THE ESSENTIALS

SOLD to California!! This is a well documented and thoroughly serviced 1988 Rolls-Royce Silver Spur that has covered a mere 29,840 miles since new. This Spur is stunning in its newly repainted Royal Blue metallic (Paint Code 9510457) livery contrasted with Tan Everflex (Trim code 5202DH) applied to the roof. The paint was done in 2019 and looks wonderful. All major trim pieces were removed for the repaint.

The interior is gorgeous, befitting of a Rolls with 29,000 miles. The Tan leather (Trim code A4178) hides are soft and supple with little to no wear evident throughout. The two contrasting veneers for the wood accents are in very good to excellent condition with only slight discoloration showing on the door caps. The burl walnut dash and other wood accents are excellent and gorgeous.

This Spur was bought new on November 16,1988 by Mrs. Ellen Geyer from Lauderdale Imports in Ft. Lauderdale. Mrs. Geyer lived in Palm Beach, FL and had the car serviced regularly at Lauderdale Imports and Braman Motorcars. She paid $129,900 for the Rolls and within two years she had accumulated 8,100 miles. This is one of the 692 LHD Spurs produced in 1988.

From 2000 until 2015, the Rolls was owned by Roma Renfro of Knoxville, TN. He also used the car sparingly and by 2017 the Spur benefited from a complete mechanical recommissioning at Music City Motors, the local Rolls-Royce dealership. The recommissioning included virtually all the systems, including the major service (belts, hoses, etc), the accumulators, shocks, battery, tires, suspension bushings, air conditioning components, oil leaks, speakers, lights, cooling system, window regulators and switches, etc. Virtually all the normal items that need attention with time had been addressed. It has been two years and 2,000 miles since that work was performed.

Being a fuel injected example, this Spur should prove to be dependable for regular use. And with the highly unusual level of investment in Rolls-Royce dealership performed maintenance, this can likely be enjoyed for years with only regular servicing. The Spur is complete with all of its books, spare keys, a stack of service receipts, tools and records.

Fine examples of Spurs sell quickly. For more information and details, call or text Harry Clark at +1.602.245.7200 or email us at harry@classicpromenade.com. The Spur is located in our Phoenix, AZ showroom. We encourage and assist with live video inspections of our motorcars.

Interesting Fact: The Rolls-Royce Silver Spur is a long-wheelbase version of the Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit that was manufactured from 1980 to 2000. It was also the first model to feature a retractable Spirit of Ecstasy, which would retract into the radiator shell if dislodged.    Both the Silver Spur and Silver Spirit carried over designs from their predecessor the Silver Shadow. This included using a 6.75 L L410 V8 engine along with a GM-sourced THM400 3-speed transmission. Each vehicle was considered a full-size luxury car and self-leveling suspension systems with ride height control and shock absorbers ensure a comfortable ride quality.   There were two variations of the Silver Spur released in the 1990s: The Flying Spur and the Silver Dawn. The Flying Spur is a turbocharged model that features a higher performance than the base model. Only 134 of these were ever produced. The Silver Dawn is a specialized edition of the Spur and featured new technology for the time such as electronic traction assistance systems and heated rear seats.    Production on both base models officially closed in 1997 but continued until 2000 when the Silver Spirits parts were fully out of stock. The luxurious craftsmanship that went into the production of the Silver Spur and Silver Spirit paved the way for future Rolls-Royce vehicles.
