer on consignment this concours restoration of a 1957 Chevy 150 Business Utility Sedan with full original factory delete options and a full recreation of the weekend racers! This was a dream restoration of Norm, our client that is a retired computer technology executive. It has 685 miles since completion and is ready for competition of any sort!

This vehicle is a recreation of the first car that could be ordered from your local Chevrolet dealership and drag raced on Sunday at your local Strip. It is NOT a clone “Black Widow” that was so popular in NASCAR and seen so often at auctions, it is NOT your typical “resto-rod” or “Street Rod” with a 350/350 A/C, with power this and that with tons of billet and chrome.

It is a very real example of a factory ordered race car with no accessories and with one of the biggest engine Chevrolet had to offer. Some liberties were taken during the build to enhance the performance such as, the ever popular during the sixties, 327 cu inch engine, 2 ½ inch ram horn exhaust and a Muncie 4 speed transmission with a Hurst shifter typical in late ’57. This has a 336:1 rear ratio, 10:1 Compression and runs terrific on 89 octane fuel with no additives.

The newly painted, gorgeous and correct onyx black exterior is accented by new correct black and silver “cobble-stone” interior. The “rear seat delete”, “radio delete”, “clock delete”, and “sun-visors delete” in addition to the fixed rear quarter windows was a typical way “Super Stock” cars were ordered and this car was built. The body sits on a “California” one piece frame and is accented with a “California” one piece front bumper. These were California only items that simply cannot be readily duplicated. This restoration was completed in 2004.

The engine compartment replicates an original, driver friendly 270 H.P. dual quad (WCFB) Corvette engine with period correct cam profile, Corvette script valve covers and Corvette aluminum air cleaners. Everything is new, from the front suspension, engine, transmission, through to the rear end including the very rare NOS utility platform rubber floor mat. This car is a tribute to the glory days of drag racing of the late fifties and sixties when the average guy or gal could order it on Monday and drag race it on Sunday.
